We're going back to WDW 1/10 - 16, and this time I'm treating my parents for my 40th birthday. (If they can put up with me for 40 years, they get to go to Disney World!). Anyway, we're summer pros, they've never been, and we've never been in January.

How crowded would the Thursday night Spectromagic be, compared to a regular (non-EMH) summer evening? I know it's an EMH day, but it's January. If we showed up mid-afternoon, could we see several of the higher-capacity or less-popular attractions and then enjoy Spectro and Wishes? Tuesday will have been our MK day, so most of the popular stuff would already be out of the way.

It's the only night they can see Spectro, and I want them to have a really good time. Thanks for the advice.

We've been in January a few times. The day they play Spectro is always a little busier at MK, but very doable. You'll probably be able to get a good spot about a half hour prior to the parade. I'd try for some place by the enterance to MK, as that is where the parade starts and you can scoot out right after it goes by.

We will definately be there for thur 13th Jan spectro. It is my DS 1st birthday so MK was a must and it is a bonus that Spectro is on, we can't wait! I have been in Jan before and we found that every park on any day is very manageable and most rides are a walk-on. Yes, the crowds do magically appear come parade/ firework time but you should still get a really good view and be able to do all you want to do. Have fun and maybe we'll see you there,

Thanks for the information, Harambe and Fiz - I'm really looking forward to a week at Disney with cool weather and few crowds! I"m a little bummed by the shorter hours, but I suppose I should see it as more opportunity to sleep, enjoy the AKL, and be refreshed for the next day. :-)

HI DIS friends, :bounce:

We too will be arriving on Thursday, January 13 in the morning and plan on doing MK on our first day.

Tell me please, what time does Spectromagic parade start??

I've already made a PS for Ohana's at 6:30 to view the wishes.

Thanks and hope to see you there and wear your Lime Green ribbons!!

It looks like a lot of us will be watching the parade on Jan 13th! You might want to re-work your timing a little if you want to see the parade. Spectro will be at 7 PM and Wishes at 8 that night, according to the hours posted at Disney. However, if you want to skip the parade and watch Wishes from the beach at the Polynesian, then a 6:30 dinner should work well.

Have fun!
Dirk
