The course was published on the USA T&F website this afternoon. The following is a mapmyrun version from the course certification sheet.

Now is the time to prepare for the overpasses (hills) rather than being suprized in January. Once the course hits Epcot Dr it makes a 180 u-turn and heads up a series of two overpasses. The course is narrow at one lane wide through this stretch. Once past the hills, the course is pancake flat to the backstage road exit where is climbs the overpass hill onto the road. A short jaunt backstage and we enter the World Showcase between Norway and China. The course goes clockwise and exits through the International Gate into the resort area. Remember the draw bridge at China and the two hills between France and Great Britain. The course circumnavigates Lake Crescent going from Boardwalk then past Yacht then Beach. The course follows the marathon course into the cast member entrance and then back on stage at Great Britain. Once in the park the course deadheads up to Spaceship Earth and exits behind the kennel and then finishes at the marathon finish line.

The hils are short and not very steep. Plan on doing a few short hill intervals as part of your training program and you should be fine

Times like this, I feel lucky to be training in Pittsburgh. The hills I run on a normal day are much worse than overpasses and slight up and down hills through the park, so my normal runs, plus hill repeats should be great training for me.

Interesting....I wonder if they'll keep this course for Princess?

Based on the Enchanted 10K description, I'd think they keep it the same

You can say that again!!! :) the last half mile back to my house is straight uphill! I have to hit the lap button on my garmin or it completely throws off my pace! Lol

Oh, and I agree I think this will be the princess weekend enchanted 10k course too. Seems like they would more likely want to set up the race retreat only once for a two day event.

I rode my bike through the area last night and thought "I wonder if folks would like a photo or two?"

To CEWAIT - I will be at BWV this September.....is it possible to run part (most) of this route? You said you rode your bike, so I'm wondering if it okay to run???? I was assuming "cast member areas" were off limits, so maybe your are a cast member?

And FYI - I think we would LOVE pictures! :thumbsup2

Not a CM, YET.

:rotfl2:

First, I do not encourage folks to run on Epcot Dr for safety reasons. It did not take my DW very long to say "Danged Tourists" as we followed a car weaving and then crossing 3 lanes of traffic to make a turn. (I did point out that we were technically tourists since we were not in our house yet.)

Saying that, I do see runners on World and Epcot and I (as well as many others) will loop through property on my bike. I also see Security stopping runners on occasion, though there is no law against running on a highway. If one were really serious about trying to run some of the course (the public part), there are ways to make that happen. I am just not sure that you will see much of the course. You have easy access to the Crescent Lake (Epcot Resorts) Loop. You can run all the way up to the gates from the resorts; as well as the gates of DHS. You could run the Epcot Dr section during the post dawn hours and not have lots of traffic exiting the Epcot parking lot. I just feel like it would be a little disjointed. It is right at 5 miles to loop Epcot (Buena Vista Dr, Epcot Dr and World Dr) and 3 of those miles are not course related. Obviously, one cannot run the backstage nor in the park sections of the course and I would also not attempt to tackle the parking lot mile either. Note that these roads are not shouldered and have a speed limit of 50 mph, that means a lot of running just off the road edge.

It is an interesting thought….

Thank you for all the information. I will stick to the crescent loop and do that a few times!! :)

I've been trying to clarify: does anyone know if there is a minimum pace requirement for the Minnie? It seems from the fact we get the chrono trackers etc it's clearly timed, but I didn't see a minimum pace listed. I'm a walker (will NEVER be a runner) and I'm making a 15mpm pace now for the distance so I'll make pace, I'd just like to know if anyone knows if there is a minimum pace :thumbsup2

I am sure it will be 16:00 minute miles. RunDisney is really terrible about updating website info and I think they just copied and pasted from last year's info. I think that is why the 10k is not listed in the pacing info. All of the other Disney events with a 10k show 16:00 minutes.

Most definitely a 16 minute pace. For anyone who is struggling with pace it would be critical to maintain the 16 min pace through the first 3.25 miles. That is the point where the course clears non-park roadways. Would also have some minor concern about making mile 4.5 (I Gate - outbound). The latter is not as high since it is a non-roadway point but I would expect that the resort management folks would have asked the race to clear the Crescent Lake area out by 0700 so guests are not encumbered on their way to breakfast.

It's backwards! (compared to the marathon :) ). Thanks for posting. I hope its still dark out in Epcot, i miss that part of the marathon

I think for many runners, Epcot will be dark and surreal once again.... It really depends on waves and their separation.

I really miss the old courses where we ran through Epcot in the dark. The old courses also meant that I ran through Cinderella Castle with just enough light to have a good photo op…. Now it’s dark and underexposed.
