January 24-28, 2010 -- Wonder

We will be at AKL the night before as well (well 2 nights before and at AKV-Kidani) but we decided to do our breakfast on cruise morning at Boma. I loved Boma breakfast and it's so convenient since we're staying there. Then off to the port! :goodvibes

(we are also coming from BWI but on Friday morning not Saturday on those $59 flights, sadly had to pay $89 for the return trip - must have been a few minutes too slow on the DING!).

Hi Vicki C,

Are you going to the port early? How are you getting there? We are thinking tiffanytowncar maybe with a 9:00 am pickup just incase we want to change our room. We are back-to-back so I was going to try to get the same cabin for both cruises.

We are renting a car for our trip and leaving it at the Port - we will be at Disney from 1/22-1/24 and then back from 1/28-1/31. We like to have a car.

We are having breakfast at Boma at 8:30, so I don't expect we will get to the Port until 11:00 or 11:30, I guess, depending on how long breakfast takes.

We had considered just staying at one of the PC hotels, but in the end we couldn't pass up a few more days at WDW!

Really? I have had my package for weeks, maybe it depends on when you booked or how you booked or something?

Sure, Vicki, rub it in! :lmao:

It's because you're part of a group booking and those docs go out first.

I booked a suite 1 week after sales opened for the date direct with Disney TA line and I still do NOT have my docs. < wahhh > While I'm part of the group, the suite can't be booked "with" the group - it can only be attached later. (same with people who booked the kids cruise free sale)

I booked directly thru Disney.

Do you have your actual documents, the ones with the luggage tags in it?

There was another package that came out earlier with information in it.

Honesty - I'd have to go look! I remember others like Robin with suites saying they didn't have their stuff yet (sadly, I had a suite, remember? but now I don't!). It was a brown DCL themed booklet with a lot of stuff in it that I filled out online instead, but I just stuffed it in my "Disney planning folder" -- which is collecting dust at the moment! After Christmas, I keep saying ....

I haven't even wrapped gifts yet and it is 7:45 AM on Christmas Eve, I have to work until at least noon AND my kids are here in the house, so that's going to be a problem. I'm definitely having "issues" this year! :santa:

(And Robin - I still think having your Cat 3 room is a good tradeoff for not having the documents yet! I'll be visiting you there in your Vermont stateroom!).

vicki, I hope you manage to get all your Christmas stuff done.

We are totally done with Christmas already. We had it all last weekend:confused3

We have no small children and that was the only time my son could make it. He lives 5 hours away and works as a paramedic.

So no last minute things for me to be doing today, just relaxing and enjoying the quiet season.

What I got yesterday came in a whitish envelope that says Special Cruise Documents Enclosed. It was stuffed inside a FedEx envelope. :thumbsup2

Inside is just a small spiral bound notebook sort of thing with luggage tags and other bits of information.

Actually none of it is really even important because if you fill your paperwork out online that is all you need. You can even show up at the port without ANY paperwork in hand and still get on the ship, as long as you have your proper identification. They have extras of all paperwork sitting out in the terminal. It just gets you checked in faster if you have the work all done ahead of time.

Hi Everyone! Just getting all of the fish extender info together. If you have not pm'd me your info(including cabin assignment) could you please do so? I have 6 families including myself so far on the list. I'll post the completed list by the 16th and then I can edit as needed. Thanks!

Hi Ganandem:

Will be PM you soon with info. Need to find out our cabin number. :)
Thanks!

a couple of things...

first - WE GOT OUR DOCS!!! They arrived yesterday!

second - I mentioned to DH that I needed to get some more FE gifts and he put his foot down. He said no more stuff (He saw the pile of things I'm taking for the TourGuideMiKE FE exchange and about had a melt down) so I'm going to have to bow out of the DIS FE. Sorry. :sad1:

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and I am sending wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year to all!!!

ganandem, could you please post when you change the fish extender list.

That way I will know if it changes and won't disappoint someone by missing their addition to the list.

Thanks.

Hi everyone!

Add us to the list! :cool1:

-GlobalChristine, DH, DS (4.5), & DD (2.5)

I have traveled frequently my whole life (usually internationally), but amazingly have never cruised before!

We're heading in the night before (can't trust Chicagoland weather!) & staying at the Radisson Resort at the Port. We'll be renting a car, as I'm hoping to hit the Kennedy Space Center on the 28th (later afternoon flight).

I haven't received my documents yet (and I booked in early September)! :)

Looking forward to this experience!

Welcome to the boards Christine!
You might want to edit out your job... they get kind of up in arms about that since the guy who runs the board owns an agency too (the one that is the "sponser" here. We get in trouble if we say what we do because it might be misconstrued as soliciting for business.

I booked a suite 1 week after the cruise went on sale (Oct 2008 if I remember correctly) and I just got my docs yesterday.

Cruising is a lot of fun and I hope you enjoy it!!

Robin, I made the edit, thanks for the heads-up! :)

I have a question for previous DCL cruisers about the Pirates in the Caribbean party-do most people really go all-out in pirate gear? I bought a few accessories for the kids already, but wasn't sure if that would be enough! Thx!

Hello and welcome aboard.

To answer your question about pirate night, yes some people do go all out and some people do nothing at all.

It is really up to your own personal tastes and how much fun you want to make of it.

You definitely won't be out of place if you do.

Waiting on info from Global Christine and then we should be complete. I also need to take Robin off once I figure out which Robin she is. I have sent pm's to both, so hopefully it should be completed soon. Since it is getting very close I feel that we should keep the list as is after the new info is added. Adding families in January would be a problem, since I have already shopped and completed my gifts. Any thoughts? I will go with whatever the majority feels is fair.:confused3
