First of all----------what's the best week.......least crowded? i am very flexible with the dates but would like to go on a sat. -wed.

Second--we will close in late aug. on our resale and was wondering how hard it will be to get a reservation for january. we would like AKV or BC.........and prefer a 2br unit.

In January you should be able to get a 2 BRV as this is not a high demand time. You may not get your preference of resorts (being already within 7 months) but then again, maybe you will.

The only documented events in January at WDW are Disney's Marathon Weekend - January 8-11 and MLK Weekend - January 16-19.

I don't know about AKV or BWV/BCV, but you should be able to get a 2br villa somewhere. We closed in September (the day before labor day) 2 years ago (while in WDW), and the day after I came home from WDW (day after labor day)-- I was able to get a 2br at SSR for marathon weekend (one of the busier times in January). Then in November, my husband was injured, so he couldn't run the marathon, and I called and switched our reservation (still 2br for 8 nights) to the third week of January at OKW (I thought it might make him sad to see all of the marathon events and not be able to participate--- he had been training for 11 months). I'm thinking you won't have a problem. That being said, the only resorts available were OKW or SSR, but we didn't care. While I was closing, my guide said he would have gotten MS on the phone for me right then and there to make my reservation, but it was a Sunday, and at that time MS were closed on Sundays. The next day was a holiday--- that's why I had to wait until Tuesday (the day I arrived home)

I would suggest avoiding the 1st week of January, marathon weekend (although the parks don't get too crowded, just a traffic issue Sat/Sun mornings, and resort capacity issue), and MLK weekend.

January is our favorite time to go!!! We've gone every year in January except 2008.

I would do the last week. That is after the Marathon and also after MLK day. In fact, I AM doing the last week of January. Actually, I'm doing the 20-31. I had my choice of 2 bedrooms at AKV savanna view a couple weeks ago. There seemed to be plenty available, but nothing in concierge.

Thanks yall.

I was thinking maybe the 24th-28th.............I would love AKV concierge but I know that will all be gone. Maybe we could get a SV. I'm a little worried about the construction and the savannah that won't have animals at that time so maybe we should try for a different resort.

I just booked a 2 bdrm at VWL starting Jan 24th for 5 nights.

Good luck with your reservations :thumbsup2

Thanks yall.

Just put in a request for Arusha Savannah or Zebra Trail. That's what we did. When we checked in, I brought it up again, and our CM said that they're really trying hard not to put anyone in Sunset Savannah who paid for Savannah view. We had a great view in Zebra Trail.

I booked a one bedroom at BWV for a long weekend getaway with my DH with our developer points!! I'm so excited and can't wait to go. We are going 1/23-27 - so we'll see you there.

I'm going the 25th-29th also for the reasons listed above--missing marathon weekend and MLK weekend ;). Hopefully it won't be too crowded and the weather will be nice :thumbsup2

We'll be at AKL from Jan 27 - Feb 4 and then over to BCV from Feb 4 - Feb 11. We also chose those dates because of low crowds. :)

Now yall quit reserving all the rooms for Jan. so there will be something left after I close in August....;)

Thanks yall.

It's not a given that there wont be animals on the Sunset savanna. The animal curator said they will try to limit that time to the absolute minimum, and will likely happen closer to the time when Kidani is ready to open. It doesn't open until May, so I'm thinking January should be okay.

Last week I booked a 1Br at BCV for MLK weekend. We had our choice of properties for a 1 Br. We have another couple considering going with us and they should know something by next week, so I may be calling to change to a 2 Br somewhere.
