Ugh sorry for this rant but just needed to get it off my chest with my dis friends.

Does anyone else find that they have friends(so called friends) that do nothing but moan and upset you and have a go at what you are doing. After being upset earlier in the week and being told I need to grow up and get over Disney! Now got told by same person after she'd asked where id booked that I have basically had things handed to me on a plate and that a year after graduating from Uni she wouldn't even be able to dream of going to Florida!

I was thinking to myself am I really that much of a spoilt brat or come accross that way even though I have paid my way rent wise etc since 16 had a part time job from 13 then full time job at the moment and have been working hard to earn the money for my holidays and house. I just realised that you know what I'm not the one with the problem's they are they are jealous that I can choose to do this and travel the world they can ***** and moan about it but they have never been they can't give an opinion and if they go around upsetting you then you know what maybe they aren't friends.

Does anyone else know anyone like that whose just jealous and always moaning about your decisions?!

 Sorry you're having problems with your friend, but like you say, it's just jealousy, and it really is their problem

And as for growing up, please don't, us Disney fans never want to grow up ::yes::

Have fun with all your holiday planning hun :)

You don't have to worry about that Mandy! :thumbsup2

Ive just decided to cut them out of my life completely if they want to go around upsetting people then they aren't real friends.

I'm going to enjoy my planning even more now no way am I stopping something that I love.

Dont let her upset you, it is her problem

Tell her if you need to grow up - then so does a lot of people all around the world as so many people go to Disney:thumbsup2

I love the magic of it and if that is childish then so bit it - i dont want to grow up either:cool1:

Don't let it upset you:hug:

I find people like to tell me I must have loads of money if we can go to Disney and this winds me up.....because we haven't.....we can afford to go every other year, but its a push and we don't have spare money to flash arround. Some of my friends go out every weekend and spent at least £100...we don't, we choose to save this money for disney...

....sorry getting carried away with my own rant:rotfl:

The so called friend is the one with the problem. Never change for anyone, keep enjoying Disney and you will see her turn greener all the time :lmao:

I have had the whole jealousy thing from people even some family not about Disney but the whole living abroad thing but life is too short to worry about what they think. ;)

I, as well as many others on here, have been subjected to the comment about 'always going to Disney'
I received an email from a so called friend a little while ago on a totally unrelated subject, and about half way through he suddenly got on a rant about how we pretend that we go to Disney for the kids when really it's us that enjoy it and we need to grow up.
Needless to say I responded in kind, explaining that not once have I said we do it for the kids, that we love it just as much as them and that we never feel closer to them than when we are in The World acting more our kids ages than our own.
Let them get on with their 'life' (such that it is) while you continue to enjoy yours - it sounds like you have earned that right.

Thank you everyone this is completely the case with us we can afford it because we choose not to go out and spend a fortune every weekend and also because me and bf have both been working about 60 hour weeks for the last few months with overtime occurring on a regular basis.

It should stop now anyways I've deleted number and deleted on facebook/twitter as I'd just about had enough of it.

Whatever you do in life there is always someone trying to put it down.
I have the same problem with my own family and all I get is why do you go there every yr?? Etc Etc...
But it changed a bit this yr when my brother went over to Fla for a wedding came back and guess what - HE LOVED IT!
now he is booking to go again for xmas - seems weird now to see him posing by the castle in a mickey t-shirt after all the grief I used to get...

The problem is that a lot of people seem to think Florida is just a massive theme park and why cant i just go to alton towers :rotfl:
Life is too short- enjoy planning your trips!!! :goodvibes

Some people just don't get Disney at all. Total jealousy, you just ignore your so called friend and have the best time possible . As Netty said lifes too short .

This will be our 5th time and we have to save for 2 years to get there, we make sacrifrices to achieve this. Its our happy place and we love it, it is important family time to us . People have said to us why do you go there? Why not go somewhere else to experience different holidays, surely the boys would love to go to spain etc etc ?
My Money my choice !! and when someone else starts paying for my holiday then they can dictate where I am going !!!

You rant away its helpful !!!

Enjoy disney xxx

Lots of my friends & family know I love Disney so just let get on with it, fortunately my dad, cousin & few others do to.

When I told another cousin I was off to NYC earlier this year, he started getting personal questioning how could I afford to go. So I shot back that I work hard (12+ hour shifts) & save hard. I don't always have a holiday every year although this year is an exception to the rule in which I will have had 4 by the end. But I have been doing long hours, overtime & being careful with my money.

He was the one that got his house repossessed (I don't wish that to anyone) but he bought higher then his means, his then girlfriend lived with him rent free & they ate take out every night & he wonders why he can't afford stuff!

Don't let it get to you. You don't have to justify to anyone what you do with your own money & life:hug:

I often get questioned about our trips and how often and how long we go, espically with 5 kids, but the way i see it is, how i choose to spend our free cash is up to us, we dont smoke, dont drink, dont go out much (god i just made us sound like bores ...lol), but we do save for our amazing holidays and our kids have wonderful memories.

One of my frineds moans:confused3 about not having enough cash yet she smokes 20 - 40 every other day that at least 20£ a week and over £1000 a year, she could easily save for a holiday, its just how you choose to spend it.

Some people just don't get Disney at all.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there - people are quick enough to criticise because they don't understand the whole Disney thing. And IMO that's just bl**dy unlucky for them!

I know where you are coming from. I'm working in my uni holidays to be able to go back to the world. But when I tell people why I'm working I always get met with "but you are 21, Disney is for little kids"!!! The grief you get being student and not wanting to go to some far off remote country to go and "discover" yourself!!

It's not worth the pain, and I think you've done the right thing with cutting your "friend" out. Easier said than done I know, but try and forget about it. And enjoy the planning :)

Xx

Looking at the pic at the bottom of your post it looks like you've done a pretty good job of discovering who you are :goodvibes

 Don't let it get you down babes. xx

I have a 'friend' like this, who is very "ANOTHER holiday?" "Disney again" and badmouths me about being flash etc. etc.

Apparently I got it all "handed to me on a plate", as of course it was no effort for me at all when I graduated with a good degree, got a job right away, work 5 days a week +overtime, have my own home etc. etc.

I could quite easily have taken her route and not gone to uni, got pregnant while living with parents, got a council flat, got pregnant again, broken up with that baby's dad, got pregnant again, spend benefits on iphones and cigarettes etc.

Instead I choose Disney - and I'm the bad one of the two of us!

It is hurtful, and she has a knack of making me feel guilty, but when you look at it on paper I have no reason to. I think it's just because I know she'd love to take her kids there, but she's got herself into a situation where it just isn't on the cards.

Thanks guys.

Youve all made me feel a lot better.

My family aren't bad thankfully mum, dad, little sister love going as well I also have other friends that have been and loved it and we came to a conclussion that it's the people that haven't been that are quick to judge and slag it off, I have never known anyone whose been that has nothing but a good word to say about going.

My bf actually had a bad opinion on american's from the stereotype before we went for his first trip he didn't think he'd like it because of this but then as soon as we got there he changed his mind he loved it and said everyone there was so friendly and nice.:goodvibes

Oh I hope you are ok! I don't just have friends tell me that how do we afford Disney arent we bit old for it? I work in a hairdressers and the are you going on holiday question is very frequent lol! I say yes Orlando Florida I get people laugh saying say hello to mickey for me! what you are going and dont have children? How do you afford it and a mortgage?

Me and Dave don't go out and drink at the weekends and we save hard to have a disney fix

I hope you are ok Jackie I wish all us Disney fans lived in one town and all felt the same together and all the spoilers could be far away from us lol
