January 24-28, 2010 -- Wonder

Last January after almost a whole week of snowy, blowy, blizzardy weather I told my husband we had to get out of town:rotfl:

I said I was going somewhere because I couldn't stand it any more.

This was on a Monday, by Friday we were headed to the airport to catch our flight for our cruise on the Saturday.

That is the closest I have ever booked a cruise:lmao:

Now that was crazy but we sure enjoyed that cruise. It was our first 7 day cruise with Disney.

I'll have to go back and figure out how many nights we have been onboard the Disney ships.

I just checked and we have had 43 nights on board the Disney Wonder and Magic.

But it's taken us 11 cruises to accomplish that:thumbsup2

We own our own business and it's not easy to get away for bigger chunks of time.

Therefore we have done many shorter cruises.

They just fit better for our schedule.

How fun!! Where do you live that it was blizzardy? We live in MN, where it is very blizzardy!!

I will love leaving MN at the end of January!

Wow, that's 6 weeks on the ship! I thought it was fun to figure out how many nights we've spent on the ship.

I'm excited to be going on the Wonder for the first time!

Wow, I hadn't thought of it that way. That makes it seem very impressive, doesn't it:thumbsup2

We live in Ontario Canada. We are about an hour away from the Detroit, Michigan border.

We get some blizzardy stuff but usually it's not too bad around here.

We still enjoy getting away from the wintery weather though.

After spending so much time on the Magic, you will find that the Wonder is almost interchangeable with it.

Everything is in the same place but there are a lot of small differences.

Mainly in the names of the Adult nightclubs and Triton's/Lumiere's.

Some of the decorating is also different.

You can have fun going around the ship and finding all of the differences.

The teen clubs are also totally different between the ships. A whole different feel to each of them. I prefer the one on the Wonder because it is more "homey". The Magic teen club feels too nightclubish to me. Just my personal taste. :confused3

I'm sure you will love the Wonder just as much as the Magic.

Hey Robin and fellow January 24 cruisers! I haven't popped in here for SO long! I'll have to catch up with the posts.

Well sadly, I am no longer Robin's neighbor up there on Deck 8 -- we decided to downgrade our cabin to a Cat 6 from the Cat 3. Ah, such is life - I'm sure it will still be great -- gives us something to look forward to for future cruising. We are now in 6558.

Other than that cabin changing activity, I have literally done nothing about this cruise -- and might not even change that between now and then! I do so much planning for our WDW trips (and our cruise is bookended by weekends at WDW), it will be nice just to do nothing related to the cruise.

My only big plans are to think about cruisewear -- everyone at my house needs some new clothes, so I'm going to have to give that some thought. What are you all taking clothing wise? (I have a DH, DD8 and a DS11 at cruise time).

Hi everyone
is anyone doing the Atlantis via getting a room at the comfort inn in Nassau?
We have one room and get 4 bracelets to Atlantis waterpark with the room but are a family of 5. Trying to figure out getting a fifth band? I heard you can buy them seperate at Atlantis but they don't always have them available. Anyway just thought I would post here to see if any one else is doing this and if people ever go in on rooms together for the bands?

Sorry I can't help you with your Atlantis question.

I have been to Atlantis a couple of times but never to use the water park facilities.

Hopefully you can find someone to help you with your questions.

vicki, I have learned over the years to pack a lot less than I think I will need.

We are not "dressy" people, no jacket/suit/tux or fancy dresses to pack for us.

We dress nicely to eat in the dining room, just not formally.

TWO MONTHS

from today we will be boarding the Disney Wonder.

:woohoo: :dance3: :boat: :teeth:

Disney Cruiseline website is now showing Categorys 10, 11 and 12 available for our cruise date.

Still some hope for upgrades for us GTY CAT 12 cruisers:thumbsup2

Doesn't matter, either way we're glad to have you onboard with us.

Care to share any information with us?

Enquiring minds want to know :scratchin

Thanks - we'll have to see what we can take - we're flying (and usually drive) so it will be tougher -- I hate packing for January Disney trips to begin with due to the changeable weather, then throwing the cruise in as well is just complicating things more! At least we have an Owner's Locker with the majority of our toiletries in it - that will give us more room in our luggage.

I hear ya Vicki! I'm trying to not stress over what to pack. But I know I will start to stress around the first of the year...

Hello Fellow Cruisers!

We will be joining you for four glorious days at see.
Travelling Party is me, Dh, DD 3 yrs, and DD 1 yr.

Could use some help in what to do in port with the little ones?

Wendy

Hello and welcome aboard and welcome also to the DISboards:welcome:

Glad to have you travelling with us.

I can't help you with what to do with the little ones because I've never cruised with children quite that young before.

I'm sure that if you check around the cruise threads you might be able to get some good information there.

Welcome to the boards and to our little group!

I'm not a big port fan (Nassau anyway) - but if you've never been there it's cool to go on shore to see!

I don't think there is much to specifically do with 3 and 1 yr olds - it's more sight seeing and shopping oriented. We didn't have a kid with us on our last cruise though, so I could be overlooking some ideas.

UGH! I haven't been on here forever!! There is this other board that seems to take most of my internet time. :rolleyes1

Can you guys believe that this cruise is this close?! I am getting so excited yet so overwhelmed with what has to be done still! We have decided to surprise our kids with a (driving) trip to CA (we live just outside of Nashville) to see their grandparents, an aunt and uncle, and most imporatantly, their cousins for Christmas! We leave 3 weeks from tomorrow. Everything has to be packed the day before we leave, during the 6 hours that the boys are at school. That includes Christmas presents. I think that we are going to end up shipping as much as we can so that our van isn't overly stuffed. Then, to top it off, I am in charge of the Christmas party in my second graders classroom on the day that we leave. So that means that it leaves my husband to pack the last minute stuff in the van! I am going to have major high blood pressure until I know that we have everything!

Once we get home from CA, we will have 17 days until we leave for the cruise!:banana: It will be a little crazy unpacking and then repacking. But, the good side - the suitcases will be out, so I can leave them out and start packing. I just can't believe that we are this close already! Time is going to FLY!!

I have gone back and forth of the FE, but this is such a small group, my family and I are in. YAY!!

Wow this cruise is sneaking up on me! We really need to finalize who will be participating in the fish extender gifts soon. If you want to participate please pm me. Include the names and ages of participants and your stateroom number if you have it. I will collect everyones info until Dec. 18th and I will post a complete list by Dec. 21st. This way we will have time to make purchases and get crafty over the holidays. After I post the list we will have to choose who will deliver gifts on which days. Like I said earlier, the last group I was in went very smoothly. I chose one day to deliver and it took about a 1/2 hour to drop off all of the goodies that I had made. My kids are looking forward to the FE thing already!!
