I know it's pot luck but is it always really cold in January. I am thinking of going next January 5-12 since I have extra points.......

We have done 10 January trips. One was horribly cold every day. One was very warm (swimming weather) every day. The other 8 trips were a mixed bag of some cold/some warm days.

You are so right. Pot luck is what the weather can be in January in Florida. We could have rain, sunshine, warm weather, cold weather, fog, sunshine, frost, snow (yep, we had some this year), clouds or lots of sunshine. I like the sunshine days. I hope that you will have a sunny visit. :cool1:

this year Jan 8-15..it was COLD:confused: really cold..like gloves, hats etc.
Our last day was close to 70 and was really nice..we still had a fabulous time..no swimming of course.

Last year Jan 5-12..beautiful 70's every day til the day we left and it was 50.

We decided no more Jan trips for a while..we are gonna do the end of Nov this year.

You know that is marathon weekend, right??

We were just there this year the 14th-23rd. We had a fabulous week. It was shorts and tee's all week. We even were swimming a few days. As PP stated, it was really cold prior to our arrival. There is no predicition with January, so good luck. Have fun planning.

We just got back on Saturday. We were there from 1/22-1/30 and had really good weather it was in the mid 70's most of the week and one day it hit low 80's. We couldn't have asked for better weather.

We just got back from our 4th January/early Feb trip. This is the third one where we have had very warm and very cold weather in the same trip.
Saturday was in the upper 70s. Everyone was in shorts, t-shirts and sandals. On Sunday, temps were in the upper 40s during the day and the wind was brutal. We had both sweatshirts and winter coats on.
We are from NH and the cold in Florida is much worse. It's a wet cold and it goes right to your bones.
But, all that aside, I love going in the winter as long as the whole week isn't going to be that cold. There were no lines, no crowds and the restaurants were empty. Even the airports on both ends were ghost towns! You just need to pack clothes for three seasons. You will need them!

Last year we went end of Nov - early Dec and this year we were there Jan 10 - Jan 15. Both times we have had a variety of weather. I just pack for everything. This year we had temps from 32 to 70.

I pack long sleeved tshirts, turtlenecks, short sleeved tshirts, a hoodie, a windbreaker with a hood for rain, jeans, one pair of capris, gloves and a scarf. I layer my tshirts and have the hoodie on in the morning. I can tie the hoodie around my waist if it warms up. If it gets even warmer I can always duck in the bathroom and take the long sleeved tshirt off, leaving just a short sleeved tshirt. This past year I think I only had one day that I didn't wear my hoodie all day. I never needed the capris this year either.

Jan 10th was the last day of the marathon weekend. We did see people around wearing medals when we were at Epcot but didn't think it was crowded. We didn't get to Epcot until just after 4 pm that day.
