Per my other post ... I gave in...

Cancelled our original flight, added the credit from the price drop....
and got row 5 - extra leg room seats on our JetBlue flights.

Hey none is in our row so far ... so maybe we can put DH & DS on one side and DW & DD on the other with lots space. :rotfl:

So - how are the extra leg room seats ?

The only thing different is the legroom. For Jet Blue the extra leg room seats have 4" more in pitch, that's it.

There was extra leg room, but keep in mind jetblue's regular seating has more leg room than other carriers to begin with. We were upgraded for free in december to row 4. They asked if anyone wanted to be moved to exit row seating (adults) and we volunteered and to our surpise they put us in row 4 (extra room) and not in the exit rows. A pretty good treat. I think they just wanted some extra seats to move some families closer together, so us giving up our row 7 seats actually worked out for us. However, I would never pay for it now that I've sat there. Many people go to the gate to see about free upgrades, so OP keep in mind, someone will be sitting with you in the empty seat, but most likely will get it for free.

We always get the first couple rows not so much for the extra legroom (though it is nice) but to get off the plane quicker. I'm so ready to be off when we land I hate being further back having to wait while everyone takes what seems like forever to get their stuff out of the overhead.

Hi! The extra leg room rows are very nice, my DH requested them the first time we flew. However since then they have increased the price to $25 each, I think. Not sure if the extra leg room is worth $100 for 2 people round trip. So next trip I booked regular seats to compare. Good luck with your trip!:)

I fly JB about once a month and I always buy the exit row for the extra room given I'm almost 6'6".

I have never had a "freebie" fill the seat next to me in the exit row. I've flown full flights except the exit rows because no one would pay to upgrade and JB would not give them away. I've had people choose to re-seat themselves next to me or in front of me, only to be asked to move back to their regular seat by the FA's as they didn't pay for the exit row seats.

Based on this experience on over a dozen JB flight segments since October, I'd say JB's policy is "no free upgrades".

Wow, so I guess when they offer the free extra room seats to us in December, we should feel honored. We just flew in December and were upgraded to the extra room seats for free. Maybe it's just the flights we are on. Maybe because we don't fly with kids. We fly JB every other month and the extra room rows are filled on every flight we are on and usually there is a line of folks at the counter asking for the free upgrade. We didn't ask in December, they just asked if we were willing to give up our seats and we did and they put us in row 4, extra leg seats. We flew JB last weekend and we were fine in our row 7 seats and the plane was half empty. But that was because they offered people earlier in the week to change because of an approaching snow storm.
