We're thinking of booking a DVC week for next January due to the fact that we could do so without using a boatload of points. Any advice for us as far as planning? We're used to being at WDW during F&W or F&G so have learned the importance of RD and ADRs, as well as how to navigate FP+. We're hoping that by going in January things would be less crazy. Any events we should be aware of? Anyone who loves going at that time?

Thanks in advance.

I've gone in January several times, including this year. There are a couple things I wasn't used to-it gets dark very early (although if you've been in December, you've experienced that). Also, days and especially evenings can get really chilly. Otherwise, it was a really nice trip. January is one of my favorite times, but for some reason-maybe it's the cooler weather, early closings, earlier darkness, I find it to be more restful for me (not a bad thing) as I stay around the resort more.

Until after MLK weekend and marathons are completed, you would be going during the very high DVC usage time of year. The last two weeks of the month are the busy DVC time of the year.

January is a great time to go, and I do agree that you should wait till after MLK day. We normally can walk onto all the rides that we want.

:thanks:Thanks for the reminder about MLK Day. That's exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. I'll check the various marathon/run schedules as well.
Simba's Mom, thanks for the reminder about the early darkness and chilly temps. We've experienced 35 degrees a couple times when we've been there in February. One good thing about driving, we can easily take our winter coats!
I'm hoping for lower crowds and a more relaxed trip to escape the gray days of a Midwest winter.
