Jersey Week - Pin Codes

I know that the pin codes that had been sent out earlier this year did not cover Jersey Week. Did pin codes that were sent out last year cover Jersey Week? Or did the free dining cover that week last year? Thanks for any information you can give!

Last year's pin (and I believe GP Code) covered Jersey Week.

We went last year during Jersey week and no, free dining was not offered BUT....we did arrive a few days before Jersey week started and was lucky enough to arrive on the last day the promo was being offered prior to the blackout date of Jersey week. since we arrived on a day that it was still being offered, we had free dining for our whole stay!!!

Do you by chance know what day they consider that Jersey Week started last year? We plan on arriving November 6th, I hope that is enough to get us in there! If not we will pay full price but a discount will make it that more magical!!

It's hard to compare the 2 years since the convention is later this year. But last year we checked in on Oct 28 (a Thursday) and that was the last day of the discount I am pretty sure. The convention was the following Thur/Fri but a lot of school do have off the entire week or parents just pull their kids out especially if election day falls that week. But don't forget that Halloween was that weekend too.

This year the convention is Nov 10/11. So following last year, you would have to check in the Thursday before Nov 3. But again, that was last year. At the moment we are booked at the Dolphin and will stay there unless a Disney discount allows us to move since we need 2 rooms.

We went last year also and changed our check in to Oct 28th for free dining so if free dining is offered again by PIN and/or GP the most likely last date to check in would be Nov 3 but even Oct 27th wouldn't surprise me since Halloween is getting so popular. There were AP rates but offered very close to the date and very limited resorts and room types. WDW is getting much smarter about the black out dates and if you want to go during premium times you just have to pay more. AT least so far those dates aren't getting the extra charge on dining.

I had to cancel our trip with F/D in August since we can't go then and changed it to Jersey week with higher room rates, no free dining, higher airfare, but we are going to Disney Linda

Been visiting WDW for near 20 years.

Was accidently there for Jersey week about three years ago. (didn't have any idea there was such a thing)

I wouldn't recommend purposely planning a visit during that week, if AT ALL avoidable.

We're going to be there during part of Jersey week ( 10/31 to 11/13 ). Never heard of Jersey Week, what is it and why is it so bad?

Our districts' schools are traditionally closed Tuesday through Friday of the week of NJ teacher's convention. The Tuesday is election day, Wednesday is teacher inservice and Thursday and Friday are teacher convention. Different towns do a variation maybe closed Monday, too but all NJ schools are closed Thurs and Fri. For this reason, lots of NJ families come to WDW this week in November since it's easier to take the kids out for a day or two rather than a whole week.

This will be our 10th visit during Jersey week. Only 2 times has my DS missed a day of school. Since he is in HS, last year and this year we leave after school on Monday, return late Sunday night and no school missed.

Some ignorant people like to slam all people from NJ. Like what you see on TV about the Jersey shore, or mafia or Italians is real. I don't live by the shore, I'm not mafia nor Italian. But the more people that stay home during Jersey week, the happier I'll be, the wait times will be shorter!

I have to say if you went in 2008 it was pretty bad. It was the year the Phillies won the WS and the majority of the visitors were still riding the excitement of winning. It was loud, I felt badly for the few Rays fans who were there.

And if you were expecting the first week in Nov to be a quiet time and discovered that half of NJ was there I imagine you would be upset. Kind of like the people who think the first week in Dec is quiet only to discover the Pop Warner kids take over the values.

That's why this message board is so great- to hopefully avoid these type of surprises.

Thanks J's M and DCBride for all the information! We.ve been to WDW during extreme busy times and slow times and have fun either way! I'm surprised they don't call the 3rd week of April, NY week, thats when our kids are off regardless of where Easter falls and everyone goes to WDW for some sun and warmth.

I'm live in a NYC suburb and the surrounding districts all have different weeks off. Some prior to Easter, some after. I have found that WDW in April is crowded pretty much the entire month. Spring Break for the entire country varies, but usually falls some time in or around April. Again, another time period we would prefer to avoid.( Not to mention April air fares are pretty high.) You can go a month later and enjoy beautiful weather and fewer crowds.
I understand people have time restraints and kids in school. We all do. The time you vacation is your own. I'm merely relaying my experience after having "accidently" visited during the 2008, "Jersey Week". It would not be a preferred time for US to visit ever again. Had I known there was such a thing, it would have been a time period I would have chosen to avoid. Lesson learned, now I know. It's not for me. Simply sharing my opinion. No more, no less. (and I am Italian, and in no way feel the idiots on the Jersey Shore are representative of Italians, or residents of NJ, they're just ignorant white trash, no matter what shore they vacation on)

As mentioned previously..it's a travel message board. If someone had a bad experience during a particular time period...I'd want to know, so as to be able to consider that when making my OWN decision as to when to travel. It may be significant and factor in to my plans, or it may not. I'm just not willing to get on the band wagon of "Yaaay..Yaaay..Jersey Week was great", as in MY experience it wasn't. That was MY experience. For those that choose to vacation during that time period.."Go for it"..and enjoy your trip.

We aren't from NJ but many districts that start after Labor Day have end of the quarter teacher work days the same time frame. I have to say after almost 20 WDW trips the ONLY times I've had memorable issues with poor behavior from other guests it was during Jersey week and individuals who either said they wee from NJ or wore clothing with NJ on it. Obviously not everyone from NJ is like that. Last year my 9 year old daughter was massively shoved out of the bag check line by a NJ lady right in front of the security guard. We had our HDDR show interrupted by a large late party who were loud and disruptive through the show and did not supervise their kids at all. That same night diff group of Jersey folks created a drunken ruckus on the bus back to the resort to the point that we were worried about whether the driver could safely drive. These were the worst 3 but there were other issues. If you can go another time then I certainly would. We are going again but planning most of our park time a dew days in advance and doing more tours and such on the days later in the week.
