January 8, 2006- 4 night Wonder- Anybody else coming with?

Vicki - I don't know if its the same with cats, but we have 2 dogs who ran our house and lives prior to the kids. With each kid, the dogs slip a peg or two down the ladder of importance. Its actually really sad, but they are pretty neglected these days. But the upside is that they are so old, they love being left alone to sleep! I haven't even thought about what we were going to do with them when we are gone until now. I hope my folks will take care of them as well. Guess I should ask!

Y'alls cats sound like mine. I've got the one beached whale who could care less about me unless her food bowl is empty. Really, it's like a Pavlovian experiment here in reverse. I know if my cat comes up to me, purring and being cuddly, she must not have any food...so that triggers me to get up and feed her. She has me very well trained. The other one will follow you from room to room to room.

Although, you know...since we got the new bed, they don't leave it much. I'm like just a bad interruption to a good nap for them. Goes to show that even animals appreciate a good mattress :)

So, off topic, I am just sad sad saaaaaaaad. Even thought I have the Unofficial WDW Guide for 2004, my sorry self bought into the hype and ordered one for 2006. I'm only going to be in the parks for 2 days?! What is wrong with me?! I think it's b/c most of my stuff is done, I'm trying to delay the inevitable of having nothing left to plan. *Sigh* I'm going to suffer from some sort of post-partum planning depression when this trip is over. What will I do with my free time? (Don't say clean the house, or I'll have to smack someone...)

Hi everyone! My DH, four daughters (11, 9, 6 and 5) and I hope to meet you during the cruise! I have lurked long enough (compulsive planner, I admit it) and I want to join the fun of chatting with my cruise-mates.

My DH and I joined two other couples for a Wonder cruise in 2004, and had such a fantastic time that we had to share it with our kids. They are doubly excited since we will be going to WDW for four days after. (Good way to walk off all that cruise food!!)

I also made Palo brunch reservations. It sounds delicious since my DH and I love seafood. Does anyone know if the souffle comes with that? I've been craving it since our last cruise. YUM!

TXSleeping Beauty, you asked about the Nassau snorkel trips in an earlier post. We did the catamaran last time and loved it. Just don't overdo the rum punch they include afterwards-it goes down like kool aid!

Looking forward to chatting with and meeting everyone in 80 (yipee!) days! :cheer2:

 sapphire33, glad to welcome you and your family onboard with the rest of us.

:cheer2: :cheer2:

Welcome, sapphire 33...to you and your family! :wave2:

Wow...seems as though our group keeps getting bigger...that's awesome. I hope that I get to meet some of you, if not all, onboard! :grouphug:

Can't belive we only have 79 more days to go!! :bounce:

:wave2: Hi and welcome aboard to sapphire33 and her family. Yeah!!! another compulsive planner. You will fit right in !!

I can't keep track of how many DIS'ers we have right now. It's going to be a fun meet. Ok you planners .....any ideas where, when, and what time yet???

attagirlsx2...It's funny to hear about your dogs becoming less and less important. That is my husbands excuse for not letting me get one of those little tiny, fit in your purse kind of dogs. He would always respond with the comment of when baby comes along the dog will be very low on the totem pole. I knew he was probably right but it's funny to hear about your experience.

branv...I have a idea to help you with your "post partum planning depression", have another vacation in the works prior to the end of your present vacation. I've found have one or two trips in the planning stage really helps with the sadness when your current trip is over. And you still have a vacation to look forward to. :cheer2:

Post-partum planning depression :rotfl: ... I've got it too! I've done the research, I've read UG thoroughly, I've made the ressies, now I just need to go. But it's still months away!! What to do?! I'm with you, cleaning the house is definitely not a good replacement. That is why I am planning this vacation in the first place - so I don't have to clean for 10 wonderful Disney-filled days.

So is there anything new in the 2006 UG? I have the 2005 version, but I need something to keep me going! :goodvibes

Sorry, sapphire33 - no souffle at the brunch. They do have a number of desserts there, although I don't recall being impressed enough to eat much dessert after all the other brunch food!

Welcome sapphire33!

Thanks Cruisin for putting together a list of this bunch. I'm guessing you are a pretty organized person!

As far as the post partum trip depression, I agree its best to have multiple trips planned for the future. Currently I have this trip in January, a girls only cruise in Feb, a weekend crop in March, a beach wedding in March, and DL in Sept. My DH just rolls his eyes anytime I say that I have a "Great Idea for what we can do on __________" (just fill in the blanks with any date). I'm trying to get him to run a Hawaiian marathon or a few international marathons, like somewhere in Europe. Those are places I'd love to visit.

Hey, my unofficial DW guide is really old. Anything new in the 2006 version we should know? I was thinking I needed a few kid free hours at Barnes and Noble and skim through the latest version. Have to plan, have to plan, don't want to miss anything :rotfl: It is a sickness, I tell ya.

Cruisin....Thanks for putting the list together.

Now you guys have made me wanting to run to the bookstore for the 06 WDW guide. I guess there COULD be some changes since the 05 guide. :teeth:

I'm also really stoked that Unleash the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon is out on Jan 01. I keep telling myself that I'm going to wait to read it until I'm lying on a sunny beach soaking up the sun. Don't know if I'll be able to resist it though. :confused3
hey, me too, i keep telling myself that that will be my cruise book!! love  her books, I think it actually coms out the last week of december though. we should have a mini book review on the ship

Cruisin - I just notice you were staying at the Pop Century prior to the cruise. We are staying there Wed. and Thurs. night and then moving over to the Contemporary for Friday and Sat. Being at a monorail hotel will make getting to and from the marathons easier. At least that is what I am hoping for since its so expensive! And the Contemporary is within walking distance to many of the spots we can cheer for DH while he runs and we eat our Krispy Kreme donuts! Have you stayed at Pop Century before? I have just heard how big it is and it can be quite a walk to the main building. The past 2 times we've been we have stayed at the All Star Movies. They were fine for the amount of time we spent in the rooms and I would stay there again.

This will be our 4th visit to the POP Century.

The first time we were in the 70's bldgs and the last two times we were in the 90's.

We didn't find the walk to the main bldg to be too far. You soon learn the little shortcuts that get you there faster.

Especially with staying in the 90's you just have to cut through a parking lot and you can get to the main bldg and the bus stops really quickly.

Just make sure that you study the map that they give you when you check in carefully. Then you can figure out the quickest way to get to where you want.

ack!! disney's website is telling me that it's not 75 days out!! and won't let me book anything
