One of the travel agents mentioned this, and I was a little worried. We are looking to honeymoon in WDW from 10/17-10/24. Does anyone know when this "Jersey Week" occurs? Or, how the crowds are during this time? We are having a *really* tough time getting into the hotel that we want (Swan). UGH!

Thanks in advance for any info. -- much appreciated!!! :-)

Hi -- I am pretty sure its the first week of Nov. I was there last year from 10/28 to 11/6 and its was around election day .. The crowds were not too heavy - it was also during the Food & Wine festival which was tons of fun.. Go enjoy you will be fine.. Michelle

Jersey week (the week when New Jersey schools have days off) is in November. I think your dates are around the Funai Golf Classic, plus Food & Wine Festival & Halloween parties. It's sometimes hard to get into the Swan due to conventions at the hotel.

I don't know about Jersey week but i can tell you why your having a hard time booking the Swan....there is an IT convention that entire week...it is held annually and is probably the biggest IT conference of the year anywhere...rooms at the Dolphin/Swan/Yachtclub/Beachclub/Boardwalk fill up fast since the convention is held primarily in the Swan/Dolphin....sorry for the bad news...

We live in South Jersey & the kids are out of school on 11/10 & 11/11/ Some may be out the entire week due to elections, etc., but I think you should be OK. Have a wonderful time - don't worry - there are much worse things to stress over than wondering if all us New Jerseyites are down there (really, we don't bite.)

Yeah for the IT Convention!!! It allows me to have another trip to Disney and yes it is one of the biggest IT conventions around. So everybody beware 'cause there will be "computer geeks" everywhere (to include myself). :teleport: :teleport:

What is the name of the IT convention and where can more information about it be found?

Wow! I have an almost eerie knack for picking the weeks when there are HUGE conventions at WDW! We went in January during the National Home Builders Association conference, now the IT conference in October! And the golf tournament, too! We'll be there Oct. 14-23.

"Jersey Week" depends on the date of the NJ Educational Association (NJEA) Convention in Atlantic City which is held in early Nov and during which the NJ public schools (and some private, too) are off on Thurs and Fri. This past year I think it happened to also be the week that included Election Day (which was a presidential election, too) so some schools closed all week (and some people just took off the whole week since their kids would've just missed 2 other days). Might not be the same this year.

NO!!! it is not that crowded...I don't know what all the hub-bub is about..
I have not found it that crowded at all.

I walked on most rides and the ones you normally wait for, you still do..
such a great time to go.

and I believe, and quote me if I am wrong..many NY schools are out the same week

The Mortgage Bankers Association Convention also hits on the end of those dates, officially starting on Sunday, Oct. 23., with some pre-conference events in the days leading up to Sunday. Unlike the NAHB in January, which was at the Orlando Convention Center with major spill over at all the local resorts, the smaller MBA event actually is AT the Swan and Dolphin meeting facility. I know all of the MBA rooms at the Swan are totally booked already. We were lucky to snag a room at the Beach Club.

I am from Jersey. And a lot of people head down to Disney. I believe it is the same weekend as Veterans day. Nov.11???
