January Vacation

I am a relatively new member. Our Saratoga Springs are FEB. We are trying to plan a January 2012 vacation at the BWV. Is there anyway to borrow or rent points to make a reservation at the 11 month window and then trade back when our 7 month winndow arrives? We are concerned by June the BWV will be booked. Any ideas?

Any reservation that is booked during the home resort booking period at BWV would not be eligible for booking with SSR points unless there was still availability so it would not work to get BWV points from someone and then try to "swap" them out--it would defeat the purpose of home resort.

My suggestion is to just book your home resort at 11 months and then at 7 months, call and see what is available. While getting BW view or SV might be difficult, you should be able to get a garden/pool view.

And, if not, wait list and hopefully things will come through.

No different than every other DVC member that is trying to book @ 7 months outside their home resort. It's luck of the draw. Make your home resort reservation when you can, and call on the first day you can to book @ 7 months.

Your use year, by the way, has nothing to do with when you can book or needing to borrow to make a reservation. As long as you have points available in the same use year that your vacation falls into, you can book that. It sounds a bit like you might be confusing the use year with the home resort / non-home resort booking windows, but I wasn't sure from your post.

As the PPs said, you will not be able to use this "work around" to book BWV. However, there are a few things to consider. The only people who will be able to book BWV before June will be those who own at that resort. Everyone else will be in the same boat you are. Also, depending when in January you are going, I don't think it will be impossible for you to get BWV at 7 months.

We own at BWV and AKV. We booked a 1 bedroom, standard view at BW for February at 7 months. We weren't even using our BWV points. So, it is definitely possible. As the PP said, just book your home resort at 11 months, and you can try to get BWV when the 7 month window opens. And if not right away, try to wait list. Good luck to you! BWV is my absolute favorite!
