 Please forgive me--I'm new at this. I thought that you used to be able to look somewhere on this site to find out what the weather is like all different times of the year, but I can't seem to find it. January is approaching quickly and we are going to visit Mickey. However, we have only been in April and September and have NO idea what January weather is like. We live in the Midwest, so we're used to coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and long underwear in January!!! Any info you could give me would be helpful. ::MickeyMo

i went in january three years ago and the first three days had to wear hat and mitts next four days we were swimming in the pool.

At www.allearsnet.com you can find out what the weather has been like for about the last 20 years. Go to the web site, click on Planning, then weather. And a big WELCOME to the DIS!! :teeth:

January can be very unpredictable.....warm one day and cold the next...we have gone to a water park and loved it but then needed to unpack the gloves in a day or two....bring a little of warm to cold weather clothing...but the crowds are low and it's always been sunny for us so have a great time

Lots of layers! That is the key... you can add to and peel off as needed. Start with a short-sleeved cotton t-shirt or jersey, add a fleece sweatshirt or long-sleeved cotton shirt and a light jacket/raincoat/windbreaker over that. Throw some gloves or mittens and a cap in your pocket or backpack and you will be ready for (almost) anything FL in January can toss at you. (Or so I have found). I personally avoid fleece vests, as they don't have sleeves that you can tie around your waist if you want to take them off. Try finding those "convertible" pants for the kids at Old Navy (with the zip-off bottoms). Check the 10 day forecast through the weather channel website right before you close your suitcase and add or subtract as necessary. I believe the average high in January is 71 and the average low is 49 (according to Birnbaum's). Hope this helps.....See you there in January!

I love these posts, because they remind me that my trip is coming up quick! I've never been in Jan (not true- I did go when I was six and we're wearing spring jackets in the pics) either, so I don't know what to expect. But since it's so changeable, I guess no one knows! It just has to be better than the heat and humidity of last May.... right?

I am SO nervous about the weather on our trip (Jan 17-25).... but, I 'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

We will be there the same week:wave2: I'll be hoping for the best along with you! (But remember, if the weather stinks, at least the crowds in the parks will be smaller!!:hyper: )

As others have mentioned, the temps can vary - but it doesn't rain! We've had beautiful weather in the past, and are hoping for the same this Jan!

about the rain. When we were there in Jan 2002 we had an entire day of rain. It went back and forth from a light mist to heavy rain all day. We wore our ponchos and just tried to ignore the weather. But it certainly kept the lines at the MK down to a minimum!! :sunny:

DH and I are going back Jan 26-30 and I was also wondering about the weather. I was going to bring all capris for myself and shorts and pants for hubby.. We well also bring our spring jackets, we will prob just wear them to the airport seeing as it will be freezing here. I will check the weather before we leave though.

LOL! pjlla! One day of rain in Florida is a good thing! I think we actually had one rainy day as well - but I meant that it isn't like the spring and summer when you have those afternoon showers practically every day!

I don't mind being chilly - but wet I hate! I just don't look happenin' in a poncho!

We have been in January twice before, and will be returning again this year. We were also there in October this year and much prefer the January weather - October was just way too hot for us. Our standard January dress (we go in early January) is jeans, t-shirt for DH and sweatshirt for me, and a light jacket and knit gloves in the morning. In the afternoon we either tie the jackets around our waists or store them in a locker. I usually pack one pair of wishful thinking shorts or capris, but have yet to wear them :)

Maybe it was a fluke in the weather, or maybe because we are from New England and even 65 feels warm in January, but my family of 4 wore shorts and t-shirts 5 out of 6 days in January, including the day it rained all day (warm, tropical feeling rain). But I will say that we were back to the hotel room by 8pm almost every night.... maybe it got cool later. We did start the day with sweatshirts a few times, but they were shed before lunch mostly...:D

Like the others have stated, the weather in January can be unpredictable. It's best to be prepared for warmth and freezing cold. When I've been there the past two years, there has been a heavy frost. Last year, one morning the windchill was 18. I'm from upstate NY, and I can honestly tell you I've had to wear my winter coat with the hood up and my gloves many times. The cold in Fla is not like that at home--it's very, very damp, and with any wind, it's just plain old cold.

On the other hand, it can be very pleasant, in the 70's or 80's. I always end up packing more clothes than I'd like to for a trip in the winter, but usually I'm glad to have them with me.

It is the best time of year to go, though! :earsgirl:
