Just to recap -
Our Family - Steve (DH), Isabel (DD4) and Sharon (Myself)

This was the toughest morning for us. Because our dining rotation began with Animator’s Palate, our Character Breakfast time would be Sunday morning – and with Early Seating, that made it 8:15am. Now, I don’t know about you but I love to sleep in on that first day of vacation. So, I was already conveniently not mentioning this breakfast thing to Isabel (DD4). PLUS, we had to change our clocks ahead one hour because we’d be venturing into the Atlantic time zone. Eeeks! In addition to that, our DISmeet was scheduled for 9am. After Steve (DH) got up early and showered and got ready to go…then he gently woke me to tell me it was time to get ready for the breakfast. So much to do - so comfy the bed. We tried to wake Isabel to no avail. After much thoughtful deliberation – okay after about 3 minutes – I decided the best plan of attack would be to go back to bed. The ship was rocking me back into slumber and I had a mental picture of Isabel sticking her tongue out at Snow White because she would be so cranky. Now, I know sleep is for the weak but I couldn’t resist. I thought Steve would be upset since he got up so early but he crawled right back into the sack and was out before my head had a chance to hit the pillow.

We got up around 10:30am, just in time for me to go to the Salon to have my hair done. Isabel had a 12Noon appointment to get her hair braided. When I got done in the salon (it took quite a bit longer than I thought it was going to), I found Isabel swimming and sliding at the Mickey Pool. She had lovely braids on top, going back into a headband shape made of white and orange beads. Later, she told me it did hurt a little but she was very brave and it didn’t hurt at all once they finished. I’m not sure how long the braids last – she’s still wearing them!

Isabel wanted a hot dog so we grabbed that from Pluto’s and some cottage cheese, olives and soup from Topsider’s Buffet and she ate near the pool. We all went back to the room and Isabel got ready to go to the Oceaneers Club and we got dressed for High Tea at Palo, which was very nice but filling. That was one of the times that I wished we had Second Seating for dinner.

After Tea, Steve went to the room to relax and I headed to the Promenade Lounge for a game of Scattergories. There were a lot of people there watching football and they had chicken wings and other snacks available – which I, of course, needed since they never feed you on the ship. The game was fun and it was nice to sit and play and sip a strawberry daiquiri.

Isabel wanted to wear her Belle outfit – dress, tiara, shoes and wand – for formal dinner that evening. When we got to the table at Parrot Cay, we found that Alyssa (her new 4-year-old best friend that she met the day before) had the complete Aurora outfit! We were honored to eat at such a table of royalty. I had Grouper and it was delicious – Steve enjoyed the Mixed Grill. I’ve read on these boards that people don’t like to be in Parrot Cay for formal night but it didn’t bother us at all – we had a great time.

Isabel headed to the Oceaneers Club with Alyssa right after dinner and I went shopping. Steve explored the ship for a little while and we planned on meeting outside the Walt Disney Theatre just before “The Golden Mickeys”. Steve and Isabel were waiting for me by the time I got there and Isabel ran over to hug me. At the same time, Ensign Benson (one of the lead characters of “The Golden Mickeys”) came over and asked if Isabel would like to be on TV. Of course, Isabel wanted to do that so she got in line to be interviewed by Rona Rivers. And wouldn’t you know it? – we didn’t bring our camera or our video recorder. Luckily, our table mates were already in the theatre and Nicky got a great picture of Isabel and Rona! We made our way into the theatre and people recognized Isabel. It made her feel very special! Alyssa said to Isabel, “I saw you on TV!”. The show was fabulous and our Princess Belle crashed on Daddy’s shoulder on the way back to the room.

For some reason, I had a burst of energy and decided to go see “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” which was playing in the Buena Vista Theatre. I really enjoyed the movie (I love art films) but I suddenly hit a wall (I think it was a combination of activities and the rocking of the ship) so I left the theatre. I walked around the ship a little, ended up sitting at a window next to the Promenade Lounge and just staring out for a while, thinking about how lucky I was to be on such a great vacation. I headed to the Midship elevators and grabbed a piece of pizza on the way to the room. I fell into bed and let the strong rocking of the ship comfort me into a great night’s rest.

Just a note from experience about the braids.....

Don't leave them in over 2-3 weeks. We left DD's in for about 6 weeks...took her to the salon for a cut....the girl took the braids out...and freaked out...handfuls of DD's hair came out in her hands. We told her how long they
had been in ...and this salon girl almost had a heart attack!!!! She said NEVER leave them in over 3 weeks. So, this time we took them out at the 3 week mark...and her hair still came out....not as much...but some.

So, that was our experience with leaving the braids in......

Hi there! We saw a Belle on formal night, maybe she was yours? Very sweet. I'm really enjoying your trip reports, it feels like I can re-live the week. LOL.

great reports! I'm lucky I remember what Vanessa ate each night (roll) Alyssa was so excited that you mentioned her.

natsmom125 - Thanks for the tip about the braids. I took them out last night and since Isabel hasn't had a hair cut yet, her haid is pretty long. I didn't have to much trouble and I did it without wetting them down. But I'm glad I didn't leave them much longer.

Skywalker - I hope your cruise was enjoyable! It might have been our Belle that you saw - I did see another little girl in a Belle outfit every night. So many princesses on our cruise!

Lori - Isabel is still talking about the cruise and her friend, Alyssa! It was so nice meeting your family.
