So the designer came out with a Target line, and I'm thinking that this might have actually rivaled the Missoni debacle.

I ended up getting what I wanted online last night, but I had to purchase as soon as the item hit my cart because some people experienced disappearing items - stock was going quick. I have a Target card so shipping was free. But I'm a little worried - I ordered up a size because I thought that if it was cut like a designer series, it would run small. However, I'm being told it runs big! I thought about running out to the local Target this AM to try on a few pieces in case I had a problem, but I called ahead and the girl on the phone said the place had been swamped.

I was curious and looked at Ebay and some of the stuff is going for over 100 dollars! It is just silly. There are posts on the Target Style facebook that some people were dealing with customers in the stores who would come in and buy every purse and walk out - obviously to sell at a higher price. There were limits placed on online purchases (good!) but not in store I guess.

Just wanted to know if any of you had similar experiences or trouble last night online. At least people were helping each other online last night to get items by posting links and tips - they were rolling them out on the website in different areas, taking them down in certain timezones, and basically - the site was a nightmare to navigate. Certain items came out at midnight eastern, others were rolled out sporadically until about 3AM eastern when the entire site went live. What an irritating situation, but at least I think I got what I wanted.

I was interested in going this morning at opening, but I forgot. I was curious to see the crowds, if any. I wonder if peple stayed away do to past experience with Missoni.

Right now I'm worried because I am hearing that a lot of the online orders are being cancelled. I hope not, since my orders were early in the night.

Well - as long as there are people willing to pay $100+ on EBAY for Target clothes, it will continue to be like that.

If your clothes don't fit I guess you'll be able to sell them on EBAY.

Something people don't get is that when big-name designers create a line for low-end stores, the quality is not nearly what it is in his regular line nor does it look as good. I remember when they did "Versace for H&M". Everyone went beserk, but the items weren't that great and they were way overpriced for what they were. Nicole Miller at JC Penney -- same thing. Same goes for Coach and Coach Outlet --- the items made specifically for Coach outlet are very poorly crafted compared to what you would buy in a retail Coach store.

I don't get why people would go so crazy to buy out all the inventory on the items when they're not really "designer" but more of a "knockoff" of his own line.

Oh I totally agree with you for the most part. Even the designer said that these items were different and did not build off any previous lines. Which makes sense. However, there were some really cute items I was interested in and I felt that the prices was right.

I will tell you that I won't purchase hardly anything at the coach outlet. The stuff looks awful and what is available has been picked through terribly.

Oh, yes, you got that one right!!! I had taken my DD to the Coach outlet hoping to get her a little purse or something. I couldn't believe the way the items looked, the craftsmanship was very poor, and they looked like the ones you buy on the street for $5. They DID have some Coach retail items but they were full retail price (and not even current season!)

Issac Mizrahi must feel really bad that nobody ever went so gaga over his Target collections that they cleaned out the stores when they hit the racks. I have never even heard of this new guy who is featuring his fashions at Target :confused3.

Jason Wu is a pretty big NYC designer. http://www.jasonwustudio.com/

The difference with Isaac Mizrahi was that when he placed his designs at Target, people weren't so obsessed with labels, names, brands, etc. as they are now. I think Isaac's line went to Target back in 1999 or 2000? Back then, people weren't crazily obsessed as they are now.

That, and the Mizrahi stuff was available in decent numbers. It was restocked regularly. This stuff - when it is gone, it is gone. This stuff is deliberately put out in a limited amount so that it is scarce, and it isn't restocked.
I think the worst thing is all the ebay resellers.

And I agree - the Coach bags I looked at at the outlet looked like PLASTIC. It was actually such a turn off that I haven't bought any Coach at all since that visit - it just looked cheap! :-(

Kelly - I think that WU got really popular after Michelle Obama started wearing some of his pieces.

I was at my local Target when they opened on Sunday. There were about 10 of us waiting in line. Target had very little! They had two displays for clothing and one display for the bags & scarves. Some of the display hangers were empty so I don't know if they didn't get everything or if the employees pulled it for themselves before the store opened.

I got a cat t-shirt & scarf for my niece (she likes cats) but they didn't have any of the tote bags.

I am so over Coach now. Like you said, after seeing the cheap stuff at the outlet, it's just a turnoff. Not to mention everyone you see has those horrendous bags with the huge "C"s all over them. Ick.

I was an opening cashier at Target yesterday. We had 50 in line at opening. We too, had a display of handbags in accessories and 1 rack of clothes.

The low supply creates the high demand frenzy.

Trust me, the employees, did not pull it for themselves. It would have been an automatic firing to either buy the stuff or ring a co-worker up before opening. Same thing for hiding stuff and buying it later. We have cameras on us everywhere, and it would be highly suspicious to show up at noon with a cart full of clothes. (as if we could afford it)

We make $8-$13/hr. Many of my coworkers work as close to full-time as they can get, and still qualify for food stamps. We aren't exactly Jason Wu's "target" audience :rotfl2: So I think you're safe...

In regards to the Coach handbags, I play a game when I go into the outlet store. I take the 10% coupon handed to me, then proceed to look for an item from a mall/retail store. These "first qualitly/overstock" items are very hard to find. I get a good laugh out of the sky high prices, people lining up to buy the bags and the obvious poor quality. I know it's mean.

Me too! Get out of my brain!

Awww. I always feel bad for you guys when stuff like this comes out. People just act like jerks. And then blame it on the employees.

I don't get it. My SIL stood in line for this stuff, but those are some of the ugliest frocks I've ever seen. Maybe it's just me because I thought the Missoni line was hideous as well.

Some of them are cute. The flared dress was a purchase I am looking forward too. But some of the shirt dresses are pretty ugly... I agree. It all depends.

hahahahhahhaha! that's pretty funny.
