I really like traveling with Southwest Airlines, but JetBlue has great flight times and prices right now. I don't know anything about them, Do they run on time? Do they ever change their flights (like Airtran?). How much is their checked bag fee? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

We only fly with JetBlue and have many times. Only once was our flight delayed and that was because of bad weather. We have never had a flight time changed on us. They do not charge for the 1st checked bag and charge $25 for the 2nd checked bag. They also have the largest allowances for carryon luggage. For the bigger plane, you should see my carryon!LOL But, it fits perfectly in the overhead bin. They also allow each person a personal item(like a purse or backpack) that has to be able to fit under the seat in front of you. The seats are roomy and comfy. The employees are always wonderful. The free, unlimited snacks and drinks are great too. The best is the TV with a ton of channels and satellite radio!! Oh, one think, bring your own headphones or earbuds(the ipod ones work perfectly) otherwise you have to pay $1 for their headphones before you board. If you wait till after you could be waiting 20 mins to get them and then have to use a credit card cause they do not take cash on board. Oh, did I mention they also serve Dunkin Donuts coffee!

Great description of their service Desnik.:thumbsup2

OP - another thing - if your plane is delayed for an hour or more and it is due to something within their control, you receive a travel voucher starting at $25 and going up from there based on the amount of time you were delayed.

We fly them exclusively unless we are travelling someplace they do not service.

Be forewarned - once you fly them, every other airline will seem like a downgrade!

I will echo all the sentiments as above. The only time my flight was delayed was because of fog at Logan. We stayed on the tarmac at Dulles for about an hour, but with the tv you didn't even really notice. We splurged on the extra leg room seats this last trip and think they might be worth the extra $20 each time now. As mentioned before you will be hooked. We travel to a farther airport to fly JetBlue now.

Since moving to Rochester, I started flying AirTran to Orlando. I like AirTran. I had some issues with Southwest and because of the drive out to Buffalo, it has to be a really good deal for me to be willing to make the switch.

My most recent trip down to Orlando my boyfriend convinced me to try JetBlue over AirTran (it was a difference of $5.) So I tried it. I just booked my trip in August with JetBlue. Obviously I loved it. And the seats are so much roomier!! Our flight back was delayed a bit, but there was a huge snowstorm in the Northeast, so that was to be expected. I say give JetBlue a try. Their only drawback is flying through Kennedy. Because of the sheer volume of flights, they do get delayed sometimes. If you can manage a direct flight, I would recommend that. (But heck, I do that for any airline!)

Thanks for all the great reviews about JetBlue. Our return flight will be with them and it will be the first time I've used them. I usually use SW for both ways, but the prices and return times were much better for JetBlue's non-stops.:thumbsup2

Their only drawback is flying through Kennedy.

A year ago I would have agreed and JFK still has its large share of afternoon delays.
However, I've completely stopped avoiding JFK since JetBlue opened their new terminal there. One word: fab :)

Hi! I'm another person who usually flies Southwest, now booked for 2 Jetblue trips to Orlando. The direct flight prices from Buffalo have been very comparable to what I usually pay on Southwest's direct flights & now we have seat assignments without the 24hr. ahead of time hassle. And looking forward to the TV! But can we bring sandwiches on board to eat during the flight like we can on SW? Thanks!

Yes, you can.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! I booked just now and got nonstop from Buffalo to Orlando for $192/pp round trip! That's fantastic! Now I'm so excited- I can't wait for November!

Hey DisneyDebbie: check the prices on JetBlue & AirTran out of Rochester too. I'm not sure exactly where you are, but it's only about an hour from airport to airport and parking at Rochester is nicer than Buffalo's. I'm constantly checking Buffalo, Rochester, & Syracuse (though that's probably a little far if you usually use Buffalo!) to find the best deal. Sometimes I save a good $50/ticket!!

Other people mentioned the TVs on Jet Blue, but I don't think they stressed it enough. Everyone gets their own TV screen. There are buttons on your seatrest which let you channel surf. I have found that because everyone is wearing headphones and watching TV, the passengers are quieter and the ride is calmer than on other airlines. :happytv:

I think the website lists the food they serve onboard. It's mostly cookies and chip-type stuff. You might want to check out the list. If it's not to your liking, you'll know to bring your own food onboard (within the TSA restrictions, of course).

Also I have to say my favorite part is that if your flight goes down in price from when you book it they will give you a credit for a future flight. I don't feel like I missed a deal when I buy my airfare early!

Love them, they are the only airline I fly.

So happy to read this!!! Flying with JetBlue for our first time in October!! :cool1:

Is jetblue allowed to use their TVs again? I don't understand why live TV was recently banned after that attack.

I don't understand why live TV was recently banned after that attack.

Because an underwear bomber would know where he was, supposedly (the Delta attacker wanted to do it over U.S. soil). Of course the route into Detroit is over Canada until very close to landing so he probably was not, anyway.

Can't add too much as everyone pretty much covered it all. Only once did they change my time for a flight and they called me everyday until I called them back to tell me about the change. (I was out of town, so came home to a ton of messages --time changes from a 12:30PM departure to a 2:35PM departure which gave me 2 extra Disney hours.) We flew with them just last month and again next week, plus I'm booked on them for 5 more flights this year. One thing I wanted to mention is to bring your own headphones and the price now is $2 if you have to buy them on the flight. You can purchase them at the gate too for cash, but during the flight it must be a cc and not until beverage service begins. During my flight last month we were magically upgraded to the extra roomy seats because we were willing to give up our seats to a family. We were surprised to be put in row 4 extra roomy for free.

I believe I saw a Tweet from Jet Blue last week saying you can use the TVs again.

We love JetBlue! We're hoping tge price comes down for our May trip so we can fly with them again.
