Jedi Training Academy questions

It is for kids 4 to 12. My oldest daughter was 13 when we went ad could not do it because she as too old. We probably could've lied about her age but I feel if I lie about her age than how can I punish her if she lies to me?? She was okay with the other kids doing it and she took some awesome pictures for me.

I wish they had a few sessions a day for teens and even parents. It would be fun!

I agree with the ropedrop thing. You really have to be there early to be able to sign up for Jedi Training.

We also had Photopass, but I would still recommend getting to your slotted time early and taking your own pictures. For whatever reason, there was only 1 picture of our daughter's fight scenes and many of our son's. The people who attend tend to be parents who have children in the event, so it many less intimidating.

Jedi training is #1 on our Disney trip for my Star Wars obsessed 8yr old ds!! My question/concern is this:

We have a 8:15 reservation (I'm seeing there is still 8:05 available so I can switch to 10 mins earlier if it makes a difference) at Hollywood & Vine the morning we are doing Hollywood Studios, my younger ds is crazy about Jake so that's a must do for us at some point too. Will we be able to make it in time to sign up for Jedi training or will we be out of luck for the day?? Should I try and switch the reservations to lunch instead??

The sign up is so close, I would just send your husband and older son at 9am while you and the younger one finish up and pay for breakfast. I would still switch to 8:05am.

thank you so much!!

it will be our first time navigating the park! *dumb question alert!!!* i assume Hollywood & Vine is located IN Hollywood Studios and there is obviously a way for us to get inside the park before park hours? it's my understanding there is a CM you can follow (by the gates i believe?) to go and sign up for the training when the park opens, but if we're already INSIDE can we/dh still go and wait by wherever Jedi Training is to sign up or we better off finding whoever the CM is at the gates and just following them along with everyone else??

clearly i'm very confused and overwhelmed by all of this and VERY new :scared:

Yes, H&V is inside the park. you tell a CM your reservation time and they will let you in. Take pictures by the hat :)

The walk to sign up is less than 5min away. Since it is a buffet, you will probably be done if you sit at 8:05am but let your other 2 go over right before Rope Drop and beat the crowd while you finish up. He should be able to get in the first training which is nice.

Thank you so much for all your help!! I've changed our reservation time already :yay:

Sounds like a good plan...just realize that 'rope drop' at HS varies, but is always before the posted 9am opening. When we were there, it was 8:40am. I would send DH and older child out at 8:30 and see if they can sign up.

I would feel 'safer' being inside HS (for an ADR) before rope drop. This should help you, not hurt you. H&D is a casual restaurant (come and go) and you are very close.

Yes, keep an eye out for people. If you see any in the park, get your DH and son to run over. They could easily go over and come back and finish if rope drop is earlier but my bet is they will both be done. As soon as you and your little one are done, you should head over to Toy Story Mania for fast passes, even if your DH and son are still in Jedi sign-up line. Hold onto all 4 entrance tickets yourself to get the fast passes.

I went to H&V years ago at 8:05am. We were done and out the door by rope drop. When you are seated only a few other tables are filled and you see the characters quick and get in the buffet line quick too. It is the perfect time to go. Rested kids and fresh food. Plan on getting to MGM at 7:50am at the latest so you are not rushed.

thank you all SO much!! thank goodness i stumbled upon this thread!!!

i'll make sure i'm there early and i'll keep an eye out for any "action" going on outside ;)

If you go to HS on an extra hour of magic day is rope drop earlier and does the signup for Jedi Training Academy open earlier? :confused3

Yes, I believe it does.

On my last trip about a year ago we went to HS during extra magic morning hours. When the park opened I took our cards and went to pick up Fast Passes at TSM while the wife took our kids over to sign up for Jedi Training. By the time I got back to the Star Wars signup area from picking up the fast passes they had just finished signing up for Jedi Training. We then all went over to Star Tours and rode that about 4 times in a row with no wait, all before the park opened to the general public! A CM also asked us if the kids would like to be guest directors of the Indiana Jones Stunt show that morning, which was pretty cool. By that time it was our FP time at TSM, so we walked over to TSM, got more FPs to TSM and then rode TSM. It worked out really well that day, could not have been better.

I posted this question in another less lively thread, but our son has intently watched Jedi Training at both DL and WDW and has been dying to doing it next time we go to either park. Well, here we are two weeks away from our trip to WDW, and I find out that the minimum age is 4. He is only 2 months shy of turning 4 and will be crushed if they don't let him participate.

Obviously it's my fault for not researching it a little more thoroughly, but after seeing them select kids from the crowd at DL (even a child who couldn't possibly be 4 yet) I didn't think I needed to do additional research other than finding out how to sign up for the show at WDW.

What do you guys think? We're not going to tell our son to lie about his age even though he looks, acts, and could easily pass for a 5 year old. We will probably tell him to answer that he is almost 4 and hope that the CM will let those two months slide a little. Are we setting him up for heartbreak?

Worried. :worried:

Unfortunately you probably are. I was there with my niece awhile back and she was there her birthday week and they STILL did not let her. They went back the final day and did it after she turned 4. I watched many CM's ask the younger kids their ages directly. Maybe someone has done it but considering 4 is already quite young to deal with Darth Vader, they may not budge.

I agree!! This should happen. I'll be 18 next month and would love to do this.

Anyway, everyone is correct. The minimum age is 4.

My wife is making costumes for the girls to wear at the parks. For our HS day they are wearing Princess Leia costumes. My plan is if both of them want to do this I can talk one of them into calling Vader "Daddy" and giving herself to the dark side.

I wouldn't put it past both of them to do it.

Hi all, I saw a kid with the training light saber and the padawan cloak with a Jedi Academy patch on it. Is it possible to buy these? Or get them after doing the training?
