Jet Blue April Fares?

Yes, we're happy with the fare we got, even if the kids have to miss a day of school (they don't mind). I owe you a big thank you for the Kayak info. I never would have known to check Kayak. I was only checking JetBlue's website, so "Thanks"!

I'm glad you got the flights you wanted for Feb. vacation. Now we can just sit back and watch to see if the fares go lower (not likely, but one can hope). I'm sure I could find a way to put a credit to good use.
Yes, we DVC types can always use an airline credit, since we've always got another trip planned. I'm glad I could turn you on to Kayak, a site I also discovered due to the DIS.

As for missing a day of school, I'm not too worried at this point with our 1st grader DD and 3rd grader DS. Maybe in a couple of years, if they are having trouble. But for now, they're doing just great even missing a day or two due to vacation.

I'm really driving myself crazy. I think we want a 10 day trip and I just tried every permutation of days possible - ideal is the kids only missing one day of school but that's $617. If they miss 3 days of school (Monday to Wednesday after vacation) the fare is $302. Since that's a very reasonable fare, I'm afraid the high fares might be accurate and going vacation week proper will be way higher than I budgeted. :sad2:

OK - just checked and my April flights are loaded for the 299 each way price. When do they lower them? We have never flown prime time, but $1800 for three people to fly to FLA is ridiculous!!

Wow, it would be $2100 for the four of us to fly to MCO during April school vacation! We're flying in August through SW for $472 for all of us. Talk about a difference. :teeth:

This was probably unnecessary. You should have just waited until prices dropped (and they will). April is a LONG way off, no need to rush and buy tickets in July.

Also, you can get a much cheaper fare right now, just searching for other airlines rather than JetBlue. Delta has a nonstop from BOS-MCO for the dates you wanted at $302 RT.

Sometimes waiting isn't always the best option. We are flying JFK to MCO, leaving Good Friday and coming back the Sat after Easter. On the Friday that the rates first came out for our dates, I was on day and night trying to get good rates and it wasn't happening. The cheapest was like $500 r/t. I woke up that Sat AM, logged on and was able to get $271 R/T on Delta. I quickly called the other family we are travelling with and purchased 11 tickets.

Delta did make a change already to our flights. When I called them to check on this, I asked what they price is now for our flight and was told $618 per person because the non-stop return flight is almost sold out. The res agent said "Wow, you sure got a good price for Eater week" So, if I waited, I don't think I would have gotten such a good deal.

I agree. The RT flight I booked on Sunday has already gone up $50. I keep watching in case it goes down, but I'm not holding my breath!

I just went through kayak and got jetblue for april 22-28 for 237 RT from ewr to mco. I couldn't find anything for the times i wanted for under 300.00. Thanks to you for recommending kayak.

I wrote this on the other thread, but today I booked for april vacation.

If I had stayed with our original dates of sat. 4/14 - sun. 4/22 we would have paid $2468.40 ($617/pp/rt)

I switched to sun 4/15 - mon 4/23 for $1508.40 ($377.10/pp/rt)

Saving us $960.00!

My kids will be in 2nd and 6th grade and I am not crazy about them missing school, but it IS only one day and the savings are significant!

Remember that this is april vacation so I personally wouldn't wait too long. I feel a lot better knowing that we are booked - just need to call Disney tomorrow to change the dates.

My sil tried to get a flight during april vacation this year and couldn't find a seat that wasn't extremely high in cost. They *could* go down in price, but I figure that the airlines know they got us so they an charge what they want. This april there were no AP codes during our vacation week as Disney knows they've got us too. :)

Maybe, maybe not. It is impossible to say for sure what the price will be for an April 2007 flight. I'd bet quite a bit that one could find a better rate in the next 9 months, even if you have to go with another airline.

We just checked with my stepdaughters' mom and she's fine with them missing 3 days of school so we'll be going April 16-25. We got a $257 fare - I couldn't pass that up!! And as an added bonus, I figure the parks will be a little less crowded the Sun-Tues of that following week - we'll take whatever little perks we can get! ;)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one - this year April vacation was the same as Easter week and there were no AP discounts but there were discounts the following week. Next year April vacation is the week after Easter so if it follows this year's pattern maybe we'll get lucky and get a discount. I'm not counting on it, but it would be a nice surprise!
