It's been a weird few weeks. DD had been living with her dad and due to some stuff I won't go into here has moved back with us, thank heavens. I'm glad she's back, I've missed her so much but I'm having an adjustment getting back into the mom groove. We've got her settled and back in school and adjusting which is good.

Our kitchen sink clogged on Sunday. DH spent 3 days trying to fix it with no luck so the plumber came on Wednesday. I have my kitchen back finally. I told the plumber he was my hero because I was so sick of takeout.

Then we got the news yesterday that my MIL has passed away. She's been ill for several months and we knew it was coming but still. She was very kind to me and I'm so sad about this. DH's family lives in England so he'll be flying over on Monday. I can't go because my mom is in CA and I don't have anyone else to leave dd with. DH's family has been weird to him (come, don't come, why didn't you come to visit before she died, etc.) and I had hoped to be able to go as a buffer plus the fact that I'd have liked to pay my respects to his mother. The cost of airfare is another deterrent. And, it's selfish, I know, but I'm really going to miss dh next week.

DD's birthday is this weekend and we have the whole family coming so in the midst of this other stuff, I have to clean and decorate, etc. and comfort dh and celebrate with dd at the same time.

Wah, wah, wah--just call me Whiney McWhinester. I just have a lot of drama in my life right now. I know it'll get better in a couple of weeks but I might have a meltdown myself soon. :teeth: There have been more issues with my extended family (which is why my mom's in California) and I'm concerned about her trying to take care of them when she's not in the best health herself. I'm also paying all her bills while she's gone which means she calls me every night to make sure I mailed the insurance bill (or phone bill or whatever) today. :teeth:

ANYWAY, misery loves company and if you've stayed with me this long--share your miseries large and small! Or share the good things that happened this week and cheer me up. :teeth:

So sorry about your MIL but glad your daughter is back. Hope the school situation is better this time around.

Thanks, Disney Ella. I think she's a lot less dramatic about these things now and since she's been away, can look at them more objectively and realize that these are not the only people in the whole world (or even the whole school.) She is much more appreciative of me now which is a good thing!

Sorry to hear about your MIL. Glad your DD is back home. I can't imagine what you went thru while she was gone. :grouphug:

Wow...that's a lot to handle. I know all about those kind of weeks, and they suck! (Yeah, that's some helpful and encouraging advice there, huh? :teeth: ;) )

I am sorry about your MIL and that you can't go with DH. I hope his family isn't too hard to deal with for him...

This is a hard time of year for all that to be happening too, with the holidays coming and the hustle and bustle of that added in. Hopefully things will quiet soon, and by the time Christmas rolls around things will be calm and cozy with just you and your loved ones safely back home. I think I'd put a picture of that in my head and refer to it when I approached the melting point.

Much hugs! PM me if you just want to explode somewhere away from real life!

Thanks, everyone! I just needed someone to whine to a bit--I'll be fine. My sister and my niece will be here tomorrow along with my niece's kids (who ALWAYS make me happy) so I'll have someone to dump on IRL then. :rotfl: I needed to get it all out so I don't say anything to DH or to DD, both of whom need me to be the tough guy right now.

You guys are the best.

So--who had a GREAT week? I want to hear some cheerful, chipper stories!

Well, my week this week wasn't stellar, but my week last week was great! Hmmm...a happy tidbit from WDW...

The first day there, my DH picked up one of those spinny light thingies...this one was shaped like a Mickey head and had multicolored lights inside of the head that made different patterns. He said, "DD would love this" and put it down. Every shop from then on, I'd catch him staring mesmerized at this thing, but he'd always put it back. Finally, at the last store (Emporium, MK) before we left, he was again staring at them and I made him buy it.

Fast forward to home, when he takes it out of the suitcase and starts it up for DD. She is immediately mesmerized as well, and then starts cooing and laughing (totally ignoring the 3 or 4 Minnie Mouse toys I bought her ;) ). It has been her favorite toy since, and he is just puffed up with pride that "Daddy bought her favorite toy of the trip!" They are so cute!

Hang in there! I'm sorry for all you are going through right now but like you said things will be better in a few weeks. And what better timing - for all of you to enjoy the holidays.

I have to say I'm someone who had a great week. DH and DD's are healthy and happy. My sweet Dad is doing great as well as my sisters and friends. Job is great and I'm almost done my Christmas shopping!

I better stop before someone wants to slap me :rotfl:

Hang in there, wishes for some good luck to come your way.

Now THAT'S what I need to hear! I love those spinny things, too. Hepzibah Matilda has FABULOUS taste. And she knows to suck up to Daddy. Nothing better in this life than being a Daddy's girl!

No slapping here, Trish! I need to live vicariously through others till I'm not so whiney. :rotfl: I'm glad you're having a great week!

Kind of like the drama I was experiencing awhile back!! Feel free to whine any time! :)
