I don't really remember much about the rides on my first trip.

I guess I will say IASW because my mom used to read me a book about the ride when I was very young (3 or 4). My aunt went to DW for her Honeymoon when I was 5 years old and took lots of pictures of the ride for me. I couldn't wait to see the little Dutch girls and the Hula girls.:cutie:

It was my most anticipated ride. :lmao:

Peanut- She is SO beautiful! There is just something about little girls named Belle.:cutie:

Thanks so much for sharing the pictures with us!:woohoo:

Shelly, kim and amanda~
Yes, I too have a travel rubbermaid! It started out for Disney, but I use it any time we are going away for a weekend or short trip. My mom is 3 hours away, so that counts!!! I keep it stocked at all times. If we get down close to the end of things we will take on trips, it goes in the bucket!! Toothpaste, make-up, anything like that. I always keep travel size stuff in there-q-tips, cotton balls, shampoo, etc.Toothbrushes and covers, travel detergent-the works!! then when it's time to get ready for Disney, I just get out the packing list!!

Makes things easier all around!!!Dh & kids know about this and they are used to my crazy planning obsession--so they like it!!

Peanut - Thanks for sharing! Your DD is adorable! Glad she had a great day! :goodvibes

DS6 had a much better day today. He even said that he didn't miss me as much today! :rotfl: He had art and library and got a Star Wars book at Library and then I picked him up and he was happy to skip the bus ride home! All is well again! :goodvibes I am so relieved. We'll see how the rest of the week goes. . . .

We made it through Open House today now we'll see how the first day of Kindergarten is tomorrow!

For all of you talking about getting stuff ready and packed for your trip, do I have a good one for you. My Husband already has our suitcases out and he has bought 8 (at least) Disney shirts for each of us, one for each day of our trip folded nicely and packed in each suitcase. And he keeps adding, he'll see something on Disney.com or in the store and he buys that one too. My Son actually has 11 shirts for the trip! I'll have enough shirts to change every two hours at this pace.:rotfl:

(Yes, I have my tote packed with goodies too, but I'll just pick on my Husband for now):)

thanks guys!! I've always thought she was cute, but I am biased:lmao: Shelly...glad you guys had a better day.
I know....love that name Belle.

All my DH does is keep harping on me to get the Dlx Dining Plan. When I explained again tonight how the DlxDDP for 2 adults costs more than our room per night, he said, "Cancel the room, we can stay at a Super 8, I wanna eat"!

I won't be canceling our room at AKV, no way, no how. :snooty:

Yeah, he's alright.:lmao: He does spread sheets with me, all the planning, ADRs, surfs the web for any bit of WDW news he can fine, shops me into the ground (amazing I know!), and has posted with my sign on for about 1/3 of our posts (he loves shooting the breeze with you guys). He's just a big kid at heart and I love him for it.:) Makes my job planning our trips a whole lot easier.

I can honestly say that I don't think I have ever looked forward to January before in my life! :rotfl:

Hey now! I'm a January baby! I always look forward to January. :) (Of course, it's EARLY January so it gets swept away in the post-Christmas, back to school mess... and just once I'd like my mom to remember!!)

QOTD......Name the first ride you can remember or recollect from your lifetime that you rode at WDW.

I can still remember my adventure on Mr. Toad's Wild ride back in 1977 but the first ride we actually got on that trip was 21,000 Leagues under the Sea. I still remember looking out and seeing the water and sealife go by......intense for a 6 year old.

I have NO idea what my first ride was but my first memory was at Cinderella's Royal Table (or whatever incarnation it was in 1985!) when Prince Charming stopped by my table and kissed my hand. I must have turned BEET red. :) I know I had a blast; my parents must have, too. We went in 1989, 1993, and 2001 with my parents. (And since then I've gone in 2005 and 2007... and my parents have gone AT LEAST twice more since 2001)

Peanut~Your DD is precious! She looks so much like you from the pic in your avatar! I'm sure you hear that all the time. If I had a penny for each time someone told me that my son looks like my husband, we would have been to Disney and back, paid in full, at least 3 times.

I hate to think of my son going to Kindergarten next year. I'm crying thinking about it already *sniff, sniff*

Oh! The QOTD . . . I think the first ride that I remember is the Haunted Mansion or Peter Pan's Flight or Jungle Cruise. My first trip was in 1979ish and I was really young. It wasn't until I was a little older that I have any memories.

OMG-your mom forgets your birthday??? :scared1:

Cinderella's Royal Table (or whatever incarnation it was in 1985!)
Well, a couple of years earlier, it was King Phillip's Table. We were there on our honeymoon, and had a table overlooking Cinderella's Carousel. Our waitress came over and asked if we wanted dessert. We said, no, we wanted to go catch the fireworks. She stared at us for a couple of seconds, blank-faced, and then slowly raised her arm, pointed out the window and said, "There." We had dessert. :rotfl2:

I cannot remember my first ride at Disneyland, I was 7, and my first time to WDW was 1999 and sadly I don't remember that either! But I remember the first ride the last time we went! HAHA barnstormer. The kids loved this as their first ride!
Me, too! I went to the Land when I was 7. I don't remember which ride I rode first but I do have clear recollections of spinning in the teacups and having the IASW song in my head. IASW must have left a good impression because, for a long time, every time I would hear that song, I would get all warm and fuzzy inside. Unlike other folks who have had nightmares about that song!

One of the many things I am excited about this upcoming trip is to go back in time to the MK - I want to ride everything -- teacups, IASW, TTA, HM, Dumbo, .....scoot over little children, here I come!

I'd be embarrassed to tell anyone other than my sister but I know you ladies understand my obsession.

I have a secret Rubbermaid tub that I've been stashing stuff in. Things I've picked up along the way that way it doesn't seem like I'm spending so much as the big trip gets closer. I've had all our travel stuff/toiletries for 2 months already! And they are all sorted into gallon bags according to what they are: laundry stuff, hair stuff, baby stuff, etc. I actually almost bought some juice boxes since they were on sale to set aside but they would have expired before the trip!:lmao:

:lmao: Hey ! I have one of those too! Let's see, what's in mine? Activity books for the girls for the plane ride, rain ponchos, Travel size shampoo and body wash, some outfits I bought on clearance and stashed away, small size coffee filters, mcdonalds toys, and about a million other things I can't remember right now! :rotfl: When I find something that we might need, I buy and throw in the bin! We should form a support group - The secret bin keepers club! ;)

As for QOTD - I was 12 my first trip and I don't really remember my first ride but my first Disney memory is priceless! My family (Me, sis, Mom, Dad) just pulled into the TTC parking lot. Get out of the car and we see people running. My Dad shouts " hurry up let's go!" and takes off running! My mom shouts after him " where are you going?" my dad shouts back " I have no idea but these people seem to know the way! so hurry up!" At that we all take off running without even knowing why we are running or even where we are going! Turns out we were running to catch a trolley to the monorail line! I remember laughing so hard my side hurt and trying to catch my breath..... and losing it again at my first site of THE CASTLE!

Oh, that's right - that's what it was called. King Phillip's or King Stefan's - whichever one was wrong for CINDERELLA's castle. :cutie:

OMG-your mom forgets your birthday??? :scared1:

Annually. The worst part is - it's a week after her's! Though, I'm not 100% sure if it's a true forget or more a "got so caught up in the post Christmas hulabaloo" that she didn't get a card or anything. My DH had the nerve today to ask where his birthday gift from my folks was - I reminded him, his bday was ONLY a week ago! ;)

"Hello, my name is Trixie, and I have a secret bin."

Everybody together now, "Hi, Trixie." :rotfl2:

Peanut your daughter is beautiful!!!!

QOTD: I think it was the teacups if I remember correctly...that was a LONG time ago :rotfl2:

I'm feeling a bit better today and dd went for her first day of pre-k today. She had a great time ofcourse. Its nice that she's back in school however I'm bummed we don't have as much time at home anymore :( My weeks are so crazy now that school is back in! I'll definitely be here less...just don't have the time to check in as much.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!!!

Hello Snowbirds,

Peanut- you have a beautiful DD. I was scrolling quickly and thought you had posted pictures from your first day of school but then read it was your DD. I do like that last photo--priceless.

My DS goes to JK today and I know I will have to bring a box of tissues. We dropped off his DS on Tuesday. They attend a school that has JK to Grade 8. This year she has to go to the playground of Grade 4 to Grade 8. I sniffled as we watched her go off (no parents waiting on that side--not cool). I blamed pretend allergies but I know there will be a loss on innocence this year, I just hope she keeps believing until after Disney. My DD was so excited to wear her new Hannah Montana shirt only to find out some of her friends are so over Hannah. What a shame. Luckily some of her friends still like Hannah and she will wear her shirt again.

For the QOTD- my first trip was as an adult, belated honeymoon in 1997. I don't remember my first ride but I do remember my favorite. It was Horizon. I dragged my DH on that several times. As well as Imagination with the Dream Maker. I love Figment.

I do remember what rides I missed, as this was my first trip and one of several for him. I didn't get to ride Dumbo or Space Mountain, the two I wished for since I was little. Fast forward to 2006 and our first family trip and my second to the World, and I was able to ride Dumbo (finally!!) with our DS while Wishes was happening. What a perfect ride, I could not ask for a better first time. Although I still missed out on riding Space Mountain (I bugged profusely to no avail). This trip Space Mountain is at the top of my list. I am keeping my fingers crossed it isn't closed for renovations when we are there.
