This time of year I am always so "sad" I am not a SW fan!

I have tried SO hard to "get into" Star Wars, but it just doesn't happen.

It must be AMAZING to be a hardcore SW fan and go to SWW at DHS!!!!:)

What's not making you get into it??

The movies are excellent start from 4 and watch 456 123.

For me I watched them when I was younger so a lot of imagination time spent playing with the toys, video games, and burning out my VCR tapes made me a huge Star Wars fan!

Next time I'm around I'll bring my DVD collection well I have the digital collection now I'll bring that!

I'll make a fan out of you!!!!!! (Mulan pun lol)

We aren't die-hard fans and we still go! Don't get me wrong. I grew up on episodes 4, 5 and 6 and my husband loves all the movies, but we aren't completely obsessed. It's still so much fun to go! We have our outfits planned (just Star Wars tshirts and a sundress for me) and will do the meals and fireworks. I have fun seeing everyone in their costumes!

As I see all the plans for SWW crop up, I HATE being a Star Wars fan! I work in a school, and there's no way I'll ever get to attend one!

You can borrow my fandom, if you like @WEDWDW ;)

it's pretty amazing. I'm an old school fan but I don't go to cons. Tomorrow I get to see the Emperor! Last year I saw Luke himself.

My family are all SW fans. I am not. I watch the movies and enjoy them but I'm not in to all the hoopla surrounding it. In June, we'll be there for the last weekend. The SW's fans will go to HS on the weekend. I will happily take my grandson to the MK.

Thankfully schools let out here in May so even though they are all teachers, they still get to go. I'm happy for them, they enjoy it a great deal. Just not my cup of tea.

I do not at all like star wars and I'm a huge Sci-fi lover. It's so exceptionally corny but not in a good Guardians of the galaxy way. It takes itself too seriously to have fun with its absurdness. I just can't help laughing at the chewie thing...

But tons of people love it so whatevs. I'm happy it's going on cause I'm hoping it draws away crowds to DHS cause I certainly will be avoiding that park except to do tower of terror.

try something like rebels on disney XD - its star wars but a very different feel.

I love Star Wars and really enjoyed the Star Wars weekend we attended. There are other events in WDW that I don't get but I just find other things to do. You can sometimes feel a little left out though so I can relate.

I saw a picture of Mark from last year's SWW. It looked like he had his Kingsmen beard set to go.

We'll be there for the first half of the day on the 29th.

That's what I'm talkng about-that sentence means NOTHING to me,have no clue!lol:)

How amazing it must be to have a whole weekend at a Disney Park devoted to something you know "inside and out'!:)

Really now this is fascinating. I'm serious I'm not being sarcastic.
You don't recognize these names;
Luke Skywalker
Princess Leia
Darth Vader
CP30

Anything? Join and go to SWW. You don't have to know everything. May I also suggest the Phineas and Ferb Star Wars episode. I love Star Wars but I don't know it inside out. I know most of it.

Ew.

Not sure I can call the movies "excellent", but they are what they are.

What got me was reading the books. It's as close as a filmmaker has come to truly allowing fan fiction, because Lucas doesn't write the books that expand the universe of SW. Good stuff, and even though it's not Lucas writing, you get to know the characters on a deeper level.

That's what I'm talkng about-that sentence means NOTHING to me,have no clue!lol:)

But his sentence had nothing to do with SW, apart from Mark being Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker. Google "kingsmen beard" and you find that it's a beard oil product. Hamill was told to grow a beard for Star Wars (by the way, when you google that phrase you get pictures of him with his beard). So the poster saw MH with his beard in a picture. which you can do, too, if you google "kingsmen beard".... and maybe not everyone does this, but when I run into something I don't understand, I look it up.

DS and I have enjoyed all the SW movies. We know the characters and plots. (I grew up on the original trilogy) But I am just not big into it like so many other folks. The characters and storylines don't mean anything to me once the movie ends, and I have no desire to make any effort to immerse myself in SW fandom. DW and DD don't care for SW at all. On our upcoming trip we will do DHS on a weekday so as to avoid SW crowds. I will say though that a few years ago we were at DHS on a SW weekend and it was pretty cool seeing the stormtroopers appear above the entry gates.

You can say that of a lot of fandoms. Some of them take it too seriously. I think it's a hoot when someone said the Stormtroopers can't hit the side of barn (They Can't). For me it's just pure fun. The only time I get annoyed is when someone confuses it with Star Trek. But that's life. Not everyone knows everything or feels the same way about it you do.

I'm only a casual SW fan, I really like the movies but haven't ever spent a lot of time devoted to discussing it or collecting the merch. As a long time Disney fan, I think it's cool to have DW come into the "family." I'll enjoy seeing the attractions and activities while still pursuing my original passion of traditional Disneyana. :earsboy:

Also I have a feeling with the new movie coming out and Disneys quality being spread through it will make some converters!

Use the force DISers! It's an escape and a super fun one at that!

Very true, fandoms can be crazy. I also dislike the revered Firefly so I'm used to getting flak for not liking certain stuff. And of course I love stuff that others don't. Like yea, my favorite final Fantasy is FFIX. :P You get used to the differing opinions when you're a nerd haha!

If you're not a fan of Star Wars (for whatever insane reason), you can still get a kick out of it by trying the RIFFTRAX version of all 6 movies...some of the funniest things I've ever watched in my entire life (and I am a huge SW fan). www.rifftrax.com
