Jen's Journal.....Baby Steps to a new me

Jen,

What a nice way for the restaurant to honor your friend! It made me cry too! ::yes::

I'm sorry that your back is still hurting. Still sending :wizard: and prayers your way.

Take care sweetie! :grouphug:

its party time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hi girls! i am in such a great mood today, its so odd but i love it..tomorrow is starting me going to curves and going on the treadmill..and i really need to start watching what i eat again..i was doing good, but then started the emotional eating and there it went..
i am on spring break this week so i am planning on going to curves every day( not over doing it since i still have stitches in, but to get going again)..im not going to even step on the scale till next week..
plus, reading everyones journals about the treadmills got me motivated..i am going to start on that ..
i cant keep making excuses for myself -which is what i tend to do..ill say "im too tired" "i have homework" i"i dont feel good"
i am so done doing that!!!!! plus NO more eating after 7--i dont care how hungry i think i am! so tomorrow is honestely starting a whole new thing for me...thanks guys!

Hey, Jen! Glad to see you are having a good day today. Sorry about your friend going to Iraq. I have a couple of friends over there and one of my best friend's husband is over there. It was really nice that the restaurant brought out the cake. It would have made me really emotional too.

Good for you Jen! Glad you are remotivated! I hope you have an excellent day! :cool1:

Jen, I hope your back is feeling better. Take it easy at Curves. It's always hard for me to just get to the health club. Once I'm there, I enjoy it and I always feel so great when I'm finished but getting there....UGH!

Enjoy your spring break!! Boy do I miss those days!!

Thanks for sharing the story about Steve and the restaurant. I teared up as well, but it means a lot to me that he is willing to defend our country. I'll certainly keep him in my prayers.

Now, quit eating junk food! We've gotta start thinking about Spring weather and then it'll be time for shorts and bathing suits before we know it!! ::yes:: I'll try to take my own advice too, OK?

Thanks so much for all the encouragement and support you leave in my journal. I really appreciate it!

Have a wonderful Monday! :sunny:

Hey Jen...did you make it to curves today? Hope you are doing well! Thanks for sharing the story..it made me tear up too!

Enjoy the rest of your spring break! :flower:

hi everyone..
i am very ashamed to admit i did not go to curves today--i woke up late and my back was so sore--i dont care how sore i am tomororw morning, i am going--i wiill take it easy, but i have to get moving..
for the l ast 2 days, i have not eaten past 7 pm which is good for me..and now i am working on cutting out all junk...i bought a bunch of yogurt and peaches and stuff like that today..i CAN do this...
doreen--thank YOU and everyone for al lthe encouragement i get too,,even when i whine :) you girls are the best, and i really couldnt do this without you--i think thsi weekend i am going to try and buy the taebo tapes..
i just need to GET myself moving..im so un]motivated...i dont know why,,i have trips to wear bathing suits at and i am so ashamed of my stomach..
have a great week guys

WOO HOO!! Way to go at not eating after 7 PM!! That's a tough habit to break! ::yes::

If you are sore and can't make it to Curves, maybe you should have a plan B? You could do 10 minutes of stretching at home. That would help your back if you're having muscle tightness but not if it is sore from the incision & stitches. A quick walk around the block or on campus wouldn't be too tough, even in cold weather.

Have a great day, Jen! :sunny:

plan B is a good idea--we dont have blocks really..they are HUGe..about 5 miles around easily...BUTTTTTTT
i did make it to curves today-- i did all the stations except 1, which i knew would pull the stitches...and then i came home and did the treadmill for 10 minutes,,not alot, but i have to work myself up, i know that ...
im already half way done my first bottle of water..and after i shower, im going to have a yogurt..PLUS i threw out all the candy that no one else in the house eats...i dont need to see it! thanks guys!!

alright--another night of not eating after 7..although i did have some ice cream--but tomorrow im planning on doing curves and upping to 20 minutse on the treadmill..
how do you guys go for so long on the treadmill? i feel like i can barely do it..helppppp

thanks!

Hi Jen,

Great job cutting out the eating after 7PM. What is your secret?

I have a question about your treadmill training. What speed and incline are you using? You may want to start out a bit slower at 0 incline. It took me a while to build up my endurance.

Take care,
Beth

Baby steps on the treddie... I would keep the incline at 0 to start and pick a pace that your heart is pumping, but you can still talk....

Good luck! :cheer2:

I have heard the trainer at the gym say to go slower at a higher incline and then rotate, go at a faster pace with a lower incline. This should be rotated throughout your workout so you can have a better workout. I just heard him tell this to a person starting out last weekend.

That was a sweet story about your friend at the restaurant. Good luck to him over there and godspeed home. :wizard:

Way to go Jen...not eating after 7...making it to Curves...and hitting the treadmill!! Oh...and throwing out the candy! Hope you have a wonderful day! :flower:

thanks guys..
the treadmill does not have an incline --its a bit inclined, but you cant change it...we gt it from a family friend when they were moving...it was doing 2.0 yesterday i think,,but it felt like it was going faster..

i yell at myself if i get hungry after 7 and then just drink water LOL--i may not make it to curves today, because i have a 5 page paper i need to write by 2:00 today...but then im clear of homework for the ret of spring break..
this weekend im going to get the tae bo tapes so i can use them too..
im starting to actcually want to exercise..who would have thought? LOL

Hi, Jen! I just wanted to drop in and congratulate you on all the great changes you have made -- not eating after 7, going to Curves, throwing away candy!!! Good job! I know how hard it is to be disciplined while you have all that school related pressure, but you are doing great!
Enjoy your spring break -- hopefully, once your paper is done you will be able to relax and do whatever you want.

BTW, will add your friend Steve to my prayer list. I am glad he has the support of your family and that other Americans demonstrate an appreciation for his commitment and sacrifice.
