So the Disney marathon, in January, was sold out but I managed to a get a spot when it reopened for a moment last week. Now I am faced with the issue of a room for my stay.

There is nothing below $450 a night no matter how I change my dates up for the weekend of the Jan 9th, and the days before and after. Obviously I can stay offsite if necessary but that opens a whole new set of logistical problems with getting to the marathon start around 4am.

I've never found myself in this situation before, does anyone have any idea if things will open up again. I know people cancel so hopefully they will! Thanks!

Obviously different time of year and lots of different factors involved, but maybe just for some encouragement. For months I had been trying to change a family member's reservation over Wine & Dine Half weekend.... with consistently ZERO options at any price point. A couple of weeks ago all of a sudden many options opened and it has generally stayed that way (I keep checking because we want to move resorts). Most of the options are above your budget, but CBR is $324 and CSR $456 (all pre-tax)... so those could work.

So as PP suggests... just check every day or two when you have a chance. People are tinkering with plans now more than ever these days and gosh knows what Disney is up to with their inventory.

Having always been scared of the logistical problems with coming from offsite myself... I wish you good luck and hope you find something!

Hotwire gave me Swan for 371 for Jan 7-11. Not great - but slightly better, if that helps

I doubt it -- I'm going Marathon weekend (but not running) and booked my stay earlier this month. I chatted with a Cast Member online because I really wanted to stay at Port Orleans French Quarter but booked Riverside just to ensure I had a hotel room. I asked the CM if they thought rooms would open up closer to the date and she said it looked like it was a heavy weekend.

I would book yourself offsite where you're comfortable staying (and make sure it's refundable, just in case something at Disney opens up -- but I wouldn't count on it).

I keep checking myself to see if FQ will open up and once for a couple hours I saw Art of Animation pop up, so there's a possibility!

Thank you so much everyone! I will keep checking and hoping for the best! Worst case scenario I will have to face the additional adventure of getting to the marathon from offsite! Or perhaps sleep in the Epcot parking lot :)

Now I know why reservations are so slim! We have a quick one night booked for January 6th and am thrilled to have been able to book a room at POFQ just a week ago.

Lucky! I chatted with the CM because I didn't realize what a big weekend Marathon weekend was and the very limited vacancies seemed strange. Wasn't sure if they were holding back rooms until closer to the date because of Covid, etc.

Nope, just busy.

I struggled finding a reservation also for that week. I am coming in Tuesday of that week and my family on Friday afternoon. Staying until Monday. We were trying to stay at one of the AS resorts but could never find anything available. After weeks of trying, I finally gave up hope on that and decided we were going to have to spend more than what we wanted to. We ended up booking a split stay. Booked the Holiday Inn Disney Springs for Tuesday through Friday for when I am there solo and doing the 5k and 10k. Then I was lucky enough to book Port Orleans Riverside for Friday through Monday when the family arrives and for the half and full marathon days.

My buddy is doing the half marathon and he and his family have not booked any hotel yet. He texted me over the weekend saying he can't find any WDW hotels with availability. So he is now scrambling trying to figure out what to do.
