January 2026 Check in Thread - Who's Coming?

I don't want to jinx it but there's a chance I'll be able to add on two extra days to my work trip late this month; I'd say it's 50/50 at this point. If so, I will be solo and have a park hopper for the 25th and 26th.

I've been lucky enough to visit for a couple days or so every year since January 2019 - minus one due to covid - so I won't be overly upset if I can't make it happen this time...

Actually I lied. I will ALWAYS be upset any time I think I might be able to visit DL or WDW and then can't, so here's hoping it works out! Will update when I get confirmation one way or the other.

Heading out for a Jan 29 to Feb 3. We are a WDW family and this is our first trip to DL! Going for my oldests 16th birthday and runDisney. We are staying at Grand Californian.

I really love the Grand! And Happy early birthday to your oldest.

How's training going?

Training?!?! I was supposed to train?!?!
Unfortunately I did something to my foot last week and Dr says I can walk it but running would be stupid. I walked most of Marathon portion a few years back to complete Dopey so I should be able to finish.

Well I completely changed our trip around today. Originally we were booked for the Fairfield across the street, I have lots of Hilton points but they were all super expensive for our dates and it wasn't worth it before today. I booked Hampton Inn because the price went way down but then looked at Candy Cane inn because I keep hearing how awesome it is. We also originally were only going to rent a car the first three days because parking is so high at hotels. I ended up adding the other three days to the reservation for only $70 because of the free parking situation at Candy Cane. I'm pretty sure that I'm at a wash for it all even with switching to what everyone says is a way better hotel and adding those three days to a car rental.

Welcome to the Candy Cane! I'll be there same time so we will probably see each other on the shuttle! I usually take the 8:00 (starting on Sunday). You will love James, our driver, he has been with CCI for many years. The breakfast is good, the grounds are beautiful. See you in a week!

I'm easy to recognize...the old lady all dressed in Disney! I think Sunday is going to be Marie, Monday is Cars Land, Tuesday is Mickey and Minnie's Date Night.

We will definitely look for you! I'm pretty excited we switched over there.

I’m now confirmed for THREE days instead of two thanks to my very understanding wife who will get a solo trip later this year to visit her family! I’ll have park hoppers January 25th, 26th, and 27th and will start all three days in DL. Lots of park hopping expected, though. As someone who grew up and spent most of his life visiting only WDW, I truly appreciate how easy it is to jump between parks, Downtown Disney, and also hotels for mid-day breaks.

As for plans in the parks, I've been lucky enough to visit every year since 2019 except 2021, so I've finally reached the point where there aren't really checklists or many must-do activities. Incredicoaster and Rise will both be down, and I like both, but it's not a big deal since I've been on both many times. It's weird to have reached that point. The great part about it, though, is that I now have the freedom and time on a three day solo trip to just stroll, relax, window shop, and soak in all of the details and ambience. Everything is on my own schedule and based on my own whims. Would I prefer my family be with me to share the fun? Absolutely. But since that's not an option, the next best one is to take advantage of some me time in the happiest place on earth.

I spent most of the year thinking it wouldn't happen for various reasons, so being about the only three days of the year I'll get to truly relax, I'm really looking forward to it.
