What are my odds of getting my oldest in the jedi training? Is it something I should even attempt? TIA!

How to sign up for Jedi Training:

NOTE: DHS has been opening to guests (unannounced) at about 8:30-8:45AM (or so) on days when the published opening time is 9AM.
I'd plan on arriving at DHS -at least- by 8:15 so as to be in a better position to enter the park when the gates open to sign up for Jedi Training and to grab TSM FP's.

On AM EMH days, I'd be there by 7:45 or earlier (if you are a WDW Resort guest.)
The line will start forming as soon as the gates open for AM EMH.
How soon the CM's will actually start taking names during AM EMH can vary.

That said, arrive well before park opening time.
When you get inside, take the child with you to the sign-up area.**

Note: If you have not made advance FP+ for that day, if another member of your party is available, you can send that person (along with ALL of your park tickets if you don't have MagicBands) to grab FP+'s at a FP+ Kiosk while you and the Jedi candidate child(ren) head for the Jedi sign-up.

When you sign up, you'll get a time for the child to return to the Jedi stage and participate.

**Sign-ups will be either just past Hollywood & Vine Restaurant, or at the Sounds Dangerous entrance (even inside the Sounds Dangerous building,) or at the Jedi Stage.*
Look for the sign-up area, in the order of the above, until you find it.

Sometimes you can ask for the child to be signed up for a specific show, later in the day, but that can depend on the CM doing the sign-ups.*
However, it's easy to get a later show, even if they are doing it first-come, first-served.

Just pay attention to those being signed ahead of you.
If they are signing for a show earlier than you'd like, just step out of line slightly and invite guests behind you to "go on ahead."
Keep listening and when they begin to sign for the show you want, just step back into the line and sign up.

Jedi training sign with ages: 4 yrs - 12 yrs

Sign at the attraction:

"The Jedi Council welcome younglings
between ages 4 and 12 to participate."

If you're in line when park opens and go straight to the signup, you shouldn't have any problem getting him signed up. On peak-crowd days, though, the assigned show could be late in the day.

Your child must be with you when you sign up.

You don't say how old your oldest is, but I think the upper age limit is 9 (might be 10).

ETA: I stand corrected. It's 12 (thanks, jco_direwolf!)

Thanks. She will be almost 8. We plan on being at the park all day, but didn't plan on getting there that early, but I guess we can sleep when we get home after the trip, right! LOL!

Note: You do not need your park tickets to sign up for Jedi Training so,
if another member of your party is available, you can send that person
(along with ALL of your park tickets) over to grab FP's for TSM
while you and the Jedi candidate child head for the sign-up.

Hey, Robo, this will need an update very soon, no?

Is tomorrow D-Day for Hollywood Studios? (can't remember if it's Epcot or HS tomorrow, but then I know the other one is Thursday).

At any rate, an offsite guest can be making FP+s at a park kiosk while another adult is with the child(ren) in line for Jedi signup (assuming the group as at least two adults in it).

As long as your child is 4-12 and you can get to DHS, 30-40 minutes BEFORE published opening. Pretty good since it's first come first serve.

The child has to answer some questions about "will you follow the jedi master's instructions? Do you want to do this?" But honestly I've signed mine up 4 times now for it. went very smooth except for the first time (the questions threw him.)

Remember DHS opens before it's published opening MOST DAYS. So strolling up to the gate at 9a puts you as much as 40minutes behind everyone else.

The age range for Jedi is 4 - 12. The CMs will sign her up for a session that fits your Fp+ schedule so have a copy of your Fp+ schedule with you when you reach the Sounds Dangerous building. Don't let others behind you go before you as that limits your selection of sessions.

If I'm going on a low crowd day, do I need to proceed immediately to sign up my child, or could I squeeze in a ride on TSM and then go sign up? I'll be at HS on 7 Feb, and it is the recommended park that day (easywdw).

On a low crowd day, there is only one group of Younglings (15) per session, so, it is imperative that you speed walk to Sounds Dangerous with your child if JTA Is a priority.

This MIGHT work.

But I wouldn't risk it if Jedi is a priority at all. I would risk it only if being able to Jedi didn't matter all that much.

Yup. Done.

Thanks!
