Jedi Training Question

I see the age posted is 4-12 years old. My 11 year old has recently become obsessed with Star Wars after seeing the new film. Is it mostly very little kids who do this or are their a decent amount of kids more in the 10-12 range? I never paid close attention to it before but I thought it looked like mostly little ones doing it when we were there. My son is 5'5" and I don't want him to feel out of place if it is something mostly little ones do. Just curious what others have noticed.

I think it's a mix. My nephew was 101/2 when he did it and tall for his age nobody gave him a second glance. Lots of adults on the board that wish they could train to be a Jedi :ewok::darth::chewy:. May the force be with him!

My 11 yo son Luke just did the new version and he's five feet and he wasn't the biggest kid - he had a blast along with my 8 yo Finn - the Jedi masters got a good laugh out of their names and kept asking if those were their real names - they are - if your son likes Star Wars he will love it - my DH still jealous he couldn't do it.

There were definitely some older kids when my 5 year old did it. At 5'5" he'll probably still be one of the tallest but not out of place.

My son did it when he was 11. It was a mix but most of the kids were younger. He did not care at all-he was in heaven! Absolutely do it.

In my experience, it is mostly younger children in the 4 to 8-year-old range. By the time my older sons were 10 or 11, they started feeling out of place and didn't like being the tallest kid in the show. They started refusing to do it even when their younger brother or brothers were participating. So it depends how self conscious your son is - he will, in fact, probably be the tallest or one of only a couple taller/older kids in the show. Will that bother him?

When we did it last year I would guess most kids were under eight. Could have just been our show though.

My son is 11. He loved it. He did it opening day of the new show! There were all sorts of heights.

Thanks everyone. I will talk to him and see how he will feel if he is the only "big kid" there.

I think it makes a difference if there is someone other than Vader there. I haven't seen the new show, but my kids like the show at Disneyland much better than WDW because both Vader and Maul are there - the smaller kids got Vader and the older, more coordinated kids got Maul. I think it gives the older kids a different "feel" for the show.

the new show has Vader and stage and the Seventh Sister on the ground. If the friend of the Seventh Sister is ill or didn't show up then they fight Maul but that's very rare.

I have a questions about the younger kids. How strict are they about kids being 4? I have a 3.5 year old who I know will be heartbroken if he doesn't get to do it with his older brother. I imagine this isn't a safety requirement. Do they check on age?

They aren't strict at all. They don't check the ages, especially if he can look and act the part. It's more about how well does he interact with the registration person. They were pretty hard on my son at registration since it was early, he was tired, and when you combine those two with strange people asking you questions - he didn't really put his best foot forward. We convinced the cast member he would be better by the time the show came around - and he kind of gave us the look like "really." Again we knew our kid and when the time came to put on the Jedi outfit, he was so into it he even asked for a smaller size. So I think you should be fine if your son just goes along with the "screening" questions. Also...they do aim to keep siblings together too. So the older one can keep him under his wing.
