Jet Blue Experiences?

Domestically I try and fly JetBlue whenever I can. I fly out of EWR or JFK primaryly to MCO for WDW trips, and I fly them out to Ca. for DL trips. Not to mention they just signed an agreement with CapeAir, so getting to Cape Cod will be a piece of cake.

I have flown Jetblue over 20 times ( I've gotten two rewards flights so it has to be over 20). I have only had one flight delayed. I have missed a flight and they got me on the next flight with a confirmed seat without problem. I have jumped onto earlier flights to get to spring training baseball games when I got tickets last minute.

The directTV is great, but I like them for the leather seats. Much more hygienic then cloth. They use a sanitizer after each flight on each seat. Personally I don't like sitting on cloth airline seats because gawd knows what biological matter is there from the previous(s) occupant.

I also like that if the price goes down after you buy your ticket, call them and they will give you a credit of the difference towards a future purchase.

As to their troubles with the storms, it's a risk we take when traveling in the winter. I won't hold it against them.

i guess it depends on specifics, but you need 100 true blue points to get 2 one way tickets as the reward.

flights (for me anyway) are worth 4, 8 or 12 points roundtrip depending on where i fly. short trips are 2, medium are 4 and long are 6 (i think). so from NYC, each one way flight gets me 4 to orlando, but that's doubled if you check in online, which also gets counted as such if you use remote check in at the disney resort.

so from nyc to orlando, i get 16 points roundtrip. which would be 7 trips for me within 1 year, assuming that's the only place i go.

during the holiday season, they were actually also giving online checkin bonus points of 2 for each flight.

They just started flying from IAD to Orlando. I will see how it works with the pricing. I just got a good price on a return flight for May.

Since the TVs aren't a big draw anymore for me, I'll see if they have any more amenities I like better than Southwest. (not counting assigned seating because I don't mind the unassigned seating at all)

heh.. so you're making weather JB's concern? fact is, they weren't the first to have the problem and they definitely weren't the last.

Not at all; it is how JetBlue handled that weather delay which was a problem.

I'm not bashing JetBlue, just relating my personal experience. In the past 1 1/2 years I have flown JetBlue 8 times and every single flight departure was delayed 1 hour or more. None of the delays were related to weather. Most were equipment problems (including the aborted take-off, which necessitated a return to the gate for a computer re-boot and a delay of almost 2 hours), one was a crew problem.

Please note that not once did I complain to JetBlue about these delays, or demand any type of compensation (although I always get a $5.00 credit when the tvs don't work, woo-hoo!) and have never posted here proclaiming I will not fly JetBlue again.

Of course I would fly JetBlue again. Every airline has problems and delays. I do admit to avoiding any type of routing through JFK, but that is just using common sense.

Jetblue handled the situation better than any other airline ever did. My parents were delayed in the fort lauderdale airport in febuary for 8 hours. They were not on a plane, but there flight time kept getting pushed back. When Jetblue announced their customer bill of rights they said anyone delayed more than a certian amount of hours in febuary would receive a roundtrip ticket free. My parents recieved their tickets the other day.
1. Niether of them had to call jetblue once to ask for the free tickets
2. they recieved theses tickets within a month of the issues.

I would say they handled the situation like all customer orientated businesses should, but unfortunately jetblue is a rare bird.

I'll be using JetBlue for the first time in July to MCO. I wanted to use them last year but Spirit was cheaper at that time. I never thought I'd be excited about a plane! :goodvibes

I'm flying out of JFK too (I'm 10-15min away).

Wow, so many Brooklynites in one place on the Dis!

Just chiming in that my family always uses JetBlue, and have never had a negative experience. JFK to MCO is all we've done so far, but we're flying to Long Beach, Cali (Disneyland!!!) in May. We were originally going to go through LAX, but when I saw that JetBlue didn't go there, we switched our plans to Long Beach.

One thing I especially like is that my flight recently had a time change of 10 minutes, and I got an email from JetBlue asking if I accept the change. I was given the option of changing without the change fee. When we flew Delta a few years ago, I would have never known about time changes if I didn't check the website every day. They never notified me.

I highly recommend JetBlue, and JFK isn't so bad, either!;)

actually, i'm in queens (ozone park), so i can pretty much step outside and see the planes taking off in the distance (or at least from the subway platform).

technically, LGB isn't bad for Disneyland (the commute from the airport to DL is less than LAX), but I'm with you, I'd probably prefer LAX. although coming into LGB isn't a problem, it's leaving and waiting around in that tiny little thing.

but yeah, i've never had any serious delays. maybe 15-20 mins, mostly due to runway traffic, and they've always made it up in the air. i do know someone who was delayed by some period of time (under an hour), JB claimed responsibility and gave everyone a $25 credit. that was in '05.

i've never seen the tvs not work either (all of them?!?!). that would make me go nuts. the only thing i had not work for me once were earphones, but they replaced them.

i actually missed my last flight to orlando because they were too stinkin punctual (i was keeping my eye on the clock on my laptop). i blame them though cuz the free wifi wasn't working well where my gate was, so i had to move elsewhere.

We are flying Jet Blue for the first time out of JFK in May..the 19th. I haven't flown them before. We don't fly very often..our last trip was 4 years ago. How early to you need to be at the airport? JB told me an hour for JFK..and an hour and a half for MCO. We are getting a limo to airport..and they are telling us hour and half for JFK. It doesn't really matter to me..I just want to give myself enough time. We are due to leave on a 8:00 flight. Were booked on the 6:55 am flight..but they cancelled it and put us on the one an hour later. Which is fine too..I didn't pick it originally because it was $30 more a ticket and there are five of us. No charge for change later more expensive flight. Now it's going for over $234.00 for one way on the same flight. So glad I booked it when I did.

I haven't flown out of JFK, but I would allow closer to 2 hours. You never know how long the lines are going to be a check-in or security. I would definitely allow 2 hours at MCO. When I was there in October, the lines were long at security. I would rather be sitting & waiting at the gate instead of panicking in line that I may miss my flight.

My DH is on a JB flight right now. It's the first time he's flown them, and probably the last. His non-stop flight from Newark is running 2.5 hours late. Newark had some wind issues late this afternoon, but every other carrier has been able to make up the time and by the time DH's scheduled departure time came around, Jet Blue was the only carrier who still had delays of more than ten minutes. :sad2:

I know this isn't as severe as those who were stuck for days, but it shows that they still don't have thier act together.

They changed my flight coming home, and that's 5 months away. I wouldn't mind 1 hour, but the new flight is 3 1/2 hours earlier. They didn't even send me an email to tell me. I bet they're going to change the time we fly down there too because there are a ton of flights that morning and when I check my seats, it looks pretty empty.

In the past 14 months I have flown 12-13 times with JB. I have had one award flight (actually 2, counting DH) and we are more then half way to the second one.
The main reason we fly them is the price and the fare goes down, you get a credit. So, Im not really complaining, because I am looking for a bargain and JB does have them.
But out of 12-13 flights, only one has left on time. Every flight leaves at least 1 - 2 hours late. Just last night, we had a 8PM out of MCO to JFK, next gate was the 8:40PM to HPN and they were boarding before us.
But I'm looking for a bargain, so I have to deal with JB.
I do miss Song.

As I posted JB is my favorite choice for flying. I don't want to be in the air if the weather is bad. I have flown United, US air, and Airtran. My worst flying experiences were with these airlines. When planning my vacation I allot time for delays, that way I am not stressed about being anywhere. We flew back from our family vacation at MN and were delayed 3 hrs on United sitting in the plane with no air. When we came back from Disney on Us Air they lost our luggage for 3 days, they left it somewhere in Chicago. Our flight on United They didn't have all of our seat together, somehow the seats didn't get assigned together (cheaptickets.com) so because I had to kids with me they let us sit 1st class. Airtran where do I begin:headache:

No matter what airline we pick someone is going to have a negative travel experience. On that note because I travel alot with small kids I want a straight flight and will not stop in JFK again too much of a hassle getting on and off planes.

Oh great, because I'll be leaving from JFK. Last time we travelled we were coming back into LaGuardia on Delta the the landing gear wasn't coming down or something. Scary!
Eek!!!:scared1:

I have flown out of JFK on JetBlue quite a few times and even if we left late, we always arrive in Orlando on time or even early.
Love JetBlue, prefer Newark because it's easier to get to(JFK is usually cheaper though), but don't have any issues with JFK.

I did have an 8:10pm(or thereabouts) flight home in April, and they changed it to 5:35 and then again to 5:45, but I did get an email each time.

They have changed my flight from logan to mco by a half hour, but i received an email on both emai accounts.

I really have a hard time believing that peolpe have flown jb 12 times and were delayed more than hour each time. Airline research has shown jb as having one of the best on time records, as well as they have an outstanding record with regards to lost luggage. :yay: Most of the time we arrive half hour early at our destination. :cheer2:

People may be blaimg jb when in fact it is either the airport they are leaving from or the airport they are going to.

actually, according to the AQR, i wouldn't exactly call JB's on time percentage stellar. there are several better, but there are worse (they're mostly all in the same neighborhood). but i for one have never experienced anything like others have reported, especially out of JFK.

but still, all-in-all JB ends up ranking #1 on the AQR year after year.*

ETA: reviewing the 2007 AQR now (didn't know it was out yet).

* okay, #2 now for 2006 as Hawaiian was added to the report and came in #1 overall.

ETAx2: on-time %age of 72.9%. far from the best, but relatively not poor either.

report is available at http://www.aqr.aero for anyone interested

We've flown JB about 6 times in the last 12 months & we really like them. For me it's having the TV for the kids; and Dunkin Donuts coffee for DH :lmao: We fly out of EWR. We have had delays (2 hour delay to MCO on 2/9, and then a 1 hour delay back to MCO on 2/16); and they did lose one piece of my luggage, but I am not complaining - overall we've had great experiences.

Will definitely use them again for our next vacation.

Well I never said they were the best. I said one of the best. Which is correct. As i understand 72% is relatively good by airline standards
