Me (Jen) 28, mad about WDW
Alex 25, anything for a quiet life

Sunday 5th August

Hurrah the day was finally here! We got up at 4:05am, it felt like I had only just fallen asleep tho! After a quick cup of tea and slice of toast we were off to my dads who was taking us to the airport. We left his house at 5:15am, it was already getting light and we had a nice easy journey to Gatwick. I had already checked us in online the day before so we just went to the bag drop off which took a couple of minutes, the normal check in queue was absolutely huge, Im always suprised that more people don't check in online. :confused3 We had a cup of coffee with my dad and step mum and then went thru security which took less than 10 mins, the queue was much shorter than when we went at Christmas.

We had a look round duty free and I bought some perfume and then we breakfast in McDonalds, I wanted to go somewhere else but all the other places were packed so I settled for an Egg McMuffin.

The gate opened on time for the flight, we were in seats 32 A&B so were one of the last rows to board, as usual when we were going thru the last security check Alex was searched, normally at this point they just pull him to one side and it seems that we have just been randomly picked for this, however this year when the man saw Alex's Albanian passport he held it up and shouted across to someone else "this one needs a full check!" Needless to say this was really embarrassing and Alex was not at all happy! Anyway, once they had frisked him, made him drink from his water bottle etc etc we were finally allowed onto the plane.

We flew on Barbarella which we have been on before, we had the entertainment system without the games. We sat on the plane for 90 mins before we took off, some passengers had left their passports at the security check and the staff needed to return them, they kept putting out calls for the people to make themselves known but they didnt and it took ages to sort out, we ended up taking off at 12:15pm.

Our seats on the plane were great, we were right at the front and got served quickly with food and drinks. We watched Shrek 3 which we thought was rubbish and then I watched Shooter which was good and Alex slept. The flight dragged a bit at first but was ok after the first couple of hours.

We landed at 3:30pm which was only about 40 mins late and were off the plane and thru immigration really quickly. It took a while to get our bags, esp the second time, I was starting to wonder if they had gone via Spain when they finally turned up. When we walked outside we had our first feel of the Florida weather, I love that first blast of heat that you get and you finally know that you are there! We were on the Disney bus by 4:45 pm, we had to wait for a few other people and were on our way to the hotel at 5:15pm. It took about 25 mins to get to WDW and we were the first drop off at Pop Century.

Check in at Pop was nice and quick, we were given room 5453 in the 60's building, it was a great room, instead of the 2 doubles we had the biggest bed I have ever seen!! Our room was on the 4th floor so it was quiet but we were literally opposite the pool and food court so it was very convenient for those. :goodvibes

We unpacked which only took a few minutes and went to get something to eat, we both had nachos, yum!

We had a look round the shop and then went for a swim, we watched the Epcot fireworks from out balcony and then finally went to bed!

Tomorrow - Epcot!

great start Jen, I'm sorry to hear about what happened with Alex, I'm not suprised he wasn't very happy !

Great start! Sorry about what happened at the airport that must have been very embarassing, my parents always get checked (obviously look shifty! :)) but I am not surprised he was annoyed.

Can't wait to read more

Lovely start, Jen - tho' not surprised Alex wasn't best pleased with security! My DH always gets his passport double-checked and we were recently told by customs that it's because he's flagged as a Libyan terrorist!!! I almost wish they hadn't said anything as I'm going to worry whenever we go thro' Passport Control from now on... :sad2:

Great report, shame about what happened to Alex at Gatwick.

Hi Jen

Great start to your report, poor Alex though, I hope it didn't take too much away from the excitement. It was so lovely to see the pictures of the Pop Century which I adore, and I was happy to see that you had my favourite Pop tea, nachos!
