Good morning:

Does anyone have any information regarding Jet Bue and/or Spirit Airlines. I personally never have flown either of them and would like some specifics.

As far a fleet, comfort, safety, check in and prices.

I thank you for the assistance. :thumbsup2

Jet Blue is awesome. Seats seem more comfy, (website shows which seats have more legroom) attendants are nice and friendly but best of all every seat has a tv in the headrest so you can watch many of your favorite cable shows while you are in flight. I'm flying JetBlue on Sunday and my kids are looking forward to the 3 hours of tv!!! Best of all, when I had a rescheduling problem a couple of weeks ago their customer service was great, really worked with me to solve my problem quickly easily and beyond my satisfaction! I wish they flew everywhere.

I am also a JetBlue fan. I wish their flights were at better times some days but we have enjoyed our experiences on JetBLue. Also now that they are a participating airline in Magical Express, you can check in at the front desk of your Disney resort. :thumbsup2

Interesting that jim and meesie should mention the customer service folks. It turns out that all of JetBlue's customer service workers are women working from their homes in Utah! (note that JetBlue does not fly to Utah, but the chairman and founder is a Mormon). Apparently, JetBlue sets them up with a home office, and they answer phones during their assigned times, and attend to their other responsibilities (home and family) the rest of the time. They are apparently among the happiest and most efficient in the industry. So while other airlines send their customer service calls to young single folks in India, JetBlue sends theirs' to Moms in Utah.

I have flown JetBlue numerous times, and never been anything less than thrilled. As to their customer service, it's been top notch all the way. In February of 2005, my cousin booked 6 tickets on JetBlue for Feb vacation week. One teeny little problem. She booked the WRONG week!! She called JetBlue within about 3 hours of booking, and they refunded her every penny. They certainly did not have to, but they did. DS especially likes the TV and the Blue Potato Chips :thumbsup2 I agree with pumkinboy, I wish their times were a little more convenient for us, but I'll still fly with them.

I have flown both. I really like the convenience of Spirit out of the atlantic city airport as it is really close for us. But the customer service aspect of Spirit in my experience has been slipping. Also the prices of the flights have not been as competitive as the used to be which is why I tried Jet Blue in the first place, it required an extra 40 minutes of driving and then some additional head aches that newark airport demands but our Jet Blue experience was stellar.

Spirit has a very old fleet, from what I understand they are updating but to get any leg room you really need to pay for Spirit plus. I found Jet Blue's planes to be comfy, Even my DH who is 6'6 and hates to fly was very happy with Jet Blue, and they will continue to get my business now.

Don't get me wrong Spirit will get you there and the flight crew will be fine. If you spot a deal grab it. I just was really impressed with Jet Blue.

Never flown JetBlue, but have done a few flights on Spirit. There fleet consists of mostly MD-83's, which are old (before digital anything!) but in my opinion are still excelent aircraft. They are in the process of upgrading to an all Airbus fleet which will opperate the A319 on shorter flights and the A321 on longer flights. These aircraft are very comfy and are simliar to the A320 that JetBlue opperates on. As far as customer service goes, Spirit lacks it big time. There staff is mediocre at best and the check in process can be grulying (especailly in Detroit). There rates latly have been not even close to the legacy carriers and nearly every flight has to connect in Detroit or Ft Lauderdale. If you ran into a promo fare, or a competetive fare, I would book it, but other then that, I would suggest JetBlue....

Does anyone know how Spirit is doing financially?
I am going to Cancun Dec 2007 and am checking current Spirit prices now to get an idea of how perhaps pricing will be for next December.
Based on curent prices, 4 of us could fly DTW- Cancun for only $1350 taxes included. Out of Toronto I would be looking at over $3000!!!!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Financially, I beleive they are doing fine. They do have some excelent deals out of Detroit to Santo Damingo DR and Cancun Mexico.
