My wife and I are planning to take a 7 day Western Caribean cruise the last of January and first of February. Anyone out there that can advise if the water at CC and Grand Cayman warm enough to swing in that time of year? Thanks

Hi. I first cruised with DCL on 1/11/04 and the water at CC and at Blue Lagoon Beach in Nassau, was perfect!

But, New Yorkers are pretty easy to please in the winter on a tropical island! hehe

We've done a total of 6 cruises in Jan/Feb. We had one that was too cool to swim, the others were wonderful. Bottom line, you can get a cold snap, but it usually doesn't happen.

We sail in February of every year, and usually January too. Out of all our cruises, it was only a bit iffy for swimming once in that season. In January, the cold fronts also increase your chance of not being able to dock at CC. We've never had that happen, but we did have to skip Grand Cayman on a Jan. Western once because the water was too choppy to dock.

We were in GC last jan 04 on an RC cruise. We tendered fine, rented a car, and drove around the east side, went to Rum Point (wonderful secluded beach) and took a snorkel trip out to Stingray City. The water was perfect! No problems. Our cruise left 1/24/04 so it was late jan. When we got back, I did hear that the waters around GC got rough and for like 3 weeks after we were there, RC was not able to tender due to rough waters.

We went in January and loved it. As Dreamer said being from the Northeast we're not hard to please. It was cool leaving Port Canaveral, I say cool as in 50's. I was in shorts and short sleeve shirt (it was 12 below when we left home). 80's and high 70's the remainder of the week. Water was beautiful in each port and we swam at each one and on the ship each day. So January was fine for us. You will love it.
