We went there last night. I had read not to put up much cash with song requests, because they couldn't do a lot of them. I did find it very enjoyable, but my hubby said it was way too loud. We put in 3 song requests with $10.00 and picked 3 popular songs. We picked Sinatra it Was a Very Good Year, Pocahontas, song of the wind, and the Muppets It's not easy being green. The couldn't play any of those. It seemed to me they only liked the really lively banging the keys sounds of a Billy Joel, Elton John, Adele, and the Backstreet Boyz, etc. the place was jumpin fun, but my hubby told me he won't go back! Just sayin!:cool1:

I requested songs from my favorite piano player, Bruce Hornsby and they didn't know any.......:confused3

I went for the first time last week , but as someone who works in a Piano Bar up here,. Those big loud,. High energy songs are the ones they like to play,. It keeps the party feel going, the energy up & theyre popular enough that most people & a wide range of ages know the words to most.

I was confused on the other hand when I ordered a pretty basic & popular shot & had to tell the bartender what was in it...

Haven't been there yet - DD says we'd enjoy but the noise always puts me off - it's on our Bucket List :)

We love going to jelly rolls, however last time we went I left disappointed. The experience really depends on who is playing. Last time it wasn't the usual guys we see and the replacements weren't as good.

Most of the songs you put up would be something the piano players would do during the first hour when things are quiet and slower songs will work. As the evening progresses, they prefer to play upbeat songs to keep the crowd entertained.

Scotty is the one who usually does Disney/Muppet songs and he is quite good. :thumbsup2

Yep, if you want to request something that isn't well-known or pretty uptempo, your best bet is to request it during the first hour or stay up until 1:30 and get it in just before closing :) Their goal is to keep people having fun and buying drinks, and if they don't know the songs they're more likely to leave.

We have enjoyed our three times at Jellyrolls and have always found that if they get to our song and don't know it/don't want to play it, then they will ask us if there's something else we'd like to hear. Now we generally sit up front and stay for several hours ordering drinks so they may give us some extra perks for that!

As for the noise- I went to Howl at the Moon in Chicago on Saturday night and that is loud! If you ask me, Jellyrolls is pretty quiet for a piano bar.

If you're looking for a quieter music experience- check out YeeHaw Bob at Riverside- smaller venue so it's not quite as loud!

We love Jelly Rolls and have been going for years. Yes some of the guys are better than others. The last time we went which was a year ago I did find that they were doing songs that didn't necessarily appeal to all age groups but mostly to the younger crowd. We never put in a request for a song because it seems like they pick and choose which songs they are going to play (which makes sense) and we aren't willing to stay until 1:00 or later waiting for our songs so we just listen to everybody elses. Early in the evening they seem to play request songs just from people shouting out to them since it isn't very crowded yet.

I've been to Jellyrolls several times and is it worth the $10, no, I personally do not think it is. Is it fun, yes, or it can be.... I have been on nights when its pretty dead and boring and wished I hadn't paid the cover to get in. IMO they play the same songs almost every night no matter what you request so I see that as pointless. I am not partial to showtunes and I've been there when that's pretty much all they played. I think the crowd that typically goes to Jellyrolls is the same crowd who went last year with the exception of some first timers and its that way year after year, night after night. So the majority of people have their favorites and they pay the money to request the songs. I just don't really see the point in paying at the door then paying for them to play songs that I know they are going to end up playing because of 2 reasons, 1-they are 'feel good' songs and people want to hear them and 2-their 'set list' is pretty much the same every night with a few songs shuffled around night to night.

i've been to Disney many, many times, but the most fun is at Jellyrolls! They don't always play my songs, I always pick odd ones, but, they work real hard to get everyone involved and singing! Best place to singalong! The Dance Club on the Boardwalk is downright boring - won't waste my time there again. My only issue with Jellyrolls is their mediocre drinks. I like a good cosmo, not rock gut cheap liquor, after paying a premium to get in, I expect a premium drink, even if you chose to serve it in plastic - bartenders - get it together.
