I'm wondering if there are any fans here in this HUGE community! And, if so, if anyone has any info on when the next book might be released. It's been a long time since Shelters of Stone & I can't wait for the next one. I've been to the official website, but it hasn't been updated in years.

Anyone with any inside info?!?

I agree! LOVED the 1st three, struggled to get through the 4th.

I'm a big fan but it took her 12 years between books 4 and 5 so I'm not holding much hope we'll see book 6 anytime soon. She is actually the reason I swore I'd never read serialized books (still haven't read Steven Kings series) BUT R.K. Rowling sucked me in with Harry Potter and then immediately started taking 2 or more years between her books. I'll say it again, after Harry 7 and Jean's 6th I'm never reading another series until all the books are written and I can read them back to back

Let's hope I"m wrong about it taking 12 years again!

HUGE fan here! Though I liked the first three the best. SUPPOSEDLY she is working on the next and there are to be a couple more after that ...but we'll see. I've re-read Clan of the Cave Bear a few times, listened to it via audio book and of course watched the DVD.

I got into the earth's children series in high school when the Plains of Passage came out. I read all 4 books and then had to patiently wait. By the time Shelters of Stone was released, I had been waiting so long I waited for the paperback. I figure it will be another 10 yrs or so before we get another book so I'm not holding my breath...LOL I do love those books though.

Thanks for the replies! I think it's been 4 years since SoS, so I guess it could still be a really long time. I was just hoping!

Tori: Stephen King's Dark Tower series is complete, and it was really good! I read it as he released it, and went back to read the previous ones when a new one came out. (I've read HP, too, of course! Had to, for the sake of my children, you know! )

This site has some update information from her son, Kendall. She is writing the book so that is good. Hopefully it won't be such a long wait again. I started reading the books in high school so this has been a 20+ year "wait" for the end of the series for me.

I had a sociology curriculum using the Clan of the Cave Bear book. It is a really interesting study on how societies work even today. The kids LOVED that section of class.

I don't know.
For years they said that she was going to write books 5 and 6 together and they would be released within a year of each other. It was my understanding that her husband became ill about a decade a go and she really just lost interest in writing.

When book 5 came out and it was so horrible. I almost would have swore that she had just paid someone to ghost write it for her or something. It really didn't seem like she had her heart in it.

I've never heard anything about book 6 since. I'm sure I'll buy it if it ever does appear just so I can wrap that storyline up in my head.
