Jet Blue Flying Out of Newark, NJ Soon

Just wanted to let other folks from New Jersey know that starting in early October, Jet Blue will start flying out of Newark Airport. We booked a flight to Orlando for $165 roundtrip (including taxes and fees), and at some times and days, the flight was as cheap as $59 one way.

I read on the Disney page that Jet Blue plans to join Magical Express at some point, hopefully very soon so we can benefit from that.

Hopefully this will help drive down all airfares to Orlando out of Newark.

and still has not driven down many of the fares. I booked Song out of LGA (originally, now out of JFK) for November because rates out of EWR were too high. Shortly after, Song announced that it was discontinuing service out of EWR after October and JetBlue announced it was going to start flying out of EWR. I checked my dates and the fares on JetBlue and Continental are many times higher than what I am paying out of NY.

I also checked fares for April, 2006 (we have our Spring break 4/10-4/14) and Song broke fares out of LGA and I booked them for $74/each way. JetBlue and Continental are much, much higher.

I hope that we do see the rates out of EWR drop for more dates. While I don't mind flying out of NY, I'd much rather go out of EWR, as it's a bit closer.

When they first announced Jet Blue service out of Newark, Continental was matching the Jet Blue introductory fares. My co-worker was able to book flights on Continental out of Newark for April for $69 each way (which was the rate Jet Blue was offering). I just checked, & they are both back to over $200 round trip right now.

Yes I just bought tix for Jet Blue's Newark flights to Orlando for December @ $69 each leg. Had to, the Song buying wizard told me their Newark Flights end September 6th.

I loved Song and wished it didn't leave Newark. But I'm happy with my $165 round trip fare out of Newark - last trip to Florida we had to fly out of Philly to get a $140 fare. To get the cheaper fare, we did have to fly on a Thursday and Tuesday - otherwise the fare would have been higher.

On July 22 I booked Jet Blue out of Newark and we are paying $135.00 RT flying out on Nov 20th and $195.40 flying out on 12/19.
