January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Jenny, I do that all the time! I think OH, we should do "that". Then i think, but then i would have to change "this". It's really weird. But, it can't be stopped!!!!! Your days sound fun!! the only thing...have you been to T-Rex, or a Rainforest Cafe? They are mighty loud!! If you go in the summer, the temp is great---they are always freezing in there. There is one room in T-Rex, that's like the Ice Age or something-I don't know how anyone can eat in it. The color is a weird blue/white--you can't really see anything. We did it once, but unless the kids are just begging, I won't go back. once was enough for me. But, that's just my 2 cents---the food was good--but I just thought too much was going on--I guess it wasn't disneyfied enough for my blood!!!!!

Tonight when I was lying down trying to get Keaton to sleep, I planned our "days" and ADR's...I had to do something to keep my mind occupied so I didn't fall asleep. How's this sound?
Saturday-arrival, walk around Epcot, Coral Reef
Sunday-AK, dinner at WCC
Monday-MK, early ADR CP to see Main Street USA empty, stay for Wishes (long day)
Tuesday-OFF, maybe an evening walk around the Boardwalk and dinner at Big River Grill or Downtown Disney and TRex (if the kids aren't too chicken) or Planet Hollywood
Wednesday-DS, Sci Fi Diner
Thursday-Epcot, Biergarten, Illuminations
Friday-Return to wherever, dinner at Ohana

Am I a complete nerd? I was bummed that our Tball game was cancelled because I could've talked Disney with our friends!!!

Now the great thing about this trip is it's a surprise. DD will not know. In fact a couple days ago she said "in 2011 when we go again can we go in October for my Birthday?" Hmmmm let me think2011 for Halloween??? Sounds great!
I would love to take her this year for her birthday, but I am a worry wart and it's out of my January comfort zone! If a deal came out I wouldn't second guess it. Think I need to go think on that some more.

Wow...I had no idea that January 2010 was going to be so popular!! We're going Jan 21-30 at ASMo. I've visited in June (never again!!) and October (3 times), but NEVER in January. I'm a little worried about the weather. But being from Central PA, I'm sure any weather in Florida will be SO MUCH better than what we're having at home!! I think we might even think it's warm enough to swim! I know the boys are excited about going in January too. Who knows....we may never go back in October again! We'll see!

You won't.!! We have done October as well---it's definitely easier packing--shorts and swimsuits.... but January is awesome. (And december!!) Those are our top choices--then end of April/May--when they aren't having holiday weekends!!! Dec/jan just seems more relaxed and more vacation-y to me!!! October is sweaty!!! I am not a sweat-lovin girl, as we have that almost all year round.

Speaking of T-shirts...man I'm at the point I could wear a new t-shirt every day at work LOL!! It's getting crazy LOL!! Although it doesn't help that I'm about to go look at the Disney Outlet and see if I can't find more LOL!

I may have to change our resort. If our friends go with us, I guess we'll either have to do ASMu so they can use the suite, or Port Orleans. Do both Riverside and French Quarter have rooms for 5?? Anyone??

Only POR will allow 5. Not sure I understand why, it's rooms are the same size as POFQ and CSR, and smaller than CBR's, but none of them allow 5.

Trust me, being from PA you will LOVE WDW in January!! We even had a few cold days this year when we were there - highs around 50-55, but it didn't bother us! We knew it was probably 10 degrees at home!

If it's in the 50's, then that won't be too bad. Just not swimming weather for us. We went in 2004 in March. The only day we had set aside for TL was our first day and it was a bit chilly. One of the life guards said it was 60, and windy, and the water was freezing cold. My DS10 (5 at the time and small for his age) was uncontrollably shaking (so badly that I had to carry him when we left), and his lips were turning blue. So everytime I hear about the "heated" water, I just laugh.

The kids pool was ridiculously freezing! My kids insisted on playing in it and then we'd hop over to the warmer big pool!

I went shopping at Walmart tonight and I bought my kids each a Thermos Funtainer for the trip! I'm going to put them in the "Surprise we're going to Disney" box for Christmas. DD is getting Tink and DS is getting Star Wars. The bag is hidden in my car until dh goes to work tomorrow! He'd kill me if he knew I was buying Christmas gifts or Disney stuff already!

ok, so stage 1 of Operation-Tootbrush-in-the-Kitty-Litter-Payback is in play and should arrive at our house tomorrow. The color I ended up getting wasn't my first choice, but it's what was on sale. I bought a matching Vera Bradley Hipster bag, a sunglass zip case, and a "tech case" for my iPhone. Below are the pics of what I should get tomorrow. Now I can carry it to places that I don't want to take my Coach bag, but I need to take a purse. Which is good b/c with summer coming that mean DCI (Drum Core International) shows are coming. The last time I took my Coach bag to see a DCI show, my 11yr old dropped a full open Sprite 20 ounce on it.

Lucky you. We're right outside Toronto, so it's not a long drive, in fact it's a nice drive, we get to see the falls on the way !
