Just back from a 6 night holiday at DLP for Sunday 11th to Saturday 17th January. I do like it when people do lengthy highs and lows so ill do my best to bore you all to tears:

Highs

Getting 999,999 on Buzz Lazer Blast without the ride stopping - I was really happy with this, i love the ride so getting the highest score without the ride stopping once was awesome! The trick is shooting the middle of Zurg's chest inbetween the chest plates!

Character Interaction - Being a childless couple aged 30 and 25 respectively we know that the characters are mainly there for the kids but it was awesome to see such a positive response to us this time round. The characters were absolutely brilliant; the White Rabbit and Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland even came to interact with us during a parade! Very cool.

Ratatouille - I had deliberately avoided any spoilers on this and i was really eager to try it and its really an awesome ride - the future of rides in my opinion. Absolutely fantastic attraction. Although i still say they missed the boat not putting a photograph section on the ride.

Meal times - We visited Earl of Sandwich, the Lucky Nugget Saloon, Annette's Diner, Rainforest Cafe, Casey's Hot Dogs and En Coulisse amongst others and didnt have one bad dining experience; id score every single experience at least a 4 out of 5 and most would be higher. Service not always perfect but food always delicious.

Guided Tour - We had a beautiful guide called Deisy (pronounced Daisy) and it was only her second tour but she was absolutely great. Im a bit of a DLP geek i like to know all of the little stories and history behind the rides and lands but I still found out so much new information; she even took us behind the scenes at the Star Tours ride so we could see how it worked etc; really interesting. It was one of the best experiences ive ever had at DLP and would highly recommend the tour to anyone! It was 25 Euros and no annual pass discount and lasted around 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Customer feedback - We got asked to do a couple of surveys - one was to do with dining and the other was an interactive test almost with 7 different bags and you had to rate them in order of price etc. It was really good to feel valued and see that DLP is seeking the feedback of its guests.

Photopass - I'd heard Steve and Mark on the D2DLP Podcast say you couldnt get annual pass discount on Photopass but we tried and managed to get it! So it was 40 euros in the end and it was great value too. I dont know if it was just my imagination but the photographers seemed to take more photos when they saw the photopass lanyard thing.

CM's - All apart from one in City Hall who was a bit rude when we asked about the tour they were courteous, friendly, helpful and really got into the spirit of things. A far cry from the horror stories you hear.

Annual Pass - Great value and the discounts really helped out. I think if it went up to 299 for the Dream Pass we would still get it. I must say i dont agree with Mark from the podcast about it being in Disney's interests to make it a lot more expensive - we stayed in the Dream Castle and didnt buy tickets and still managed to spend near 700 euros between the two of us; 700 euros we wouldnt have spent if the annual pass hadnt been so affordable!

Lake Disney - Went to sit by Lake Disney on our last day (Saturday) and even though the parks and the village were busy and loud it seemed really serene and peaceful sat by the lake; awesome that you can get peace so close to all that atmosphere.

Queues Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - One night we went on Ratatouille 3 times in a row without any queue at all. January is so cold and theres a fair few things closed but it can be really worth it when you get chances like that. Theres something awesome about having your own boat on POTC!

Lows

Missing pieces - Its nothing huge but things like the 'singing' Donkey on POTC, the dueling pirates were covered for two days, the phantom and the dog are missing from the graveyard scene and there were a lot of other instances of things not working or going missing. I guess its better to take one or two things away than close the whole ride but its still a shame not to see those things.

Weather - Cant be helped; it is January after all! Sometimes good, but sometimes rain and always cold! Thank God for the lesser known covered bad-weather path or it would have been a lot worse!

Toilets - The smell from some of them was just horrendous; and theres nothing like some stray hairs in the hand dryers to make u skip drying your hands!

Not meeting Donald Duck - We didnt meet him on our last trip and wanted to this time and we couldnt find him anywhere, even asked in City Hall. We finally saw him by accident near Captain Hook's Ship but he had to run off before we could get to him; maybe he was running away from us ha ha!

Behaviour of some guests - Nothing too bad just people trying to push in sometimes, being rude in walkways, not looking after their children, smoking and so many people leaving the flash on their cameras during rides!

Leaving DLP - Always a heartbreaker having to leave; especially knowing you wont be back for quite a while! We are getting married in June and have a 3 week honeymoon touring California so we wont be able to afford it - the silver lining is we are spending 5 days in Disneyland Anaheim during the honeymoon!

Lastly, One of my biggest highs would be the planning of it all - reading things and listening to the D2DLP podcast and watching D2DLP TV have been a lot of fun. If only i won the Euro Millions i would pay them to make a 2-weekly one hour tv show and podcast! Awesome job they do, them and all of the fan sites and twitter accounts. Enough to keep a Disneyland Paris geek going for a while!

The future is bright for DLP, very exciting times ahead. Lets just hope they keep Cinemagique - id be heartbroken if they got rid of it!

Wow, what a fantastic trip you had :thumbsup2

I think all of us on here love the planning in the lead up to a trip :)

So nice to hear that you had such a good time at an 'off season' time of year. Well done for putting up with the cold :goodvibes

We were blown away with Ratatoullie too - got to be up there as one of my favourites now. I'd be gutted too if Cinemagique were to go.

Thanks for posting - so nice to hear so many positives :cheer2:

I love lengthy highs and lows too! We were there just before you (4th to 8th) and never got around to writing ours. The guided tour is something I have been wanting to do for a long time and it was good to hear it still gets a good review. Was it OK to do it in such cold weather? Were you on your own with your guide?

We too missed Donald Duck but mega congrats on your Buzz score, especially without stops!

Glad you had such a brilliant time and thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

Thanks for posting! sounds like a great trip. the tour sounds good but I won't be doing it until I'm on an adult-only trip. Thanks for buzz tip - my scores are usually pathetic!

Thanks a lot! I might have to put that Buzz score on my CV ha ha! The tour really was brilliant, really enjoyed it. We had it planned for a different day originally but we had to cancel it because it was raining and the cold didnt bother us at all; we spent quite a bit of it inside - inside Walts, inside the shops, inside the Star Tours behind the scenes so the cold was fine. We thought we were going to be on our own but we were on it with another couple which was great as they were a similar age to us and asked questions that we hadnt thought of so it was good having someone else there. Make sure u do the tour soon u wont regret it!

Sounds fantastic, and I will be trying that Buzz Lightyear hint in February!

What a lovely highs and lows. Delighted you had a lovely time and reading your post makes me excited for next January. Hope its every bit as quiet. Have a lovely time planning your honeymoon and best wishes for your big day

What a great message! Thanks Kizzabel, very nice of u! When do you go in January? I only go in January now its absolutely brilliant! Its cold, very very cold, but its brilliant! Hotels are cheap, no queues, i hear about people having to wait like 45 minutes for parade spots in the summer? U just turn up 3 minutes before the parade in January and theres loads of spaces. I cant recommend it enough.

Actually, come to think of it...i dont want people catching on about how great it is in January. January is horrible really... :rolleyes1

Lol :rotfl2::rotfl2:
We went before in mid/late January 2013 and while it was cold it never put us off! It was -14 and there snow on the ground, shovelled to the side but it was great and I'm going to pick up snow boots and thermals for next January so the kids will cope ok. We go a year tomorrow for my son's birthday. We are staying at the SQL so not to far to walk either.
Now shush! Can't let the secret get out ;)

Lovely set of highs, thanks for posting, and I know what you mean about cameras on rides. During our last trip, we were sitting behind a man with a camera/camcorder on a selfie-stick (but facing forwards) on Pirates and it had a light flashing on it constantly! Was secretly hoping there'd be a big splash ;)
