Jar gift recipes

Ok folks, here is the situation....

I have a gadzillion unused canning jars taking up space in my basement. I thought I might make some of them into those gifts that have the ingredients for various things in them like cookies, soup, etc. That way I'd have a stash of quick gifts to use over the year for friends' birthdays, etc. Does anyone have a link to recipes like this? If not I saw an ad in one of the Sunday paper flyers for a set of 3 books of recipes (cookies, browinies, bars; muffins, breads, scones; and soups, chilis & more) for $9.95 that I might order.
