Hey Everyone!

Was hoping some of you more experianced Disney Worlders could tell me how the clubs and restaurants at the BoardWalk are. Also if there is one you can see the firwaorks from.

We are staying at the BWV Aug 27th through Sept 3 on our Disneymoon and I have some romantic stuff planned (carriage ride, horseback riding, Laua at the poly) and I was hoping I might be able to make a reservation for one of the restaurants close to the hotel to eat and watch the fireworks.

Thanks! Sorry for the rambling! :-)

I always stay at the Boardwalk hotel, so I can obviously I think it's a great place to be.

If you like cheesecake, go to Big River Grille & Brewing Works. I've tried cheesecake all over the place and this has, by far, the best cheesecake I've ever tried (NY Style with thick graham cracker crust). Plus, they brew their own beers, which is a definite plus. Also, quite a good menu.

The Flying Fish is an excellent restaurant, as well as Spoodles. Can't go wrong at either.

I haven't spent much time in the Atlantic Dance Hall in the past 3 or 4 trips, but it always seemed to be a bit empty. Maybe I'm just catching it at the wrong time, but I'd probably say skip that place.

Jellyrolls is a blast. It's my second favorite place on the Boardwalk to the ESPN Zone (I'm a sports nut). I definitely recommend going on a Tuesday night as that is SIN (Service Industry Night). While it will be packed, that's a good thing. The more people in a dueling piano bar the better.

The Blue Zoo is an expensive but very good seafood restaurant in the Swan and Dolphin. Also, in the Swan and Dolphin, is Shula's Steakhouse. Very expensive but it's well worth the price.

You can kind of see the fireworks from the Boardwalk, but you miss a lot of it because of the buildings blocking your view (if you're on the Boardwalk itself and not on a balcony).

If you're there, I'd recommend walking up towards Epcot and getting a view from there (it's only a 2 minute walk).

Many in my family also really love Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club. It's a buffett style dinner with everything (shrimp cocktail, ham, chicken, etc...).

Oh, and if you want to make reservations for a restaurant to eat and watch the fireworks I can think of no better place than the Rose and Crown in the UK Pavillion in Epcot.

We did that two years ago. We had our table right along the back of the restaurant, outside, right on the lagoon. We were seated there for the fireworks and it was the best seats I've ever had for the show (still haven't done the boats yet). Just amazing.

I'm a Jelly Rolls person....love it....of course we limit ourselves to once a year so we dont get into trouble...but cant leave the place without a good story...and like the poster above said...no one is ever in the dance hall...boo...back in the day it had a full band played all kinds of swing music w/a line out the door...now its all blinking lights and top 40

Ohhh, so mad to hear about the Dance Hall - we read about it online and were all excited about the swing dancing (not that I/we swing dance but with enough beer in me I'll try anything once, ok maybe twice :cool1: ). But we certainly are not into the thumping techno type music.

I was just reading about the Rose and Crown - I think that’s the place then. We both like the laid back atmosphere and an English or Irish pub seems fit our style.

I think I'm going to call tonight and make the reservation - hope we can get one. Does anyone know when the fireworks will start in late August? Or do I just tell the reservation person?

If your pub people hit up the new Irish pub at Pleasure island...its wonderful..good food...three laid back bars...almost more of a restaurant...but irish music and dancers...plus no cover

Cool, we will! Will def, do Jellyrolls too - I wen to a piano bar at the Ny Ny in Vegas a few months back and it was a blast

We'll probably go more then once so I'll tell you what kind of trouble we get into...

Illuminations usually starts at 9pm.

I think Rose and Crown accepts the last reservations at around 8pm. So you can sit, eat your dinner, relax with a drink and wait for the show to begin.

Remember that you must go into Epcot to get to the Rose and Crown (I'm sure you already knew this).

Make sure you're out on the back deck next to the lagoon. You dont' want to be on the side as you walk in.

We made reservations for Sept. 10 about a month and a half ago. If you book ASAP, I'm sure you'll get something.

Nice.

I'm going to have to check it out when we go on our honeymoon. I'm a huge fan of Irish pubs.

My last 3 trips or so I've just kind of gravitated away from PI. I would just go to Disney Westside and do the Disney Quest, have a nice dinner, and go to the La Nouba (which, if you haven't seen it... is amazing. I've seen it 5 times).

I also love going over to Cap'n Jack's Oyster Bar.

Hey...we will be there celebrating our honeymoon and first anniversary at the same time. We are staying at the Beach club villas from the 25th to the 3rd. We plan on going to Jelly Rolls and ADH (where our reception was) on the 31st. We had our informal welcome party at Jelly Rolls and everyone STILL talks about that all the time!! I also love Big River and my husband of course likes ESPN. Spilios is pretty good...I think Flying Fish looks awesome but my husband is anti-seafood so I've never actually gotten to hang out there. I agree about ADH...it has had a hard time surviving as a swing club. I loved it when they did swing...I do think that they still do on occasion but not on a regular basis. It's also closed on I think Sunday and Mondays...Hope to see you around!!

hello. i'm getting married in march at WP with reception at the YC. i would love it if you could tell me more about your informal welcome party at jelly rolls. did you just meet up for drinks? or did you actually set up a party with jelly rolls? looking for something to do for guests and would appreciate the input. wedding date 3/10/07. thank you

Totally informal--no set up party...I just put it in our welcome itinerary and encouraged people to come join us. I checked ahead of time to see what a good time would be for people to come and they told me that that night was a big cast member night for the new college program students...oh well:) An interesting thing was that I wanted to start a tab at the bar. Apparently Jelly Rolls does not accept the Disney room card for payment. When I tried to give the bartender my credit card, she was kind of rude about it and told me that she had to charge me $100. I was taken aback at this and asked why and what if we don't spend $100. She said she was required to charge $100 and then refund me for a credit of anything we didn't use. By that point I honestly didn't care, and would not have been surprised if we had run over $100. So I told her to go ahead. From that point on, I kept telling everyone (including the bartender) to put drinks on my tab, but people refused and paid for their own. At the end of the night she ended up just giving me a charge receipt for like $63. Everyone LOVED it and many people went back the following night (the night before the ceremony) on their own. The only disappointment was that the piano players played only one of our two dozen requests in the 4-5 hours we were there. But the place was rocking with fun!! I also was bummed because not one person thought to bring a camera or take any pictures:):) Oh well!

So nothing formal...just drinks and good music and good friends...but you know, sometimes that is the best...totally informal and no pressure
