January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part II !!!

If money were no object, I think I'd choose the AK Lodge and splurge on two rooms for all 7 of us. I'd still only sign up for the regular dining plan because I wouldn't want the restriction of the 2 TS meals, but I'd do the 2 table service meal meals too. 
I would stay for at least 10 days, hit a water park or two, but make sure I got to ride every single thing at Disney I want to ride multiple times. So, that means extra days in the parks. I'd probably rent a car to make travel more dependable and easier too.
I'd splurge on Goofy's Candy place and let the kids get as much of anything they wanted. And I've have seafood at least once while we were there.
I would also hire childcare so Scot and I could spend at least one meal alone. And one night in the park alone.
I'd sign my kids up for all those special little parties and things, maybe even that boutique for the little girls. And I might even hire a personal tourguide who could do all the running around for FPs and such that TourGuide Mike describes himself doing.

I have a QOTD-
If money was not an issue.....what DW resort would you choose?
What would your dream vacation be?
Hmm. . . DH and I would have to duke that one out. I would choose the Poly and he would choose the Contemporary.
Actually I would be happy with a MK view in either!! 
We have visited all the monorail resorts so when we are ready to go deluxe we will have a feel for them. We really didn't care for the Grand Floridian. It's nice and all, but maybe a little too nice for the boys. 
Now on the Epcot side of things, I would probably go for the Beach Club! So to answer the dream vacation question - I would be happy to stay at the Poly with a lagoon/MK view (you know, one of those $500 a night rooms!) for oh about 2-3 weeks!!

Busy time at work - I haven't had time to post much. Plus Phillies game last night and the debate, I didn't even sign on at all!
QOTD - If WITH kids - Yacht Club, Turret Suite, WITHOUT kids - Garden Suite, Boardwalk Villas. I think I'd want the Dining Plan, for the convenience. 2 weeks minimum stay, with a comfortable rental van or SUV. Maybe even with a driver!!!!

Okay were booked into POR for our dates and the flight is booked too. ADR's have been made and I'm waiting for a code or dis discount (could we all cross our fingers for free DP) The only thing that is giving me pause is the dates we choose....
Arrive Thurs Jan 8th @ 7:07 pm and leave Sun. Jan 18th @ 3:04. We are going to be dealing with marathon crowds and the first half of MLK weekendSomeone please tell me that the marathon crowds won't be too bad...My DH prefers to go when it is less crowded and I have assured him that Jan is a slow time. We have only gone late Sept 16-22 2006 (CBR/WL) and Dec 1-9th 2007 (COR) and both time were light, so that is all I have to base crowds on.
I'm just hoping that I booked the right meals, flight, hotel....do you KWIM? UGGH! I just wish that some PIN or CODE would come out and put a little icing on this DIS cake!
Oh and I also booked 7 of the 10 meals as character meals.... crazy I know, but DS will be turn 3 two days after our trip. We will not be having a B-Day party at home we will be celebrating the b-day on the trip. DS and DD loved the character meals last time and I booked Le Cellier and Coral Reef for DH so he will be happy.
I just hope the crowds work with us...fingers crossed!!!!

We are hoping for a PIN or free dining too!!
I'm thinking since they are giving out free dining in December we might have a good chance of getting it in January too. I would think December is a much busier month than January so they would want to offer something, right??? A girl can always hope! Right now I still only have a room only ressie. . . Waiting on a good package offer!

I had to really think about it. I would choose to rent DVC points and stay in the new BLT at the Contemporary in a 2 bedroom if it were the 4 of us, or in a grand villa if more family were coming along. (Probably concierge level!) If money were no object, I'd definitely invite more people to come along! The more the merrier, right?
We'd have a washer and dryer in the room, too.
I'd absolutely either rent a nice vehicle, or at least get limo service to and from the airport as I'll have access to the monorail from my resort.
However, I'd absolutely do the deluxe dining plan so I could do lots of signature restaurants, so a car may be nice to do the meals at the resorts.
Hmm...at this point I'd probably look into the platinum plan. Don't you get to golf and fish and things with that? Yep, that would be the way to go for DH! I'd also have DH do the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
And my stay would need to be a minimum of 2 weeks. Minimum.

Hey all! I've been MIA with a sick little boy. He seems to be on the mend now - whew. Just in time for Fall Break and a visit to the in-laws!
For the QOTD - definitely two rooms, or a giant suite, at the GF or Contemporary - and a long trip! Oh, and the platinum package and a dinner at V&A's.
Oh - I saw the other day in the souvenir discussion people mentioned snowglobes. If you're flying and plan to get a snowglobe, it may be worth having it shipped. You can't carry them on a plane and it would be risky to check it... I've heard horror stories about the trash cans at MCO security full of snowglobes...

I would stay either the Walt Disney Suite at GF or the Asanti(?) huge suite at AK for at least 14 nights. I would hire a WDW VIP tour guide for everyday. We did this this past January for one day. Let me tell you we got sooooo much done. 2 parks, 5 live shows with VIP seating and rode every major attraction ride in the 2 parks. And I would have a romantic 3 hour cruise me and DH with dinner and butler on the Grand one yacht. Dinner at least once at V&A and a few lunches in the Castle for DD. Wow....I could go on and on.....Afternoon tea, spa....

I would stay either the Walt Disney Suite at GF or the Asanti(?) huge suite at AK for at least 14 nights. I would hire a WDW VIP tour guide for everyday. We did this this past January for one day. Let me tell you we got sooooo much done. 2 parks, 5 live shows with VIP seating and rode every major attraction ride in the 2 parks. Today my baby turns 7. He is pretty excited. He was already hyper this morning, can't wait to see him when I take sugar cookies to his class!

As for the Christmas shopping. . . well I really haven't done a thing!
I am going to get on that Christmas shopping very soon!
I was forced into Christmas shopping in July! We had a big family reunion this summer and I wanted to be able to send stuff back with the family when they went home to save on the cost of shipping so.......... I pretty much got all my neices and nephews done (7 of them) and picked up a few things for my kids too! Just have to do my parents, InLaws and DH!
Mickey's PhilharMagic Update:
My Husband suggested that we check into February to see if the refurb of Mickey's PhilharMagic continued later than 1/31. Unfortunately what we found wasn't good news. It is scheduled to be down from January 18th - February 6th. So much for hoping it reopens in January a few days early.
Darn! I was so hoping it might open early! Maybe they will delay the colsing a few days - the proposed closing date is the day before we arrive! Please - wait 2 more days? Now that sounds like a brilliant idea!
Ok... I had to post one more time before I get back to work.
I probably won't be around much until Tuesday... I'm going home to do some more wedding planning this weekend, soo tomorrow is my 3 months too!

If money was not an issue.....what DW resort would you choose?
What would your dream vacation be?
Easy! 2 weeks @ Wilderness Lodge - Concierge Level! Deluxe Dinig Plan w/ Wine package! Definitely somewhere around Christmas time so I could drool over all the Christmas decorations and see all the fabulous shows!
If money were no object, I think I'd choose the AK Lodge and splurge on two rooms for all 7 of us. I'd still only sign up for the regular dining plan because I wouldn't want the restriction of the 2 TS meals, but I'd do the 2 table service meal meals too.
I would stay for at least 10 days, hit a water park or two, but make sure I got to ride every single thing at Disney I want to ride multiple times. So, that means extra days in the parks. I'd probably rent a car to make travel more dependable and easier too.
I'd splurge on Goofy's Candy place and let the kids get as much of anything they wanted. And I've have seafood at least once while we were there.
I would also hire childcare so Scot and I could spend at least one meal alone. And one night in the park alone.
I'd sign my kids up for all those special little parties and things, maybe even that boutique for the little girls. And I might even hire a personal tourguide who could do all the running around for FPs and such that TourGuide Mike describes himself doing.
But this isn't something I've thought about at all! Nope.

Oh yeah, 2 rooms for the 4 of us!!

Free Dining in December! It's is all over the Dining boards - some pin codes and some Disney Visa offers - but for very specific dates! No general public offers! Let's hope it extends into January with a room discount and/or free hopper upgrades!
