January Deluxe Resorts

Do you think the deluxe resorts will sell out for Jan. 2009? We are looking to make a reservation, but I am not sure of the dates we can go yet. Do you think I still have a month or two to book? I am interested in CR, Poly or AKL.

2009 pricing isn't going to be up until August I believe.

I booked a "room only" reservation over the phone for Jan 2009 at the AKL this week. My first choices were the CR and Poly. The CM I talked to said she did not have any CR or Poly rooms available that were not concierge. She did have the GF. Maybe you will have better luck? I asked if the rooms were actually booked or just not released for reservations, and she told me that she thought they were booked. The packages are not out for 2009, but you can secure the room with a room only reservation and change to the package when the rates come out. Our dates are Jan. 13-18. The marathon is the 9-11, and MLK weekend starts the 16th, so that may have something to do with availability?

I can't speak for CR or Poly but in late December 2007 I was able to modify a bounceback (room only) reservation to stay at the AKL for January 2008. Our stay started on MLK Day so I dare say the AKL will not sell out for January unless something strange happens.

I think it depends on when you go in January. I booked a room on Friday and arrived on Sunday the last week in January of this year. The resort was not crowded and the parks were like ghost towns...well almost!

No matter where you stay if you make the reservation very soon and the rates are not out yet, you will get the rates as they are now and eventually the rate will change for your reservation once they are announced for 2009. As for the Resorts you selected the only one that might sell out now is the Contemporary because of the conventions they host. So that is another factor besides the ones SamanthaH mentioned, which could effect the Contemporary and all the other Resorts.
