Jetblue/carryon/sunscreen ?

Take on the plane only those things you actually need to use while in the air.
Take on the plane what you need within the first 24 hours of landing. Too many things can happen to your checked luggage to guarantee it getting to the same airport as you at the same time you arrive.

Well the TSA let me take the 8oz of sunscreen because I had a signed doctor's note. They are not medical professionals. They can't go against a doctor's order when I have a condition that requires that I wear sunscreen.
The TSA agent was being nice and accomodated you. Virtually everyone should use sunscreen to reduce the risk of cancer. You may be of.higher risk. I'm sure I could get a note.
The medical exemption is for liquids you might need on the plane such as baby formula. The exemption also applies to items not available at your destination. Sunscreen is widely available in airport shops, resorts and nearby stores.
The exemption would apply if you had prescription screen, if it exists
It would probably apply if you have a medical reason like allergy to use a specific cream not readily available.
Pax should not plan on an exemption. Buy travel size bottles or transfer to 100ml bottles.
Again sunscreen is specifically listed as an item not allowed as as medical exemption
