January 21, 2010 - Wonder

We booked this cruise as a back to back from the 4 day cruise on Jan 17! We saved so much with the Kids sail free that we had enough to book this 3 day and stay on the boat for 7 days!:banana::banana:

The 4 day cruise will be a Christmas present :santa: for our kids and we are not telling them about the 3 day until we get back on the boat!

We are going to Atlantis on our first stop in Nassau, but we don't know what we are going to do on this cruise. My DH and I are thinking about leaving the kids in the club and lab and doing the Segway excursion.

My kids are DS 9 and DD 6.

This will be our 4th and 5th cruise!

We will be heading on the same cruise and I have an 8yr old boy and 6 yr old daughter-maybe they will meet in the kids areas-that would be nice-I also have a son who will turn 4 right before we cruise-can't wait-it is our first cruise and a total surprise for them! We are also heading to Atlantis for the stop in Nassau-sounds like we might bump into each other...

Hi Amanda,

We have a DD that is 6 and a DS that will almost be 4!

Great to hear there will be lots of kids their age on the cruise. We will have been at WDW for 7 days before the cruise so we will be utilizing the Kids Club to get some adult vacation on the ship :)

WOOOHHoOOO, we can't wait :)

Hi All- our family is set to sail on the 3 day Wonder (Jan. 21). This is our first cruise ever. Could any of you please give us any helpful hints-most of you seem to have done this before. Also, do people decorate their doors? I have 3 kids(boy-8, girl-6, boy-4).
Thanks-
Mandy

Hi Melanie- we are going to Magic Kingdom for one day and Seaworld for 2 before the cruise-so we will also look for some R & R from the kiddos as well. My mom and sister are also cruising with us so hopefully that will give my husband and I sometime together. Maybe we will bump into each other...

What is FE?

The FE is the "Fish Extender" gift exchange game that alot of families (mostly those traveling with children) on the Disney Cruises do. Basically, you hang a net bag or something equivalent from the fish emblem that is on each of the stateroom doors and other families that are participating in this event put small gifts in the bag for each family. I have never done the FE exchange because my husband and I have always traveled on the cruises without the kids; we have always taken the kids to Disneyworld on family vacations because they love the rides and attractions so much. But, the FE exchange sounds like alot of fun from what I have been reading on discussion threads. We are hoping to book a 3-day cruise to take the kids on for the first time in October, 2011. If we do, then we will most likely participate in the FE exchange on that cruise. We already have a 7-day trip booked at the Saratoga Springs Resort in Disneyworld for October of 2010 that the kids are so excited about. My husband and I hope to get a discount on the 3-day cruise in October of 2011 by booking that cruise while we are on our cruise in two weeks. They always offer incentives if you book your next cruise while on a current cruise. I'm sure I am not the only person who will reply to your question about the FE. There is someone on this discussion thread who is coordinating the FE for this cruise. See you on the cruise!!!

What is FE?

FE stands for "Fish Extenders". The rooms on the cruise ship have a little metal fish outside the door.... somehow, someone got the idea to hang an "extender" from these fish and put gifts in them.

If you want more info on "fish extenders", here is a good thread to start with:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

If you decide you want to participate, let me know.. I volunteered to be the "keeper of the list" for this cruise. So far there are 10 families signed up, with a total of 23 kids (I think I have my math right).

Thefyshes,
Where in Ontario are you from? We are in the small town of Fort Erie, just past Niagara Falls.

Krueger family,

This is the current list, so far. The list was advertised as a "kids only" list, meaning that we have more-or-less agreed just to exchange gifts for the kids... although some of you might feel inspired to get the adults some stuff too (but it's not "expected"). Feel free to join up and get your kids on the list:

KSandbergFL....: 1 boy (8)
MickeyMick1967: 1 boy (7), 1 girl (11)
MayoTwins.......: 2 boys (12,12), 1 girl (6)
Noahade..........: 2 boys (18,7), 1 girl (15)
Fivepin............: 3 boys (10,8,5)
LuvTheEars......: 1 boy (9), 1 girl (6)
SMSNorthUp.....: 1 boy (2), 1 girl (8)
TheFyshes.......: 1 boy (4), 1 girl (6)
CC197823........: 2 boys (10,8), 1 girl (2)
Craze4WDW.....: 1 girl (4)
Hawky7..........: 1 DH, 1DW

11 families/rooms, 14 boys, 7 girls

Wholly Smokes :) What are the chances? We are from Stoney Creek but know the area very well (I was raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake) and my Mum has a cottage in Crystal Beach. Such a small world because you have to admit "Ontario" is larger than we are making it seem to the American's on this site ;)

For anyone who is interested I called today to see what movies would be playing on our cruise on 1/21...I guess I am just so excited I am craving info LOL
Here is the list they gave me:

Up in 3D
G-Force
Surrogates
Toy Story 1
Toy Story 2 in 3D
Old Dogs
Princess and the Frog

If we're the only adults playing in the FE, I can just do the rooms who are doing family gifts if people don't want to do gifts for adults...I just thought it would be fun to be involved, but if people don't want to do gift exchange for adults, if they could let us know, so we can be sure to know how many families we are making gifts for. Not to be debbie downer, LOL but it would stink to do 11 gifts and only rcv one back....

so those of you who I know of already that are doing family gifts, thank you! And the rest who are involved, could you please let me know if you want to do gift exchange with us (me DW, and only my DH, no children) or if you'd prefer to just be doing the kids only, we are doing a family/stateroom gift for the people who are participating.

Thanks guys!

ONLY 3 weeks to go!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

On a totally different subject, anyone going to the parks after the cruise? we are going for just one day, but then its back to Oregon, and back to work on Tuesday...ughhhh

I am bringing various things for kids, adults, and teens so don't mind leaving stuff for adults who have a FE...

I am treating your room as though you are kids ;) Our FE's are not age related and you should be happy as an adult with what the kids are getting. I am not creating family or adult gifts for the people who have kids  We are sooo excited!

I am going to be bringing for kids, teens and adults as well, something for everyone, if you have a FE make sure you put it up :thumbsup2

Crystal Beach, that is too cool:thumbsup2 Our favourite restaurant ever is there used to be called Dagwoods, it is now called the Southcoast Cookhouse, right across from where the old park was, It's a small world after all:)

Too funny! We love that restaurant too! Phil the owner has done a great job (let's hope CB follows). My Mum rents two cottages there so we spend as much time as possible in CB at the beach in the summer. It's starting to get cold...so it's time for a get-a-way!
