Jenny Craig or NutriSystem

Well, I started January with a lot of hope but have blown my diet again. I can't seem to stick with eating healthy and exercising. I always cheat. I am thinking that if I had a diet with a specific meal plan that I would do better. I need someone to tell me exactly what to eat and how much.

I am going in to talk to Jenny Craig tomorrow and have been looking into NutriSystem on the web. Does anyone have any opinions on which is better? Is there a big difference in price? Does one seem to work quicker? Is one healthier? My main question is, are they both safe? I would love to hear from you all on this.

First of all stop beating up on yourself. We have all been there, you are not alone.

I have tried every diet in this world and failed at all of them. Yeah I lose the weight as I eat their cute little prepackaged meals but then I had no idea of what to eat AFTER I lost the weight. I was out of control once again and every time I lost I gain it back.

Finally, I found the answer. For me it was working with a dietician who showed me how to eat. I am not the kind of person who can count carbs(done that ) or count calaries(done that too). I know eat units of food from all the food groups...just in the right portion.

I've done both, and if I had to choose one or the other, I'd go with Jenny Craig. At least I seem to recall they did a better job of integrating real food choices, versus bags of powder = insta-food. But while both were successful for losing weight, neither worked to maintain.

Now when I want to get healthy I just make a concerted effort to eat right and exercise every day. I always end up losing the weight that way. I've come to accept that I'm poor at maintenance and just have to keep finding events and dress occasions to keep at the goals.
 
I am currently using nutisystem, havent tried Jenny Craig. I like nutrisystem, because of the convenience and I think Jenny Craig would be similar. I have heard that Jenny Craig is more expensive, but I'm not sure. Nutrisystem is about 280$ a month for your food. The longer you stay on it the larger your discount is, so the price does go down. There is a pretty good online site with a diary for keeping track of your calories and exercise, and a board to discuss issues on if you wish, also counselors are available. I log my food onsite there, but do my journal here. The portions of food are small, you really have to concentrate and space them out. It takes a while to find which foods you like, some i think are icky, some I think are good. They add protein to everything, even snacks and desserts and I think that really helps.
