Jeebus Hates Tebow

Yeah, I'd like to see info on that as well. I know that they do offer guidance on resisting homosexual urges, but I have never seen anything from the organization that says they think gays should be put in prison or killed. They believe in traditional marriage between a man and a woman, and do not support same sex marriage or civil unions. From what I have seen, that is as far as they go.

Same here....that is all I have heard...I have really not heard anything about Tebow thinking that Gays should be killed or put in prison :confused3 IMO is that was so I would think it be be being announced all over the air waves.

just like how Vick was when they found out about what he was doing or felt was not a bad thing to do.....

I haven't heard that either, let me know if you do, then I'll change my mind about him.

I guess what kinda makes me sad is that here is a guy who is simply religious and he gets mocked and ridicule.

Best quote of the thread. I bet if he was Muslim, he would be salivated over. News flash to the gay DISers.... most hard core christians consider homosexuality a sin.....

Yeah, I think if more folks knew exactly what Focus on the Family stood for, they might not want to be associated with that group. Look under Southern Poverty Law Center Intelligence Report, Spring 2005, Issue Number 117.

Read the whole thing and I didn't see one place that said FOTF believes gay and lesbian people should be imprisoned or killed. If I missed it, please quote it here.

I did see what I know, that they are against gay marriage and want to preserve the traditional type of marriage.

Now, that being said, there IS a group called the American Family Association that has been known to say homosexuals should be imprisoned.

SO glad that you can speak for most Christians.:rolleyes1 And I'm not sure what you mean by hard core Christians. You either believe and accept or you don't. No Christian is more or less Christian than another. Now the hard core "religious" people are committing a sin themselves by turning their backs on others who should be accepted and treated with love and kindness. I think that "sin" will be dealt with more harshly than anything a gay or lesbian does. Just my opinion. As for me and my house, we don't judge, we just try to be the light we are told to be.

I think that you are mistakenly equating "hard core Christians" with "right wing Christians". These are not synonymous. I would consider myself a "hard core Christian" but I lean much more to the left and am a staunch supporter of lgbt rights. I also would support Tebow's right to praise Allah just as firmly as I support his right to praise Jesus. I like Tim Tebow but certainly do not put him on a pedestal; I expect him to make mistakes and misjudgments, just like everyone else does. I'm not going to agree with everything he says or does but I can admire his conviction and faith.

While I do on occasion read that blog you reference, I rely more on SPLC investigations so it's a point of FOTF 'n their known association with other dangerous groups that I draw the conclusion that they believe gays should be imprisoned or put to death.

I'm doin' my best to respect the wishes of the board 'n not post anythin' religious or political so it's difficult to connect the dots as I see 'em for you. And between you 'n me, I'm sorry so many folks don't realize there's a large diversity in how Christians believe 'n practice their relgion. In other words, I know a great many hard core Christians who believe gay equality is a good thing, how they resolve it with their God is not my business. :goodvibes

It's beyond sad when people make fun of others for praying to God. I'm myself happy that he not only walks the walk but talks the talk as well.

I don't have a problem with someone praying to God...but for a Football game? Sorry, in the grand scheme of things...not real important.

your statement I bolded is not at all true....I am a Christian...I go to church, also have a personal relationship with God, try to live the best I can to my faith......I also believe in Gay Marriage....and I am not a left leaning.....and voted for Gay marriage when most of all the left leaning folks in Ca. voted against it.....

some Christians like radical Christians take the Bible to mean what it says literally...like an eye for an eye....and live their lives as such....most Christians are not like that....and most Christians think that the Christians that are radicals are nuts......just like any radical religion things are taken way to far and out of context.

You also don't have to be a religious person to feel that marriage is between a man and a woman....its what we see and how we grow up......as more of the norm.....that does not make one an evil person...just the way they feel....just as those that believe that it should be for everyone....does not make them evil either...its an opinion and a feeling...and a way of life they believe in.

Not all Christians are created equal....we are all different people and follow our faith to the best that we can.....we are not perfect, we make mistakes and are just Human beings....

My sons relationship with God is by no means the same as my relationship with God.....do you get my point?

not sure what you mean by "for a football game?" :confused3

Like I said, I seriously doubt he prays for a victory. (Dear God, let me win all my games!! LOL) I do think he prays about the game, safety, giving their best effort, sportsmanship etc. but not a "let me win."

I'll throw this out there for people who think praying about anything other than world peace, healing of all the sick, food for the starving is just not important.

Biblically, we are told that ANY concern of ours is a concern of God's. Therefore, prayer can be about anything, anytime, all day long if you need it. God's a powerful God. There are no limits on the God I believe in.

I don't think he prays for them to win. He most likely prays for God to do his will, and for the team to work together and stay safe. And maybe he prays that he will continue to live his life in such a way that people will see the light in him.

I think that's exactly what he & other athletes pray for. They're asking for guidance, for protection, for strength, and on.

How is this thread not religious..at all?

I am guessing because we are talking about the controversy around Tim with his football career and what he is representing to others being it is not just religion but the man in general...

also people are remaining level headed in here...not starting a big problem and discussing the man in general....at least that my guess why it has been allowed to continue...if the Mods see it going over board they will shut it down or tell us to talk about Tim without his religion....I think it started to get a little off topic than we intended......

There are religious people, and there are people who follow Jesus and from what I've seen they are often two VERY different types of people. I would guess that type of personality difference exists in other faiths as well. I respect ALL people who strive to follow their faith, but I don't have much patience for people who use their religion to gain control, power or personal glory. I honestly have seen Tebow as the former rather than the latter.
just read this.......

what do you think?
I think this type of thing has become a very real problem. Not sure about the kids praying and being attacked but just attacked in general.

We had many, many HS football teams that had to have police escorts out of the gym after football games this season. It is a growing problem. This one school rarely wins and did not win this night and yet the police had to take the kids into the gym and them escort them to the bus to leave the school after the game! Craziness.
I'm not sure how bad it is after basketball games around here.
