Can anyone give me some suggestions on good counter service places in Epcot? Please and Thank You.

My favorite CS in all of Epcot is Sunshine Seasons Food Court in The Land pavillion. Great place and sooooo many choices it is easy to find something for everyone....they even use the vegetables grown right there in The Land. I especially love the grilled salmon from the rotisserie section. There is also a soup and salad section. Asian and sandwich area. Grab n go items and a great bakery area. You really get your DDP worth on the dessert there.

Second best CS is Tangeringe Cafe in Morrocco. Love the sharwma platters with both the lamb and chicken.....so flavorful and one of the few places on property to get really good hummus.

Great question about the CS recommendations -- I'm writing them down! Hopefully, by January, I'll collect lots of tips from my more experienced Snowbird friends.

Thanks!

Okay, last post for the day....

Mousesavers.com just posted some October-December discounted packages....hopefully we'll see a bunch for January in a few weeks! :cool1:

Just your usual fast food type stuff. But it was all hot & fresh! Plus you can eat upstairs and it's less crowded up there and you can look out over Epcot!

Here's my review on it in my dining report!

DH and I really enjoy Yorkshire County Fish Shop.:)

Thanks to everyone for the advice on all of the food places, they all sound good....now I have to choose one!

I just found this info on mouse savers and thought it might be useful to those that havent decided when to go to disney. It shows when a lot of the different groups will be there.

"Some less-known events that may affect crowds, park hours and/or traffic at Walt Disney World:

Cheerleeding/Twirl/Dance Competitions - Various dates each year, especially January-March. These usually don't have a lot of impact on the in-park crowds. The issue is that the Value resorts (All-Stars and Pop Century) play host to hordes of girls who can be extremely loud -- so you may want to avoid those resorts during competitions. Some events take place at Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular in Disney's Hollywood Studios, so that attraction might be closed. Some of the competitions and events include UCA/UDA Thanksgiving Day Parade (November 25-28, 2008), College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships (January 16-18, 2009), National Dance Team Championship (January 30-February 1, 2009), National High School Cheerleading Championship (February 7-8, 2009), Twirlmania (February 13-16, 2009), Contest of Champions Nationals (February 28-March 1 and March 6-8, 2009), National All Star Cheerleading Championship (March 14-15, 2009), All Star Cheerleading and Dance Worlds (last one was April 24-26, 2009).

Mardi Gras Week. February or March (varies annually - 2009 date: February 24). Many New Orleans schools have all or part of this week off, so families leave town the weekend before the holiday and head to Disney World in droves.

Grad Nites - Usually the last two weekends of April. (2009 dates: April 17, 18, 24, 25) Private parties for graduating high school seniors are held from 10:00 pm through 4:00 am at Disney's Hollywood Studios. On Grad Nites, the park will probably close to the public at about 6:00 pm. From 8:00 pm on, avoid driving in the area around the park as busloads of kids will be arriving, which may affect traffic.
Gay Days. First week of June (2008 dates: June 3-9). Visit GayDays.com and OneMightyWeekend.com for more info about the two organized events. At most, only one park per day will be more crowded than normal; often there is no discernable effect on crowds.

"Jersey Week" - Usually the first or second week of November. The New Jersey schools have a teachers' convention (upcoming convention dates: November 6-8, 2008), which is often close to Veterans Day (November 11). Lots of people take advantage of this time off to pull their kids out of school for the whole week and add on the weekend before and/or after, taking this opportunity to go to Disney World in the "off season." New Jersey is the single biggest market for Walt Disney World -- you do the math!

ABC's Very Merry Christmas Day Parade footage is taped for 2 or 3 days in Magic Kingdom, usually shortly after Thanksgiving (2007 dates: November 30-December 1). The exact dates aren't usually released until sometime in the fall. Unless you want to watch the production process, you may want to avoid Magic Kingdom on these days, because it creates crowd problems. Also, on those days some shows or parades may be cancelled or rescheduled. The Christmas Day Parade is broadcast on ABC on December 25 each year.

Pop Warner Week - The Pop Warner Superbowl and National Cheer & Dance Championships are held at Disney World in early December (2008 dates: December 7-13). The Value resorts and some of the Moderate resorts will be FULL of kids (both football players and cheerleaders). Expect a lot of noise if you stay there. This event can cause crowds at the parks in the evenings (not during the day, since they are busy competing) and there have been some unfortunate incidents, including violent fights between teams. "

I agree! Never too soon for the Disney Dance.

I'll join in  :cool1:  :cool1:

I just peeked in on my DS. He is sound asleep with a Mickey Mouse under each arm. Did I teach him right or what?

Looks like there could be a chance that we may be adding one more to our trip in January. DH and I are going to become foster parents in hopes of eventually adopting. I would LOVE to create another Disney-aholic.

You certainly did:thumbsup2

That is so awesome Mindy! Good luck, I hope everything works out for you! :goodvibes Keep us posted!

College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships (January 16-18, 2009), National Dance Team Championship (January 30-February 1, 2009), National High School Cheerleading Championship (February 7-8, 2009), Twirlmania (February 13-16, 2009), Contest of Champions Nationals (February 28-March 1 and March 6-8, 2009), National All Star Cheerleading Championship (March 14-15, 2009), All Star Cheerleading and Dance Worlds (last one was April 24-26, 2009)."[/COLOR]

Thanks for the info! I'm glad to see that we be just missing the cheering event, as we leave on the 16th.

Howdy My fellow Snowbirds! I've really enjoyed reading everyone's post and am getting some great ideas! I wanted to post my latest WDW itinerary so that I can get some feedback. Also, my family will be traveling Jan. 15-20 so we'll be mixed in with the College Cheerleading/Dance crowd. Do ya'll think this will be a night mare as far as crowds go? :confused3 Is there one park that they typically stay at?
Okay, now onto the fun stuff:)

Ages: Me (22), Sister (19), Mom and Dad, Grandma/Grandpa (50s), Aunt/Uncle (30s) and two boy cousins 3&4.

Thurs. Jan 15 We arrive @ Poly. My sister, dad, and I are hopping to get to Poly in early afternoon before the rest of the family gets there so we can do some of our favorite things :)

Fri. Jan 16 AK
Lunch @ Rainforest Cafe
Grand Gathering: We are a group of 8 so we are going to do the Pirate Cruise where you watch wishes on the Seven Seas Lagoon. My cousins love pirates so I think they'll be excited about this! Anyone ever done this??

Sat. Jan 17 DHS
Lunch @ Sci-Fi
Dinner @ 50s Prime Time Cafe-anyone eaten here before?
Epcot in PM for 9 pm illuminations (take the boat or bus here??)

Sun Jan 18 MK (EMH PM-2am!!)
Chef Mickey's Breakfast @ 8:30

Mon Jan 19 Epcot
Lunch or dinner @ Beaches and Cream

Tues. Jan 20 Everyone departs at different times. Again, my sister and I will have a later flight so we can have at least a good 1/2 day at a park.

Sorry, one more question...has anyone ever eaten at a Mexican food place in Epcot? Aparently we did once per my dad and he said there was a boat ride inside and a volcano that went off. Do I need to have ADRs for this place?

Thank you all so much!!! :goodvibes

I'm not real fond of the restaurant in the Mexican pavillion. The food is so-so, and you're pretty cramped. It does have a boat ride inside that's really nice. 50's Prime Time is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is really good, and they have comfort foods. Fried chicken, meatloaf, pot roast, etc. You get in trouble if you put your elbows on the table. It's like you're eating in Momma's kitchen. A lot depends on your waiter/waitress. Of course, they're all relatives. One time we had Uncle Tommy, then another time we had a cousin from Mexico, and the last time we had the babysitter next door.

Good afternoon, my fellow snowbirds! :goodvibes We are having some gorgeous weather up here in NW Ontario today and I am feeling fine! :cool2:

Thought I too would post an outline of our January itinerary so you all can tell me what you think! After months of planning, we finally decided to go with the following plan:

January 19

arrive MCO @ 12:55pm
catch ME to POFQ
arrive POFQ by 230pm
check in relax and explore
Hoping to be able to book T-Rex Cafe for supper
we will have been up since before 5am so probably return to resort to ready for our first big day

January 20

8:05 am CRT breakfast
MK - if we need to take a break during the day, we will, otherwise the current plan is to just go slowly, see how things unfold and rest as necessary
5pm supper @ Chef Mickey's
maybe return to MK depending on how tired we are or else just head back to POFQ

Jan21

DHS day! plan to make RD
no decision on brekkie yet - maybe CS @ POFQ or else grab something at the park when we get there!
1230pm lunch @ 50's PTC
we plan to stay here until about 3 and then head back to POFQ, maybe rent bikes for the afternoon or else go to DTD
no plans for supper - probably CS at either DTD or POR

Jan 22

no plans as of yet - we have 8 day park tix so we will probably do a park for part of the day but not sure just which one yet!
530pm supper @ O'Hana
hope to catch the Campfire on de Bayou if it is offered this night!

Jan 23

AK Day! planning for RD
again not sure about brekkie - depends on when we are able to wake up! maybe CS @ POFQ or else get something at AK!
we will probably do CS lunch @ pizzafari (I detest eating outdoors!)
we have a 5pm ADR for supper @ rainforest Cafe AK - I know it will be OOP but I also know my girls will love it!
return to POFQ relax maybe take a walk around to POR and check out the playground

Jan 24

Epcot day! plan to make RD!
we have a 1230pm ADR for lunch @ Biergarten - hopefully we will be able to catch the entertainment when it starts!
plan to stay as long as the girls can go! hopefully at least until 3! My goal is to have a "peek" at each of the countries and let the girls finish thier masks at the Kidcot stations!
return to POFQ relax, swim if nice, maybe do a carriage ride this evening?

Jan 25

we have a 10:05 am ADR for a late brekkie @ Boatwright's and then ?????? no plans to do a park this day explore another resort?, DTD? mini golf? ride bikes? who knows?

Jan 26

Another Day at Epcot! we don't to go until later in the morning so will probably arrive in time to have lunch somewhere in WS!
We hope to have a 630 ADR @ Coral Reef!
Illuminations!!!!!

Jan 27

no concrete plans as of yet! we will most likely go to a park for part of the day but not sure which one yet - probably Ak or DHS!
No ADR's for this day either!

January 28

MK - hoping for an early breakfast at Crystal Palace!
take a break if necessary but probably just go slow and rest as needed!
Hope to have a 5pm supper @ 1900 Park Fare - then back to MK for Wishes!

January 29

our flight departs MCO at 1145am so I anticipate an 830 ME pickup so we will probably either use up credits if we have any left for a quick brekkie or else just grab something when we get to the airport!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So that's it! This is a complete surprise for our kids! They think we are waiting until their cousins are big enough and we can ALL go together as a GG! We are planning to tell them just after Christmas! Before they go back to school! We had thought about telling them on Christmas Day, but since this trip ISN"T their present, we didn't want it to replace Christmas!

So? What do you expereinced Snowbirds think? Any comments, suggestions? I welcome your input! :)

First off, I love anyone who uses the word "brekkie." I'm from the South and I never hear it used here.

Secondly, I love anyone who suprises children with a Disney trip. I can't wait for the day when I can suprise my own.

Have a wonderful time!princess:

I know, I'm a little early, but with DD's new-found love for Mickey Mouse:lovestruc (and I couldn't be any more proud) DH and I are seriously considering a second (short) trip in September.

Ccould someone explain how bounceback works?

Thanks!princess:

Sorry, haven't had any experience with bounceback yet. . . I think there has to be an offer in your room and then you can book that resort again within a certain amount of time and you get a discount.
