All of you that have sailed in January out of Miami, how was the weather? We are sailing Jan 7th and I was just curious what the likelihood of it being rainy and cloudy the majority of the time we are out to sea. We are doing the western carribean.

We have sailed out of Florida twice in January. The most current was just this past January. We had terrible weather this past January but the previous January it was gorgeous. It's really hit or miss. I don't think in January you can count on nice weather.

We just did the western in January. Cozumel was great, we had to miss GC due to winds, and Jamaica was very cloudy. Days at sea were also windy. It wasn't ideal for sure, but it was not terrible.

We've sailed out of Florida two times in January and the weather was fine, maybe a little breezy but very, very sunny. Also this January (two months ago) we actually had a land-based vacation in Miami. The weather was awesome, high 70s but again pretty breezy. We swam on the pool deck the day of embarkation so it was not too bad. You may need a light jacket or sweater for the sail away party, but I don't think we did.

I am from Ft Lauderdale and we sailed this past January ( and several Jan/Feb in the past).
We have been lucky on all of them regarding rain, a few times its be cooler than others. But we always enjoy those cooler temps. since we rarely get them here. On our last cruise CC was so nice, in the low 70's and sunny as can be, the water was a bit cold for me but my husband and grandkids enjoyed it. The grandkids were in that water the entire day.

We've sailed twice in January and had perfect weather the first year and bad weather the second year (it rained in Cozumel cancelling our excursion and we missed CC because the winds were too strong to dock). Bottom line is I think it can go either way. No guarantees with the weather any time of year!!

We sailed 12/31/15 - 1/3/16 out of Miami and the weather was balmy and clear every minute of our cruise. Castaway Cay was a dream.

Our Miami experiences are warmer than our port canaveral ones. We usually get a day of rain in Miami but we are there for a few before we cruise. Hope this helps.

I'll chime in and agree with the general tenor here...we've had wonderfully warm weather in January, and weather so cool that Castaway Cay seemed deserted because it just wasn't warm there. I guess that's why fares are lower in January!

We have done 3 cruises in January the past 3 years and have had beautiful weather for the most time all 3 trips. One was a 7 day cruise and its kind of expected to have a day that just wasn't ideal. But Ideal weather can be hit or miss during any month. We have another January Cruise coming up again this January.

We sailed 1/25/17 out of Miami. We made it to Castaway. The cruise before us missed Castaway. We had beautiful weather.

Definitely hit or miss but you can usually have warmer weather on a Caribbean cruise than the Bahamas cruises in January. We sailed to the Bahamas this January and it was warm but not hot at all. Some days of rain at sea. We left out of Galveston and it was downright cold.

Yeah, I wouldn't sail out of Galveston in January again. The sail away party was freezing, the first at sea day crossing the Gulf was too cold, too windy and it was the first time in my life I got seasick. Then we got fogged in trying to get back to port, we were stuck in the netherworld of international waters with oil tankers and other ships, could hear them but not see them, for hours, missed our flight. What a bad ending to a great trip

We found our Western Caribbean cruise to be too cold, windy and overcast for the entire 7 days this past January. The ocean water was too cold, seas were very rough, and excursions were cancelled.

This may have been a freak occurrence as it was our first time cruising in January, but we will never book that time of year again.

We were on the January 6th cruise and had our sail away indoors and were also fogged in the day we got back. We did not dock until about 2:30 or 3:00 pm and we finally got in our shuttle to the airport at 4:10 for a 6:00 flight. We made it to the gate just as we were boarding and we thought we would have tons of time at the airport!!!

Crazy, bc our cruise was Jan 5, 2013, so same *exact* time frame! Jan 12 I think was the date we were fogged in. Thank goodness we have great trip insurance bc we not only missed our flight but were obligated somehow to pay our shuttle to the airport, that was a pain, get a hotel room last minute and terrible connecting flights the next day. What an ordeal. Glad you made it!
