I agree about the Boardwalk. We stayed there in October and it is now one of my favorites. The Grand Floridian is nice..but not all its cracked up to be. I'd prefer the Poly if I am spending that kind of money.

I get it, too! I don't need to stay at the Yacht Club or the Beach Club - if I want Nantucket, it's cheaper to go to Nantucket! Ditto for the Cape. Those are too much like "home". So it'll be Wilderness Lodge if we upgrade, or we'll stick with CSR (or CBR if CSR isn't available for the HUGE deal!) :rotfl2:

All you guys talking about the resorts looking like where you live make me laugh. I don't have that problem! Really I don't think a resort that represents WI would be a hot seller:rotfl:

Well, Kayte, we'll be surgery buddies! My date is next Friday, as well!!! I'll be thinking about you. :)

Oh no.... two Snowbirds that we will need to worry about that day... I am sure everything will go fine...:grouphug:

First Happy B day (day late) to Becca & to Wendy's DD Maggie.

Well its not been a good week for me snowbirds I could use some hugs. First DH has been having issues w his mom things are not good there. But the main issue is she is supposed to go to Disney with us in Jan. So here I sit wondering how to handle any & all reservations made for 5 if we end up only being a 4. So then to top it off tests came back from Doc yesterday I do have to go in for surgery next FRI!! It was either now or after the trip. So I really hope they do a good deal free park hoppers room rate whatever I really need some cheering up:sick:

 Hi Kayte  I hope things work out...family issues are never fun!!! I'm hopingfor a great deal for all our snowbirds!!

Airline question: A few weeks back, from Houston to Orlando was $368, they have been dropping over the last week--Yesterday was $268, today is $248. Here's the dilemma---how many days should I wait and see how low they go? If I get to say $200--and the next day it goes back up, I have 'lost' the savings. If you book and cancel with Cont. to re-book, I think it's a $100 penalty--PER Ticket! That's what the lady told me last year. So, how many days should I wait? What is the optimum time period before a date that the tickets are the lowestk? I know the last few years , we book around 12 or 13 weeks out and that's as low as they go before they start to increase again. But, with oil/gas dropping what should we do? Anyone wondering besides me?

Right before Ike hit they were down to $238 but we forgot to book in the Ike rush. We booked 6 days after the storm and they had gone up to $245-50 (I think, I may be off by a buck or two) I'd get them soon. When we went in 2005 we paid $235 and in 2007 we paid $250 per. I think anything under $250 direct RT is great.

snykymom.....I understand what you are saying about YC/BC BUT....
I can't overemphasize the convenience factor of staying so close to EPCOT. It is really wonderful. Now that being said...for a little more you can stay at one of the monorail resorts and be really convenient.

We don't even consider how close we are in relation to the parks when we book our resort. We book based on price alone. That's why we usually stay at All Star Music.

I'd love to stay at one of the monorail resorts, well wait I take that back, I'd love to stay at Poly or Contemporary...the Floridian does NOTHING for me.

Oh well, I'll never have enough money to stay someplace else...so the Values work fine for me.

Heck, it's Disney, I'd sleep in a tent in the parking lot if I had to.:rotfl:

I used to feel the same way about a resort that is like home. DH and I were very disapointed when CSR was sold out on our Honeymoon, so we ended up booking at Port Orleans French Quarter. I never wanted to stay there because I live in Louisiana and look at buildings like that daily.

However- WE LOVED IT!!!! It was so quiet and peaceful. Our room overlooked the river and we were very happy little campers. It was perfect for our Honeymoon.

Ohhhhh... I just got the mail... two good things... one NO BILLS... and I received the authorization to have my gastric bypass surgery!!!! we were not sure if they would approve it or not because I don't meet the weight requirement... but other health issues I guess were enough!!! I am so excited!!!!! The thought of not having to take multiple medications a day is very exciting... and losing some weight is also great!!!!

:lmao: :lmao:

Kayte...so sorry about all that is going on in your life!:grouphug:

I usually book on money and not on theme also!!! I had contemplated over and over book at a mod, I still fight over it in my head LOL!! But in the end I really would just like a nice clean room and a bed to sleep in so I'm not going to be picky. Although I have decided with me and mom in December I'm going to stay at CBR (how can you not with how Shelly raves on it LOL :rotfl: ). I'm going to hope for a good Value rate and maybe free dining I can spoil my mom on being 2 years cancer free (we'll be celebrating a bit early but I'm okay with that LOL)

POR sounds beautiful but I wonder if it's going to look too much like home? Here in Houston we have the azalea's and magnolia's and all the lush green plants that POR has and I wonder if it will be enough of a difference to make me feel like we are on vacation. KWIM? If we stay CBR then it really feels different...hence....more like a vacation. Okay that sounds really whiney...but what can I say....wah wah wah! :lmao:

It's not whining! I totally understand. I live very close to the Jersey Shore, and so I'm a bit leery about staying at the Boardwalk. Granted, Atlantic City doesn't look like that anymore, but it definitely reminds us all of Cape May. While it's beautiful and fun, it's a little bit too close to our ordinary summer vacation, which is why we always put off staying there. My first timer friends were shocked to visit it and see they even had a miniature Lucy the Elephant in the lobby - at least, all Philadelphians I know have convinced themselves it's our beloved Lucy!

Carrie-
It sure is fun to watch your family bounce! Mo-mo is such a cute name and I can't believe you put yourself as a mean witch!

So not the Carrie I know!

Thanks guys I am trying not to let the DMIL thing bug me & stay outta of it but I really don't know what to do about the trip should I go ahead with reserving for 5 & hope that I can get a refund if she doesnt go?

Sarah will be thinking of you too mine is in the afternoon yuck I hate waiting! Have a good trip.

Oh how I wish I lived somewhere where I could say ya'll all the time. :cloud9: Seriously, I love it!

I say let the ya'lls fly! I've heard that ya'll is working it's way into other regional speak.

Oh and if you love "ya'll" you'd be head over heels for how many times a day I hear FIXIN'! As in "I'm FIXIN' to go pick up my son at preschool"! :lmao: There are so many words that are soooooo Texan I just love 'em all !!!

Wishing good health and speedy recovery to Sarah & Kayte with their surgeries :grouphug:

And to Wendy when she has hers (and congrats on getting the OK for it!)

And to Wendy's d Maggie: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
:cheer2: :rockband: :cake: :bday: party:
