We did a week in Orlando and a week on Sanibel. We needed the second week to recuperate!
I will no doubt ruffle some feathers here with my Back to DIS Report, but in my defence I am 47, my DH and I went without kids, and I am not a fan of rollercoasters. But I did go with a view to having fun. And I have to say that overall, given unlimited dollars and imagination, DisneyWorld is proof that anything is possible.
Our first day was "offsite" at SeaWorld, which I thought was fantastic. The awesome power of Shamu really took my breath away.
Our second day was at the Magic Kingdom, which *ducking* I found very disappointing. I don't think I was prepared for the treck to get there, and the heat was oppressive, so perhaps I wasn't in the best of moods when I arrived. But, sad to say, the magic didn't happen for me. We spent the day there and left after the parade, by which time I had melted ... However, in the evening we ate at the Wilderness Lodge - an amazing hotel. SUCH an amazing place, it really takes your breath away when you walk into the lobby.
Our third day was Animal Kingdom, and I was blown away. Although this was manufactured, as they all are of course, it was done so well. Each section was so atmospheric, and the attention to every minute detail was amazing. I loved the Tree of Life, such a clever idea. Not to be missed - the Lion King. For lunch we went to the Rainforest Cafe which I would recommend highly especially for anyone with kids. What an experience ... absolutely fantastic.
On the fourth day, we rested! But in the evening we had PS for the Brown Derby at MGM - the best food we had all week, but not cheap - and then Spectromagic, which was pretty spectacular.
Our fifth day was spent at Disney MGM in the morning, which was quite enjoyable (Universal in California was far better in comparison, which might be unfair) and in the afternoon one of the highlights of our trip for me ... Typhoon Lagoon. What a blast!! Recommended for anyone with stress, the slow-moving river that encircles the park where you glide gently round on a rubber ring ... sublime! And the wave machine was such good fun.
All in all a great time was had by both of us, but - maybe it's because I'm not a fan of adrenalin-rush rides - I have to say that I (personally) don't see the attraction in going back year after year, unless you have kids. There's too much else in the world to see ...... but this is very much IMHO.
