Looks like we'll be on the West Coast for most of January...so its disney time again! Would love some guidance on when the Christmas rush ends, when the decorations come down, and just your best guess on weather (we'll be further north most of the time so it will probably be better than that!)

Christmas rush slows after New Years Day and really slows on the Monday after New Years Day. This is when decorations come down. Haunted Mansion usually closes for about two weeks starting on this Monday to remove the holiday overlay. After Haunted Mansion is re-opened then IASW is usually closed for two weeks to remove its holiday overlay.

Best predictor of future weather is past weather. This link shows month-by-month weather data for Anaheim, California: "Detailed Weather History for DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23004158.

Have a great trip. :)

Hydroguy is right. It slows down after New Years. The Christmas decorations come down after the first weekend after New Years. This year, the last weekend was my birthday weekend the 6th =) There weren't a lot of people there but a good amount.

Great weather data! :thumbsup2

We are going for one day on Jan. 2. The end of December is blacked out for us. Jan 5th is the Monday after NYs this year. The Disney website says the holidays run through the 4th.

We plan to find some rain ponchos to bring just in case.

ive gone the last 2 years in jan...this past jan. I went on the 5-9th and the following year it was a couple days later...both times the decorations were still up and the parade was still going on...I remember this year in particular because the weather was really warm and here I am in DL with decorations and hearing christmas music being piped in and thinking this was seriously weird...

Pinkbudgie Im not sure if hydroguy and disneylove realized you were talking about the day after NY but it is going to be seriously crowded that whole week...Jan 2nd is on a friday so no one will be back at school from the holidays...so you might just want to go along with the crowded day suggestions for fast passes and expect the worse, hope for the best

Well, I really had no idea how crowded it would be compaired to summer. But either way, this will be a "take it easy" trip. :rotfl: My main goals are to see the HM and ISAW all decorated. DH and I will be back in June for a week for our anniversary so I won't feel like I have to rush around. The only time I've been during Christmas season was before they changed the HM.

I wasn't there and you obviously were. The schedule for last January shows the parade ending on Jan 6 with regular entertainment (RDCT fireworks) starting up the subsequent Friday Jan 12. :confused3

We were replying to the OP who was asking about January in general - not to Pink who subsequently asked about Jan 2. :)

i dont know...i go quite a bit because Im only a few hours away and my aunt lives about 45 min. away...maybe that was the info they originally got but disney changed it :confused3 who knows

That's ok. I jumped right in because it was of interest to me too. Good thinking about the crowd levels because it is a Friday. Guess I'll just have to go and find out. ;) I'm up in Wine Country. :)
