Does anyone know if you can still make posters for the Jedi training? If so is there a certain size you have to stay under? My kids really want to do it but I have read on here of not being able to make posters anymore.

I didn't see any signs when I was there briefly yesterday. But I would say just to be courteous I wouldn't make a sign so big that it's bigger than your kids in any direction. That's just rude to block another kid's view and to block the CM's view of another kid trying to be picked. And if they are looking for signs at the bag check, an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper isn't going to stand out.

They allowed it last year, but will keep the sign after the child is picked

FYI, we've never brought a sign, and my son has been picked each time he's tried. Have your child wear something stat wars themed, get there early a snag a spot front and center, and be sure to coach your child in advance to follow all the cast members' instructions exactly and show a ton of enthusiasm. That's what has always worked for us, and no need to carry around a sign all morning. Good luck!

We've used a Manila folder as a sign. Open it up, make your sign, then fold it back up and tuck it in a backpack. Pretty small and easy to handle. My son has been lucky enough to be picked when we did this on two separate trips. We're Canadian and are sure to put a big red maple leaf in the center to show something recognizable from far away.

We tried making a large sign with clip art of Disney princesses wielding lightsabers for my friend's daughter. The sign read "The Force is Strong in This One." Security attempted to confiscate it, but after walking away back towards the hotel and folding up the sign so it would easily fit in the backpack, the sign made it inside the park with no problem.

At Jedi Training Academy, my friend's daughter was chosen. We folded up the sign and put it back in the backpack, which lead to a surreal moment afterwards when my friend's daughter showed the sign to the princesses when she met them at Fantasy Faire.

I don't know if I'll ever forget Princess Aurora looking at the sign and asking my friend's daughter "what am I holding?"

My son made one when we were there in September. He just ripped a page out of a sketch book he had with him approx. A4 size. It then folded up really easily small enough he put it in his shorts pocket. He also wore his Star Wars shirt and showed lots of enthusiasm (as instructed by the Jedi Master). He was the first one chosen,. He was standing front middle on his own I stayed a few metres behind him, I was right next to the rope for the walkway (Darth Maul snuck up beside me and scared me when I was focused on taking photos! haha). Yes they did keep the sign after he was chosen.

Good Luck

Definitely nothing big. A friend all innocent tried to bring a Ratatouille movie poster into the park to give it to me as a surprise. They wouldn't even let her take it through bag check, I had to come and get it and take it back to the hotel.

That would have been one hell of an expensive sign. ;)

Thanks everyone! We went and bought the kids new Star Wars shirts to hopefully stand out (and hopefully people realize my daughters is a Star Wars shirt as its a dog wearing a Boba Fett helmet. I think the kids are just going to wear that and maybe take a piece of paper and decorate them. They want a larger poster but also hard to even get anything bigger out there in our luggage successfully.

I think we are planning on finding time to put this in our schedule at least once the 3 days we are there so hopefully they get picked. If they get picked the first time it just means we have an extra gap of things to do the other days!

We were just there last week. DS had a printed 8.5x11 paper sign and held that up. It was no problem at all getting through security. He was picked to participate, he was wearing a Star Wars shirt and Hat, but the biggest thing for him was being active, jumping up and down to get picked.

In 2008 when our son was picked we did not do a sign, I had made him a T-shirt with the Mickey and Minnie as Luke and Leah doing the pose from the original starwars poster. And then wrote on it I want to be a jedi in training. We did this using Iron transfers. Seemed to work for us :)

Good luck!

Neither one of our kids were picked (they just wore their Star Wars shirts) but they were both okay with it. Most of the kids picked were a lot younger than my 11 and 9 year old. Of course one dad complained for a good 5 minutes about his son not getting in and they allowed him. I felt like that was disrespectful to all the other kids but oh well.

We did enjoy the show and we told our kids we could try again but they both passed and instead made their own light saber afterwards.
